Faber saves the game at least temporarily.

Gaudreau immediately takes a tripping penalty. Dallas's 2nd PP in OT.

Cleaning the ice during a PP/PK...  Seems odd...  I didn't think they did that in the NHL.

Makes sense.  Everyone on the ice seemed slightly surprised too, haha.

Hartman collects the puck in front of the net and roofs one. Wild win 3-2!

Probably a good sign to win a game where Oettinger was outstanding and Kaprizov and Zuccarello were not.

I’m stunned. It felt like it was inevitable Dallas would score for all of the second OT. How huge is the save off the handle of Gus’ stick right before the Hartman goal? So many lucky bounces and hard work to make them. Gutsy win for the Wild.

Nyquist with the nifty pass to spring Steele (nyuck nyuck) then with a nice neutral zone transition for the OT goal. Great game for him and Johannson.

If Ottinger keeps playing like this, it could be a frustrating series, but Wild will take the win tonight.

KK and Zuch pretty much neutralized tonight, and somebody needs to hammer Suter in the kidney for his garbage tonight.

Yeah the Faber deflection reminded me of the Paul Martin game saver against Michigan in the NC semifinal.

After going to la la land did Pavelski go to doing the boxscore?

Such an axe to grind… even in his later years with and Wild he was becoming more and more of a db. Makes me think his dad’s death changed messed with him.

Watched the first period, drifted in and out during the game, woke up and heard lapanta mention 78 minutes of hockey so far and I thought dude it’s not a four period game I know you’re tired but still. Then I figured it out and luckily stayed awake to see the final ? huge win!

The Dumba hit was very very hard but I didn't see anything dirty about it except it being maybe a half a second late (obviously the referees agreed and so does the Department of "Player Safety") . Lots of people on Twitter apparently can't see Dumba's shoulder hitting nothing but Pavelski's shoulder. It leveled Pavelski and his head bounced off the ice pretty hard.

Hopefully Pavelski is OK.

The Suter cheapshots on Kaprizov were ridiculous. My guess is Reaves or Foligno will be looking to send a message early in game two. My guess is they were hesitant to do that last night late in the game because they didn't want to give Dallas yet another PP.

I think something may have already been said to Suter because the shots did stop. It it was it was likely from his own team, Robertson for example.

Wow… Suter is an embarrassment when it comes to hockey fights. All 3 of his opponents wanted to fight. He just grab on and try to use his leverage to wrestle them down.

Kaprizov can take care of himself. You don't pay Suter back by trying to fight him.  You pay him back by breaking a few of Robertson's ribs, and letting the entire Stars team know that Suter is the reason why their superstar is in the hospital.

If they're looking to send a message/protect Kaprizov they don't do it but punching a 38 year old Dman. They do it by making their top scorers feel the pain. Benn or Robertson taking a hard hit or two early in game 2 would suffice.

As J22 said, if those guys start getting beat up then the Stars players will tell Suter to cut the crap on Kaprizov and Zuccarello.

@j22 and @beauner are spot on. Don't go after Suter. His hockey fights history is pathetic. He'll just try to wrestle and hold on with all his might until the stripes step in. You go after Benn or Robertson and keep repeating until the msg. is sent and heard. Dallas isn't going to try to go man to man with the Wild. The Wild are more physical, bigger and stronger.

agreed fully. That being said, you still tell Reaves to crush him on the forecheck every chance you get and if he spontaneously wants to drop the gloves after taking a hit, then you do it. But no reason to chase him

What's up with that? Are they known to be inaccurate?

Also showed faceoffs as Dallas winning 57%. I can't believe that's right either. Wild were absolutely horrible on the dot and should have lost just due to faceoff ineptitude.

NHL is really bad with the statistics like hits,  blocks, takeaways. Without even looking I would bet the official number of turnovers for last night's game between both teams is about 20.

It is horrible. I did this from time to time as needed for the Wild, usually doing the counts for the TV broadcast’s use. I was often baffled by the “official” count.

The fans and for some reason media hate for Dumba shows what a backwards non-hockey market Dallas is. That was a great hit with an unfortunate result of his head hitting the ice…not Dumba’s fault in the least.

Clean or not, I'd be pretty pissed off if it is Kaprizov laying on the ice concussed.

We have several people on here asking for retribution on Suter (or Robertson) for Suter's actions against Kaprizov...

Are we really that different?

I hate Dallas, and am still bitter we lost the North Stars.  From their point of view, I understand the sentiment.  While it was a hockey play, and certainly within the rules, there was some intent behind.  Which is also allowed, but it wasn't your average, run of the mill check.  If Hakanpaa laid out Kaprizov similarly... we'd be doing the exact same thing.  At least I would, maybe you're better than me.  I'd be pissed.

Pavelski isn’t their Kaprizov. He’s more like a Zucarello or Ek. Just a bit of a difference. Not like it was Robertson.

Obviously emotions run high this time of year for everyone involved. I am mad that one of their players was taking liberties with Kaprizov. That it was Suter with what happened here just makes me want him to get run by Moose even worse. Don’t get me wrong, I won’t feel sad if Reaves runs him over either, I don’t want to be picky about it. ?

And you’re making a false equivalency. There’s many reasons for the Suter hate from Wild fans: he’s a DB, he spent many years as a very negative influence on this franchise, he’s a former Badger. If the Dallas fans want to hate Dumba cause he used to play for the Eagles I can sympathize with that.

Moreover, nobody is asking for Suter to be laid out on a stretcher.

Pavelski fell awkwardly and hit his head on the ice. That's not on Dumba. It rankles me to see a player hit an opponent when he knows his head is down or is skating at an angle. That was not the case last night. Dumba was clearly in Pavelski's view. He just didn't anticipate that Dumba was going to pull up for the hit.

If Suter is going to cross-check the Wild's star on the ribs and the refs refuse to call it, he needs to get his ribs cracked or, if they're going the proportional-response route, go after Robertson. What's the alternative to get Suter to stop the cheap shots?

So if somebody boards a guy and his head hits the boards/glass... we cannot be mad at the player - we have to be mad at the boards/glass.  Without the hit, it is very unlikely Pavelski smashes his head on the ice.  Dumba hit him, an injury was the result.  I am just saying I can understand their frustration.

I hate players on certain teams for a variety of reasons.  Nobody has to agree with them.  I don't like players who wear tinted visors.  Am I am backwards fan of hockey and the Wild? I don't think their dislike for Dumba makes them a backwards fanbase, it makes them fans of their team who are frustrated.

I honestly couldn't give a rip what happens to Suter.  The best message to send would be sending Dallas home packing after Game 4 on Xcel Ice.  That would be fantastic.

I honestly couldn't give a rip what happens to Suter.  The best message to send would be sending Dallas home packing after Game 4 on Xcel Ice.  That would be fantastic.

This. Fighting violence with violence is stupid.  Please take the high road and don’t sink to their level, hit them where it will really hurt - in the back of the net.

(Fwiw I am not discounting that the refs can be blind morans and do not call things that should be called).

No one is really advocating Suter get hurt but if he was threatened and then turtled and ran away that would be fun.
