The Fleck nay sayers staying silent on social media. They can’t even congratulate Fleck or the Gophers in the last 2 weeks.

Keep your stick on the ice...

A little close for comfort against a bad team but hey, that’s three solid games in a row to get back above .500. Love to see it.

The halftime adjustments he and his staff have made the last two weeks are pretty awesome.  The complete shift in the offense because our running game is weak is something I never thought I would see Fleck do.

On to other things:

The Rose Bowl...sucks.  There are some cool things like no concourse just all food and concessions in the outer plazas around the stadium...but the seats suck, the building is dingy and there is zero home field advantage.  If you think Gopher fans arriving late is bad UCLA is way worse.  The students didn't arrive to tailgate until right before the game and didn't enter the game until after they scored the first td.  The fans are dead silent even on big plays and honestly the Gopher fans were louder most of the game until UCLA retook the lead.  Having a stadium that far away from Westwood is a recipe for exactly what UCLA is...a middling program with no money or support.  Sad really...

From the TV views it looked like the place was half empty at least.

Everyone likes to give credit to the players who touch the ball, but Minnesota's O line came up huge on their final drive, especially on the TD throw.

It felt like a Gopher Game against a Directional School in the Brewster or early Kill days.  Maybe 30k there and that is including the HS Dance Teams that performed for 2 minutes at halftime. (not a joke...friggin sad)  The Gopher Sections were the densest with fans outside the students and the "Corpies" had empty spots aplenty on both sides.  Put it this way, I bought tix for 20 dollars under face to be in the Gopher section and I overpaid. (I moved because I could not stand hearing people not even know the proper vernacular of the game let alone the rules or how the game is played)

I mean even the GF was pointing out how empty it was and how they tarp off the upper deck in each end zone. (as UCLA was about to score their first td she asked "so when exactly do the Bruins Fans show up?" even after I told her they always show up late) The Bank is a much better experience on game day although UCLA has a sweet set up for tailgating and again, the food court/plaza is so much better.  No cramped hallways and long azz lines...they have dozens of food booths and food options and like 10 people in each one so everything moves smoothly.  Bathrooms are out there as well.

Such a weird outdated setup though.  Even right now it is almost a half an hour to get from Westwood to Pasadena...in traffic you are looking at an hour easy even if you avoid the highway and cut through Hollywood.  That would be like if the Gophers played home games in Anoka.

UCLA is in a tough spot for football. I could not begin imagine the cost if they tried to build an on/near campus stadium.  Land cost alone…..yikes!

@streakygopher Rose Bowl holds like 100k…no surprise it was half empty. At least the Gophers got a win in Pasadena! 👍

The stadium size isn't the issue, its where it is.  Pasadena is just so far away.  It is almost 27 miles from Pauley Pavilion to the Rose Bowl...who the heck wants to do that in LA traffic.  Yes there is trams and busses and such...but still.

Plus, and I cannot stress this enough, Bruins fans are more pessimistic than Gopher fans.  Legit every Bruins fan we met here in town guaranteed we would win and were super pumped to watch us play.  Bruins Football does not matter especially in Pasadena.

@handyman Everything you’re saying is correct, but good luck getting another college stadium built in LA, USC plays at old LA Coliseum which hasn’t been state or art since SB #1

Good luck?  Like I care I'm just stating facts.

And having driven by USC i can say they won't have the same issues.  Old stadiums are fine if people go to them.

@handyman You misinterpreted when I said “good luck” wasn’t directed at you. Nice to witness a Gopher 🏈 win in Pasadena, despite lack of atmosphere. I just don’t think UCLA has a lot of Stadium options at this point, agree 30 miles from campus doesn’t make much sense.

I'm really hoping Daniel Jackson gets drafted after the season. He is very capable of playing at the next level. His hands and body control are unreal.

It has been extremely fun to see his progression over the years.

They used to be great but then they went budget.  You get what you pay for.  I avoid them, Southwest and Spirit.

Next Saturdays game vs Maryland will be at 2:30. Perfect to watch the football game and immediately head to the X for the game vs. St Thomas at 8.

Could you imagine if the surrounding neighborhood had a 'town hall' to discuss a potential outdoor football stadium on campus? The mix of huge money and strong personalities.. NIMBY to the max!

I will never fly Spirit or Frontier.   Sun Country only in an emergency.  I love flying Southwest  Never really had a issue with them.

I flew Frontier a couple times many years ago, but no way I'd do that again.  For Sun Country, they were my preferred choice until they went full-on "budget" airline (75$ upgrades to First Class?  Yes, please).  Then, the fiasco with stranding people in Mexico because it was snowing... in Minnesota... in March... and not doing anything to help re-book a last-minute, one-way, international flight (only refunding half of the round-trip airfare, too).  Nobody could EVER have expected snow here in March, right?

EDIT:  Correction, it was April, not March, but, it's far from unheard of for Minnesota to get snow in April, either.

B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

I almost always fly Delta cause I have status and an Amex with them...but the flights home were insanely expensive and Sun Country was the only one that worked.  I can deal with budget but from I am told even Spirit isn't as bad as Sun Country on some of their "choices".

I mean I realize I am not the smallest person ever but their seats make me feel like I am on My 600lb Life or whatever it is called.

In the last 5 years I have flown them twice...and only cause no option was available.

Our neighbor friends were stranded by Sun Country in Jamaica a couple of years ago.  Flights cancelled last minute with no way for them to extend their hotel or their car.  They finally found a place to stay, but it was so bad the owner literally locked them into the room with bars on the windows.  The dad stayed awake all night to make sure the family was safe.

I used to love Sun Country.  We upgraded to 1st class for our trip to Alaska for $75 and it was worth every penny.

I am larger than Handy, so I don't fly the airlines that cheap out and try to squeeze every last seat.  I like to have assigned seats so I can guarantee I won't have the middle seat.  I also like to leave and arrive on time so I appreciate Delta/United/American paying the fees to provide them priority on take offs/landings to free up gates.  Nothing worse than missing a flight when you're on the ground but cant get to you're gate to deboard de plane.
