More on Pahlsson.
I did some comps of Pahlsoson and Eric Haula, two Scandanavian born players.
I don't know what the conversion factor is for the Finnish and Swedish leagues but in 06-07 Haula played 40 games for a Fin U20 team as a 16 year old and scored 7 goals and 15 assists. Pahlsson played 45 games in 21-22 as a 17 year old and scored 19 goals and 21 assists, then followed up the next season as teh U20 captain, scoring 26 goals and 37 assists in 46 games.
Haula went to SSM as a 17 year old, then to the USHL as an 18 year old in 09-19, scoring 28 goals and 44 assists in 56 games for the Omaha Lancers.
Pahlsson is off to a big start in his rookie USHL year with Dubuque as a 19 year old. He has scored 10 goals and 9 assists in 12 games, which projects out to a 52-47-99 slash line for a full USHL season.
I think Haula was a bit more successful in international play, but Pahlsson seems to be a more prolific goal scorer than Haula, with lesser playmaking skill. They also are similar builds.
I think this is a solid commit.
Leo Gruba commits to the gophers.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Season is obviously young but the Gophers now have the top scoring forward and defenseman in the USHL committed and Barto’s been one of the top goalies as well.
Great add. Next year's class shaping up nicely despite loss of Eiserman.
That’s a great addition. Big time player.
I think this once again proves that Bob and Company have a vision and a game plan for the future. He may not have made a big splash on day one of the recruiting cycle, but he has been methodical.

Bob’s recruiting like there’s no tomorrow. Great week to cap off a great month in recruiting
Nice, I still say bringing him in at Xmas break may be beneficial.
Could be carrying 9 defensemen next year if there are no departures, though a lot of time between now and then.

I was just gonna say, the D pipeline is getting a little crowded. Maybe a decommit from Yakesh or something?
Remember, we live in the NIL world now. What percentage of kids do you think will end up on campus of their original college hockey commitment?

Still a good chunk. Do not see hockey being as impacted by NIL, and NIL likely only to have a real impact on college stars.
The Rink Live story on Gruba

Yakesh is in his last year of juniors, so he has to come in next year. I highly doubt Whipple would play a year of USHL after the NTPD. There’s also the additional wildcard of Fish and Koster still having a fifth year opportunity. That’s up to a potential 11 D available for 24-25.
Lots of things to shake out. Wouldn’t surprise me if they move on from Yakesh, but I’m guessing he was never recruited as a scholarship guy (or very little).
After a kind of shaky stretch of recruiting, a couple great gets in Pahlsson and Gruba.
Both will be 20 years old as freshmen too, which is a big plus.
Bonin will be in shambles
He hasn't chimed in yet on the Hole, not surprising
Wish I had the graphic design capabilities to make a shirt for Gruba that has his image and and the name Hans Gruba on top of the pic and on the bottom it says “Shoot…the…puck” in English and German
#DieHardReference
Gruba is 6”2 and will probably be on the shorter end of the D core in the coming years lol

Went over there out of morbid curiosity...no comment on Gruba; just drooling over Michigan's recruiting.
How have we managed without him?
Mooney listed as 5’6 145 lbs by the NTDP. I knew he was small but sheesh

Seems unlikely he grows much. Could be a blessing - size not going to be a huge issue in college but could definitely depress draft stock.
Edit: From a Gopher fan's perspective. Hope he gets to play out his NHL dream.
Mooney with a nice goal against Sweden. One more period to go.

Watched Mooney against the Elite league. It was clear to me that he is a great skater. Like others said, the height (lack of) might be beneficial for us to make him a 4 year college player.
That family (families?) seems to be focused on getting to the NHL as quick as possible. Will be interesting to see how much time we get out of him. If his advisor and NHL front office are smart about it he could be a three year Johnny Gaudreau type player.
@bluebandit24 In fairness, your favorite Gopherholer was complementary over Pahlsson. As a relatively new poster with zero history it’s peculiar how focused this board is on one individual.
Gopherhole in general is obsessed with recruiting rankings, regardless of sport. Appears to be a good fit.
BoninTheBear is sticking up for Bonin21? Hmmm.
Bonin21 made this site un-BEARable with negativity and Wolverinehusbandry. Pessimist to Nth dgree.
Interesting how many of his goals seem to come from that quick coast to coast rush after turnovers in the D zone
Little bit of a coming out party for target Kvasnicka, too. 4+1

I don't know. I think there is another poster who I suspect is him....

I grew up playing at the Hippodrome when Bonin played for the Gophers. Watched every game.
Graduated from the U but stopped watching towards the end of the Don’s regime. Last years team reignited the fire. Also awesome as I was able to bring my daughter with my Dad and I to Tampa.
Now wish I had chosen a different username ?

I as well.
You're good. I don't think you've ever approached what that dude brought here.
You're rehabilitating the honorable name of Bonin, keep up the good work.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Hayden Reid is a point per game player since committing
Teddy Townsend heating up for Waterloo. Now at 9 points in 10 gamed. From what I understand, he is there all year and not heading back to Eden Prairie. Could be an option in 2024.

Doubt it. More likely 2025. Snuggerud, Nelson, Brodzinski out. Ziemer, Hendrickson, Pahlsson in. That’s how I see it at least.

Sure. Just in the mold of a Jimmy Clark. Plan is for another year of juniors but first option if numbers get tight.
They have 14 forwards. If they're going to keep Michel they should carry 15 next year. You want a 5th line to make practice easier anyways.
Pahlsson, Hendrickson, Ziemer, Reid/Transfer/Flip
Loading up on some older/late-bloomer types for 2024. Staff has been busy.
