Fortunately, it’ll be another season before the Gophers part with some of the key pieces of the team’s back-to-back Frozen Four runs.
We recap the devastating National Championship game lost to Quinnipiac. Talk about the players that have signed contracts and look ahead a bit to next season.
Tampa, FL – We had them right where we wanted them, and we let ‘em off the hook.
Despite building a two-goal lead early in the second period, the Minnesota Gophers (29-10-1) couldn’t score that next goal to put the Quinnipiac Bobcats (34-4-3) away for good. Quinnipiac mounted a furious charge after the second Gopher goal, outshooting Minnesota 26-8 after the first period and potting three unanswered goals, the last just 10 seconds into overtime, to win their first national championship 3-2.

This is a short post game segments that we did after the Frozen Four Semi Final victory over Boston University.
Tampa, FL – For the first time since 2013-2014, the Gophers are headed to the National Title game.
Despite giving up the first goal of the game and hitting numerous posts throughout the contest, the Minnesota Gophers (29-9-1) persevered, finding their footing through some serious Terrier puck luck to down Boston University (29-11-0) by a 6-2 final score.
Tampa, Fla. — Coming into the Frozen Four there were high hopes for the pace of play based on the sheer volume of skill amongst the teams in Tampa. The Gophers boasted 14 draft picks in their line-up and the Terriers tallied 11 in theirs. Neither team disappointed during an intense Minnesota 6-2 win over Boston University during the first semi-final of the weekend. However it wasn’t necessarily the Gophers top line or the Terriers heralded freshman defensemen that made the most noise, it came from some of the team’s depth players.
