It was 1-1 when we left the last place we were at. wtf happened? Ugh. Go oilers.
CAR has lost something like 14 in a row in the playoffs or some weird stat? Too lazy too look it up. It's Twins-like.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

It’s losses in the third round, and it is 15 straight now. Last win was 6/1/2006.
I blame Guerin. 😎
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
Florida is -175, where is Carolina is +145 for Game 4. Taking the moneyline and Florida is a safe bet. It’s parlaying it with the o/u or some prop bets is the challenge.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Oilers lead 3-1 after 2 periods. Quite a luxury for Oilers having the best player on the planet!
McDavid, Draisaitl and Bouchard best 3 some on the ice?

If you limit the question to “on the power play” 100% YESMcDavid, Draisaitl and Bouchard best 3 some on the ice?
The streak ends! Hurricanes win a game in the third round.

Let’s go Oilers! End it in 5 (like the Panthers will be doing) and let’s get the re-match going!
Heart says Oilers but (unfortunately) head says Cats in 7, but if Reinhart doesn’t return for Finals & ECkholm does, it could maybe change things!
So Sunday night the Stars outshot the Oilers 34-24 and lost 6-1 L.O.L!
Aloha!
Is it just me or is Subban always yelling?
I get he’s a good ambassador of the game but I could do with a whole lot less pk subban
The 50/50 for Gsme 4 in Edmonton was $6.5m…

Similar to last year, Dallas simply appears to have run out of energy after tuff series with Avs & Jets. And Oilers have 97 & 29!

Dallas needed to score a couple when they were running Edmonton ragged early in the game. Really going to hurt Edmonton if Hyman is out playing against Florida though
@upnorthkid That looked bad. He went right to the bench in obvious pain. It was one of those high-speed glancing hits that caught his arm or hand. I thought it looked like a shoulder but someone on the telecast suggested it could be a hand injury.
After the game, Messier talked about it like he wasn't coming back. Maybe he knew something.
It was a glancing blow, but it may have jammed & possibly fractured his wrist. If that’s the case, with it being the wrist on his shooting hand, Hyman will likely be done for the playoffs. Unfortunately I’ve seen this injury happen before from a similar, but more severe collision. Hoping that’s not the case with Hyman, but it’s something with his wrist or hand & not just a bruise or contusion, or he’d of returned to the game.@upnorthkid That looked bad. sure looked like he broke something in his wrist/forearm and given he's already ruled out for tomorrow, would imagine its likely season ending in terms of his ability to have impact
@upnorthkid If it's a Florida-Edmonton match-up, the loss of Hyman could be the difference. Edmonton is not as deep as Florida, even if Reinhart doesn't return.
Aloha!
Ekholm will return for the Final. While I give Florida a slight edge, this Edmonton team has essentially brushed aside Golden Knights & now (it appears) the Stars, so I give them a solid chance vs a Panthers team that had to go 7 with Leafs.@upnorthkid If it's a Florida-Edmonton match-up, the loss of Hyman could be the difference. Without Hyman does sting. Though out of the 4 remaining teams. Edmonton is the deepest and can probably absorb losing a player like Hyman.

Interesting at the start of the 3rd in Game 4 the stripes told Edmonton’s to stop tapping Hintz’s ankle whenever they have a chance. Personally it’s a little cheap, but kinda part of the game.

to me, no its not a part of the game. Should've been called slashing the first time they did it (Bouchard winds up and slashes him on top of the foot). I get it, he's hurting and you want advantages, but do it between the whistles and when they have the puck within the bounds of the rule book.

reinhart, mikkola and greer all back tonight for FL

It's been worse in the other series. Aho gets run nearly every shift and the refs aren't calling the rule book. Tkachuk's crosschecks and slashes from the center-ice face off to the goal line that ended with a mugging and takedown was beyond the pale.
The refs should have rung up Tkachuk as soon as Aho hit the ice after the faceoff. Instead, they watched the assault for 30 seconds before calling it when they essentially had to. The league should be embarrassed.
The people who call the shots in this league are dinosaurs who have no shame.
Ekblad with a very obvious dive.
Aho!
Even Bob lets in a questionable one from time to time! 2-0 CANES after one period!
On march the panthers.

