The lines for todays prospects game. A couple of future Gophers are playing.

How is Gruba not on one of those rosters?
It is for draft eligible players and prospects and I believe he is too old as he is 20.
Years ago they held a USHL All Star game, but it has morphed into this now.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
Yes. Hendrickson isn’t invited because he is already drafted by an NHL club.
Would have been cool to see Teddy Townsend or Javon Moore in the game. I think Rinzel played as a high schooler a couple years ago.
Falloon out of the lineup again for Tri-City tonight. Been a tough second half for him injury-wise.

Pahlsson also out this weekend for Dubuque. Hopefully just some minor bumps and bruises for these two

Bob McKenzie's mid-season draft rankings are out. Moore and Ziemer honorable mentions. No Whipple.
Whipple should have stayed in school. 😉
Youngstown has traded for another goalie. Barto and the other goalie have been splitting time and both have save% under 900 and a GAA over 3.00. Maybe one of these guys is injured?

My guess is Airey is the full time goalie next year.
Pahlsson is back in the lineup for Dubuque tonight.
Minnetonka beat St.Michael-Albertville 18-0 and Javon Moore on came away with one secondary assist. Genuinely crazy.
@maroon_and_gold Not that it means much for his development, but he either seems to have 6 points or 0/1. Just a wild amount of depth on that roster and so many who can step up.

Jacob Kvasnicka has been injured for awhile now. Hasn’t played since committing to Minnesota which was over a month ago.
Scott Wheeler released his Top 64 at The Athletic today. Whipple at 63, which is higher than I have seen him most places recently. Ziemer an Honorable Mention.

Beckett Hendrickson on an unreal tear right now

Ive seen Whipple all over the board when it comes to mock drafts. Some have him as high as second round and some have him not getting drafted at all. When he committed he was billed up to be an absolute stud that we’d be lucky to get 2 years out of. Now he’s looking more like a 4 year guy, which I am perfectly fine with by the way.
Another one for Hendrickson in OT. He assisted on the game tying goal as well. There might be something to this kid…

Reid with a nice steal on a hard forecheck to set up the goal. The kind of stuff you like to see out of a guy that projects to be bottom 6.

Makes a steal setting up a short handed goal.
In related news: I just heard coach is planning on checking tomorrow morning to see if he can get him enrolled in school this week so he can suit up and be used on the Penalty Kill this weekend? 😀 😉
The Athletic's Scott Wheeler is doing his annual breakdown of each NHL teams top prospects. He did Boston today and here is what he said about Hendrickson.
13. Beckett Hendrickson, C/LW, 18 (Sioux Falls Stampede)
Hendrickson was a good player for Dan Muse and his staff in a mostly bottom-six role at the program last year, didn’t turn 18 until the week of the draft, and is now playing a front-line role in his post-draft season in the USHL before heading off to the University of Minnesota. He’s a likeable player with a strong, fairly powerful stride and a willingness to drive down ice, chase and get after it on the forecheck. He also has more room to add muscle. He’s one of those players who just always seems to be in the mix when he’s on the ice and gives a consistent effort. He’s got some skill and I wouldn’t be surprised if, with time, he was the kind of player who came into his own at 22-23 and carved out a career as solid AHL depth.
Here’s Sioux Falls Stampede general manager Tony Gasparini on Hendrickson: “This year was a big year for him in terms of development. He went into the program and he was physically underdeveloped. And that’s a tough transition to make, especially with the development team, where they have a lot of top-end forwards. So he’s in a situation that that he wasn’t in the last two years. Now he’s back to being a front-line player for us. And him along with Chris Pelosi, there was some instant chemistry, whether that started at the development camp or not, they’ve shouldered a lot of the load for us. And it’s a tough transition to be that guy. Now he’s expected to score, now he’s expected to produce offensively. And after a little bit of a slow start, he has really come on this last month. And his selection to the World Junior A Challenge is a byproduct of that because he has consistently been a very dangerous player offensively for us lately.”
And here’s Sioux Falls head coach Eric Rud: “He has been awesome, absolutely awesome. He was snakebitten earlier in terms of actually scoring but we’ve seen it right from the start. He’s such a down-low guy. He’s just going to get better because he kind of likes that game, being around the net, and the net-front presence on the power play, and he’s really good down there. He’s really good at entering the zone with pace and with possession of the puck. Great kid. That line has been dominant with Pelosi. Really good since we put them together. It’ll be fun to watch in the second half.”

Barto is a healthy scratch tonight...

Youngstown seems to have a full three man rotation at goalie, which is concerning because you want to see Barto get as many reps as possible.
Time for Bob to get on the horn and find another potential option.

Not sure I’d call it a healthy scratch. Youngstown has been rotating 3 guys and can only dress 2 so someone has to sit.

I think Barto’s fine he’s likely just gonna be a backup to Airey anyway. Wouldn’t be too worried.
Pahlsson back on the injured list again which sucks. Falloon still out as well.

Gruba 1G 2A for Fargo as he stays above a point per game pace as a d-man

I wonder why they don't allow 3 goalies to suit up in that league. Maybe it is so the road team doesn't have to pay travel expenses (hotel, food, etc.) for three goalies.
Apparently D1 colleges are willing to pay travel expenses for three goalies to suit up.
I suspect the NHL doesn't do it since they don't want to pay three goalies a NHL salary and give them NHL service time.

Getting ahead of myself here… but having some fun after the win.. are Gruba and Rinzel both going to be on PP1?
The D group next year is going to be REALLY good. The under classmen D men are gaining a ton of valuable experience this season through playing a lot of minutes as a result of only 1 of our top 5 D being an upper classman.
I’m usually not the wet fart on this board but Gruba and Whipple need A LOT of work on the defensive side of things from the viewings I’ve seen of them. Both are 4 year guys that will make big impacts in their college careers. The question is how soon. If Mikey comes back:
Koster-Chesley
Mittelstadt-Rinzel
Thomas-Gruba
Whipple
Thats pretty dang good.

Chesley has an NHL body and I would think he is a risk to leave early.
I was at the Hill Murray/Edina game last night (and will be again tonight). Halfway through the game, Jackson Nevers was mostly invisible. The second half, he was terrific and absolutely dominant! He’s going to be a nice player for the Gophers when he gets to campus!
Side note: where is that Dexheimer kid going to college? Holy moly can that kid skate!
Formerly known as davey j.
Edina/Hill-Murray two nights in a row? That’s interesting scheduling

I'm not quite hitting the alarm on Barto yet, but he went down this year to be "The Guy" and not be part of a 3 man rotation. I know his growth was hurt by coming in when Laffer left and then he hardly played last year. I still have hope he can figure it out.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
I assumed he would not be back the minute he chose to play USHL. He doesn’t go play USHL and then come back to the Gophers to be Airey’s back up. If he comes back it is to play majority of minutes or he’ll go somewhere else where he gets most starts.
If he isn’t getting the vast majority of play in juniors and have great stats I don’t see him in a Gopher uniform next year.

Don't they do this annually, or is there normally a day in-between?

On the risk of sounding pessimistic, Chesley is getting very bad advice if he thinks he’s playing in the NHL next year.
