Yeah, that wasn't good.

Let's not get carried away here. He used a poor Asian accent saying the pitcher needed to be "velly, velly, careful" when throwing to Ohtani. We've all heard much worse and he apologized at the top of the next inning. Let's move on.

Do not ever make a mistake if you want to be in media of any form. Better yet, just stay away from media period. They’ll find mistakes you never even knew you made in the past.

Cancel culture has gotten so out of control.

For the record, I do not condone what he did. But he immediately apologized. Everyone is human and should not have their lives ruined for such mistakes/missteps. It is possible to forgive someone, educate them, and allow them to become a better person for it. Was it wrong? Yes. Was it egregious, intentional, and going to ruin someone’s life? No.

FWIW, it wasn't an immediate apology. He made the remark in the 5th or 6th inning and issued his "apology" in the 9th.

It's not like he got fired. He'll be back in the booth next season, if not later this season.

I’m too lazy to find it but I saw what his overall stats are this year. 40 home runs offensively and as a pitcher he is 8-1 with a sub 3 ERA and 120+ Ks in 100 IPs

He’s that guy we’ve built in video games except he’s doing it in MLB. The fact the Angels are still horrible is a waste

The apologies offered by knuckleheads like Jack Morris are off the charts. Did they go to a seminar to learn how to do that shit? Instead of apologizing for doing something that was obviously very offensive they spin it around and say, "oh I'm sorry if you were offended." What a fricking clown.

I mean they're above .500 on the season, and the guy on pace to be the greatest player of all time has missed like 75 games due to injury. I'm not sure I'd call them terrible.

They're in 4th in the AL West at 62-61.

Proving once again that Rob Manfred is far worse than Gary Bettman and every other commissioner on earth.

Cards were HUGE in the early 90s. NFTs being what they are, I think Fanatics (who MLB is switching to) is ahead of the game compared to Topps. FTR, I think NFTs are stupid.

I get watching overlays when the pitching motion is nearly identical for two very different pitches, but that's not the case here. LoL

I think it's more how wildly the batter misses both pitches.

More on the #Phillies comebacks from

@EliasSports

:

They've now won 3 games this month after trailing by at least 6 runs.

The only other team to do that in any calendar month:

Pop Corkhill's 1884 Cincinnati Reds, of the late, not that great American Association.

St. Louis has won 17 consecutive games and clinched a wild card birth. Absolutely incredible run.

The San Diego Padres, on the other hand, have gone into a tailspin and are now 78-78 and will miss the playoffs.

I wondered about the longest streak, it seems that the record is 22 in a row (not counting ties, in old time baseball). 20 is the next number up.

Yep. The 2017 Cleveland Indians won 22, breaking the previous record of the Moneyball-era Oakland As, which had won 20 consecutive for the modern-era record.

The only team that won more than 22 was like a 1916 team who had a game end in a tie because the game ended due to rain. IIRC they had won like 5, then tied that game, then won 21 more.

26 in the articles I found. There was the one tie.

Yep. Baseball reference has them as winning 12 straight, then getting the aforementioned tie, then winning 14 in a row.

If only the 2007 Rockies hasn't lost that one game to Arizona. Would have won 22 straight, including playoffs. Although I suppose game 163 wouldn't have been needed, shortening it to 21 games.

Keep an eye on those pesky Mariners too. They seem to be making a postseason push. Longest playoff drought in MLB? I want to say it’s been since 2001.

Not a fan of Boston OR New York, but any Yankees' season ending in a loss is a cause for celebration. And if I can say the same thing about the Red Sox in 10 days or so, all the better.

Certainly not a fan of Boston, but I do dislike them less than I dislike New York.
