The game plan was clearly to be conservative and force Cloud to earn their offensive chances. Other than the first five minutes of the 3rd, it worked pretty well. St. Cloud produced absolutely nothing at 5X5 and had no business being on the PP five times. It wasn't as exciting as they usually are when the open it up and fly around the rink, but pretty hard to be mad with the results. Closer is going to back to back Frozen Fours. The Tech goalie gave up 8 goals to a Big Ten team yesterday. Closer has a goals against average under two playing Big Ten teams every weekend. Clearly the Tech goalie deserves to be a final 3 Richter candidate over him. ?

Was just telling my cousin if they play MI again they should play like this. Best D corps in the NCAA can handle it, not to mention a team that can make you pay foe mistakes.

The Gophers lead for all but 9 and half minutes of the game. With the lead there was no need to get over aggressive and play into Cloud's hands.
This team is able to win many different ways.
I said this after the first and second probably like everyone, by far the better team and looking really good but up by 1. Great job boys! They deserved it!
I wouldn't call wincav a DD by any stretch, but I didn't think the Gophers played that poorly. I think they went in with a purposefully conservative approach and having to go on the PK (5 or 6 times?) is going to limit opportunities offensively. They Gophers never looked outmatched and after the 1st period were pretty much even on FO's. This team has found many ways to win - and I think some fans think if they're not completely dominating it means something is wrong.

The Gophers were the better team. I was very very nervous when the officiating was one sided most of the game. Glad I bought my Tampa airfare and hotel last October.
