It would be interesting to know how many D-1 players Kittson Central has turned out over the years.

They had another good player named Calvin Hanson a few years back, looks like he's scoring a lot in the NAHL but hasn't committed anywhere.

Im telling you they’re doing something right over in Vermont. He was the Elite League leading scorer this year.

It must be the maple syrup or Ben & Jerry's.
Keep your stick on the ice...

Nah, Jake Fisher from CDH was the Elite League leading scorer (total points & tied for most goals) this year. From my viewings of Steenerson, I can't say I'm all that bummed that we didn't land him.
I can't recall exactly where I heard it but I know I've listened to a podcast that Vermont's head coach was interviewed on and he talked about being a big proponent of our high school model and recruiting here as much as he can, which is obviously showing itself in their commitments in recent years.

You’re right he was tied with Javon Moore for 4th in Elite League scoring. Don’t know where I saw he was first lol. Not worried the Gophers didn’t get him either but more impressed that Vermont is landing these quality MN recruits. Don’t think he was on the Gophers radar but Vermont probably beat out the likes of Bemidji, St. Thomas, maybe Mankato.
I know Vermont has picked up a couple of Blue Chip Minnesota kids including Bump, but they are dead last in Hockey East and they will need a heck of a lot more then that to battle with the incoming classes of BU and BC. I've heard good things about their coach and I hope they can catch lightning in a bottle to battle the big boys like Merrimack did this year.

If there is any chance of flipping Bump I'd like to see it happen. He's very fun to watch.
We’ll be a little thin up front next year. I’d take him.

Carsen Musser to Colorado College
I did not see that coming.
BTW I do think this is another example of how it's tough to go the NTDP if you are not a clear cut No. 1 goalie, top six forward or top pair defender. He probably would be playing twice as much for a USHL team than spliting time with Trey Augustine who is a year younger.
Now that the domino has dropped on Wisconsin, I wonder if Skahan or Brink start looking around.
I'm sure Ciskie is blaming the refs for this flip.

If players continue to choose the Big Ten over the Nacho conference will they even be able to field teams in the near future? ? The Big Ten is taking over.
Future Whioux and Heron Lake Mn native Hobie Hedquist got destroyed by a player last night. I wonder what was said/done to elicit that kind of response. Needless to say, the player is getting a suspension for this.

I like Pilgrim's game, would have been happy to see him in maroon and gold.
I would have loved to have landed Pilgrim, but he is in prime Whioux territory and if he grew up a Whioux fan, it would have been really tough to pull that off.

It's kind of weird how many northern kids never end up with the Gophers. I get that many grow up Pioux and Bulldog fans, and there's a lot of moving parts (including both parties being interested, scholarship amount available, playing time/space on the roster, etc.) but I still think it's weird how few times the stars have aligned to bring in a few more the past couple decades.
Not even saying the U has lost out a ton either, but surely there's been a handful that would have been desirable?

I just see it as a much needed transition that we needed to make.
The metro area has grown more and the majority of the very best players are around the metro now. Not that there aren't any good players in northern MN any longer because there are... but the depth isn't nearly what it was when you and I were growing up in the 70s and 80s. Back when the Iron Range was flourishing, etc.
With our recruiting being more broad and player development in the U.S. being much more diverse than our youth, it makes sense to focus more metro and top tier out of state kids. We will still take our swings here or there on northern MN kids but it just is a different situation now. We can land great players in non-MN areas that surpass what we see coming out of the northern part of the state most years.

One of the highest ranked MN 07’s. Gonna play with the NTDP this year. Apparently he was always locked in on BU and no one else had much of a chance. No idea how he was able to commit before August 1st.
Possible NCAA violation?
As long as BU did not make an "offer" they are in the clear. I also don't believe BU hasn't responded to the social media post or reposted it anywhere. I'm sure there are many ways to indicate to the player he has an offer without saying he has an offer. The kid knows that he is a star and that he has an offer in waiting on August 1st. Also, nothing really prevents a player going on social media and saying he is going to play at school "X" before he actually receives an "offer". That said, I would not mind if James Hagens goes on social media to do the same. ?
- Early Recruiting: Hockey recruits won’t hear from college coaches until their sophomore year, but college coaches will most certainly still evaluate them at tournaments, college camps and combines before then. College coaches may even contact a recruit’s high school and club coaches to let them know they have their eye on an athlete. During the time before college coaches can contact recruits, athletes should attend events to increase their exposure.
- Communication and Verbal Offers: After Division 1 college coaches can begin contacting recruits starting January 1 after the athlete’s sophomore year, they must wait until August 1 of the athlete’s junior year to make a verbal offer.
- Official and Unofficial Visits: Hockey recruits can schedule unofficial visits starting January 1 of their sophomore year, but will have to hold off on talking to college coaches on campus until they can schedule an official visit, starting August 1 of their junior year

I would prefer Hagens not announce a commitment to BU ?

Michigan State seems to be making some big moves in recruiting.
Wow, great add for Michigan State
A couple NTDPers go off the board. One to Harvard and one to North Dakota. They weren’t on our radar.
Really slow start to this recruiting cycle. Once high end players start to trickle back from WJSS, Hlinka Gretzky and Five Nations then things will start to pick up I’m guessing.
One of the top 07’s, Cole McKinney, commits to Michigan.

Heard we were trying pretty hard for him. Oh well, more room for Mooney and Morin!
