I decided to create a new thread for this vs using the old Google Chat thread.
For a while now adding users to the live Google chat has not worked well at all. It appears that even after inviting users after they have requested access, they just never get the invite.
So I have installed a chat that is meant for WordPress, but uses outside resources instead of bogging down our website server. It is called Minnit Chat. As of right now, I am only using the FREE version of this chat. No bells & whistles. Limited customization. It also restricts the chatters to 20 at a time. That is not great, but I think we can at least give it a TEST for the weekend series vs MSU.
So if people could try to use that vs the Google Chat this coming weekend, that would be great.
I have added it to the GPL Chat page. You can find that in the Community Menu or the link below. On that page you will also find the game stats feed for the game. They will go live right before the games starts. For those on desktop, you will see that part on the right 25% of the page. If you are on mobile, you will find it below the main chat window.
Just a reminder, this is just a TEST. If it works okay, only then will I get aa paid version and make it look nice for GPL.
If anyone wants to try it out, I will be in the chat off and on tonight for testing.

Popped in from the arena a couple times, maybe wasn't quite as easy as Google Chat was for me, but, I didn't have any actual problems, and with the issues we've had overall with Google Chat, I think this experiment was a success this weekend.

I think it was ok. I miss some of the features but it's cromulent and probably even good if there aren't many choices.
A bit annoying with how it interfaces with iPhone typing and misspelling. But then again, eelcshot.
I don't know if you are still supporting it or whatever, but I have never been able to get this new GPL chat to work at all on Chrome or Firefox. Maybe I am not on when it is running or whatever, but I see nothing resembling any form of chat on any visit there.
It doesn't keep chat after the game (not sure how long it does stay there). Do you see a chat window, just no comments?

Unfortunately, I don't see anything related to chat-- just the text at the top that Jup was discussing the beta nature of the software. No chat window. Just two horizontal bars for live stats with "Click to access the iHeart AM1130 News Talk audio stream of the game." between them.
Sounds like you've got something blocked on your system. The chat should be between those two bars. Do you know if you block Javascript?

I may have an extension or something on Firefox that has that effect, but I certainly don't have anything other than stock Chrome that has the same issue.

I get the same as Jup Looking up the chat system, it looks like it uses CSS and JavaScript. So, if either of those is disabled, that could be an issue. Other than that, maybe you have security software that blocks the chat server.

So weird. I have default settings on the site in Chrome, and Javascript is enabled by default. So that isn't it. And I don't have any CSS blockers anywhere, so that isn't it either.
Are you suggesting Windows Security would block this? I have the same look on my phone (Android running Chrome, FWIW).
edit- tried logging in on Edge (which I never use) and had the same result. Did I get put on ultra-secret probation by Jup? (Not that I would blame him)
If it's doing the same on your phone... that makes no sense. I wouldn't expect security software to do it on your phone, too. I know part of why Jup went with this system is that it doesn't need invites, so I wouldn't think your account would have anything to do with it either.
Tried clearing cache/data/etc? I'd have thought testing a browser that you never use would be enough, but, easy to do, so worth a try.

I am going with operator error.
I wish it was that simple.
But when I replicate it on three browsers and my mobile phone, and I think the only commonality is my credentials....
We got it figured out.
For some reason @skiumahlaw was not set as a "subscriber" within Wordpress. Makes me wonder if others are set this way.

When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Sounds like what Ski-u-mah Law had a few weeks ago. When you're on the page, the chat should just be there in the middle. If you don't see it, Jup needs to fix your account
