Kicking at the end of the first half was the right call, defensive play calling in the 4th quarter was bad. Hope this helps.

But even the analysts you use as a shield disagreed with the terrible defensive coaching decisions that quite literally lost them the game in the fourth and I tend to agree with the “experts” on that one. You don’t need to be a coach or beneficiary of nepotism within the football ranks to figure that one out, all you need is a functioning frontal lobe. The K was not 50% from inside the 10. I can see the argument for going for it, but insisting that kicking it was absolutely the wrong choice? I'll politely not say anything more.

That was actually a brilliant move in retrospect. They would have never lined up and spiked the ball in time to get a play off. It takes 3 seconds to spike the ball. Time would have expired had they tried. I have lots of complaints about the game, but that was really smart.
The Michigan D line is good and all but it’s not like they didn’t successfully run it in the redzone later in the game. It’s one yard and basic probability says you go for it there. I don’t think it was the right call but the team had far more issues than that decision in the first half.
This team, like many of the B1G teams this year (see WI today, Iowa every week), just can't play a complete two halves of football. To me, the 2nd half against Iowa was an anomaly. Otherwise, every game they make 2 stupid mistakes (it was turnovers today, you don't give MI the short field they don't get 14 points) and a couple questionable calls (rush only four against a MI team just trying to milk the clock for a FG).
If they play a complete game, they're 4-1 right now with a jug. That's what annoys me. They have the potential and we've seen it, but with the exception of 2019 we just don't see it for 60 minutes.

Gophers beat #11 USC 24-17!!!!!!
If not for the incorrect off sides call on the on side kick last week (that the Big Ten league office admitted was incorrect) the Gophers could have back to back wins over the defending National Champions #12 Michigan and #11 USC. Two of BIGGEST blue bloods in college football.
The question isn't how are the Gophers going to compete against the new powers of the Big Ten it's how are the new powers of the Big Ten going to compete against the Gophers? 😀

The Gophers out gained Michigan last week 296 to 241 and today it was USC 373 to 362.
Back to back weeks the Gophers have gone toe to toe with Michigan and USC.
Just got home from the game. What an absolute blast. Beautiful day, and that stadium at night is so freaking cool. Atmosphere in the stadium was great from the start and stayed loud all game long.
Defense was awesome. Offense did enough against a USC defense that is a lot better than last year. Taylor was great, Brosmer made some great throws and used his legs well.
Justin Walley was outstanding in coverage all night. I thought the penalty they called on the last drive for his celebration was soft but it's apparently something the refs have been told to crack down on and that gesture could easily be seen as "I keep one tucked in the waistband" and I think the refs overreacted to it. Fortunately it didn't come back to bite us.
Koi Perich looks to be the next in line for great Gopher safeties. What an absolute stud.
Jah Joyner is a beast. He could have, and probably should have, drawn at least 10 penalties tonight. On the last drive alone the RT grabbed his facemask 3x to slow him down, put both hands on each side of his helmet once and almost ripped it off, and then basically tackled him on the INT. Not one single flag. I was going insane in the stands watching it.
It was obvious USC didn't trust their OL to hold up in pass protection tonight. They threw so many east-west passes trying to get the Gophers out of position but didn't really try to go vertical at all, even when they were downwind. I think I heard their longest play was 21 yards. That's pretty spectacular defense against that explosive offense.
Just think if they would not have crapped the bed against North Carolina? Every year they lose to an inferior team or teams and then win a game against a team they shouldn't. This is Gopher Football and drives me crazy.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