It is interesting to me that the owners want to "protect their assests" and not have them play in the olympics, where the owners don't make any money. But are fine with the 4 nations, etc. where they do make money.
If the owners wanted the standard of enforcement raised in the postseason, it would be done pretty quickly. The owners clearly have no interest in more penalties being called in the playoffs.
Also of interest (to me anyway), the league has very few American officials, especially Referees. And of these few, only a couple have playoff experience. The league continues to hire the same types of officials, and gives the same types of officials the big games. Chris Rooney is the only active US born official who has worked a Stanley Cup Final.
There are 42 Full Time NHL referees. 7 are American, 35 are Canadian. Of those 7, 3 have playoff experience, and only 1 has worked in the finals. Is the NHL 83% Canadian players? Why are 83% of the officials Canadian? The Major Juniors route is viewed as the preferred path to Pro Hockey, but good luck getting hired if you are an American.
I went to grad school in Southfield Michigan, and worked the OHL for half a season. I worked the 2 Michigan teams and was not "allowed" to cross the border. The Canadian guys who came across would barely talk to me. As far as it being a 'better league' I decided to go back to the USHL where I got to work more teams and actually had conversations and friendships with some of the other officials. Another guy I worked games in the USHL with went to grad school at Simon Fraser, and ended up only working American teams and having to cross the border to work games. Didn't get a single Canadian game.
It is a weird dichotomy. More and more players are coming from NCAA, but that is not viewed as a route to the NHL for officials. NCAA is mostly guys who tried to get into the NHL/Pro Hockey and are settling back for something else.
I do think Canadians call the game differently than Americans. I also think the NHL wants the game called the "Canadian Way".
Canes & their entire division are the weakest of the 4 Divisions. It showed again tonight in ♠️ up 2-0 at home, the defensive zone coverage breakdowns were abysmal & lack of discipline taking penalties ultimately killed the CANES!

I made the same observation. The best teams know how to really clamp down and play defense. The Canes couldn't do it.
Florida can beat you with physical play or skill. Oh, and they have the best goalie in their net. I want Edmonton to get the Cup but I dont see them beating Florida.
Fla are the champs until someone dethrones them…but Oilers have also been dominant since losing G1 & G2 to Kings plus they have #97 😁 and I like their chances vs Fla better than last year.Canes & their entire division are the weakest of the 4 Divisions. Funny thing is Anderson prob was the best goalie in the playoffs up until that series. Which tells you how good Florida is, from what little I watched of the series he had no chance on most goals against especially the tips directly in front of him. Ideally the gophers can somehow learn a thing or two from that team because that hard to the net. style is the best antidote to hot goalies and refs who swallow their whistles.Canes & their entire division are the weakest of the 4 Divisions. strange the guy who is from Ontario and only officiated in Canada would go this route. Do think the director of officiating needs to be a more dynamic role. It's been Walkom-->Gregson-->Walkom since 2005 and clearly has coincided with a massive drop in PPs. Walkom has been a big proponent of "standardizing" the game rather than calling it as "your" game (his words, not mind) as officials. Would envision that is a big part of it
really interesting read to hear your experience, as always. thanks for sharing.
Ovi set to retire after next season per email sent out to STH. Then the Caps sent this out.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
ok after he retires where will he live here in the USA or back in Russia?
Aloha!
Not sure it even matters, but I could see Ovi landing a job with an NHL team after he retires if he so desires.
ok after he retires where will he live here in the USA or back in Russia?
He goes back to Russia every off season, and is friendly with Putin, so there is no fear of punishment from him. So, I say he moves back unless, as Slap shot suggested, he gets a job here, then he may split his time.

Otter pulled. Dallas down 2-0.
Desmith immediately lets in a terrible goal and it’s 3-0. Night Dallas. Bring on the rematch
