Good for Nick Michel.
Apparently I should’ve asked for more pregame. Wood check. Michel check.
wood has looked dominant tonight as he should give the opponent
Lot of random negative nellies in here. Thought they were fine. Think people don’t realize how much energy they can draw from the crowd and when you’re missing the student section f and just back from break with this opponent while down a quarter of your guys, shocking it would be sluggish. The wins and staying healthy are all that matters this weekend. Would like to see wood score one off his stick to get him going and whipple begley or michel score to get them on the books for their careers
One period into the game you've got two of the four you may want to buy a lotto ticket. If Whipple and Belgley score tonight it becomes you NEED to buy a lotto ticket. 😀
Snuggy is currently tied for 2nd in the country with 17 assists. So much for Snuggy just being a shoot first guy he is turning into Wayne Gretzky with the way he is passing. 😉
That was a pretty decent 5-on-5 PP.

Congrats to Nick Michel, great to see how happy his teammates and the coaches were for him.
Have we gotten a reason why Wood was so quickly dismissed from Team Canada? I just don’t get it.
Gruba is looking like he’s gonna be a good offensive defenseman.
Rinzel is gonna get arrested for attempted murder after that shot.

Wood produces too many points and doesn't take enough penalties so he wasn't a good fit for their team.
Supposedly it was because he isn't a great skater.
The Canadian team did a great job of skating into positions faster that allowed them to take more penalties and then skate really fast to the penalty box. 😉

So he is a liability on the ice… 😉
Keep your stick on the ice...
Beckett Hendrickson scores on the breakaway.
There is no stopping a Gopher on a breakaway. 😉
That was a decent play.

@gator Goal! HENDRICKSON 5-1
That’s how you approach the net in a SO. Fast and easy… not going for an afternoon skate and trying to be cute and fancy.

Defense? Hello?

He hits the pipe too much too
Pretty underwhelming series. Hopefully they play better with more guys back.
3 of the 4 goals were kind of flukes/total D breakdowns, so I take solace in that.

Successful weekend. Onto Ohio State.
2 wins against a clearly inferior opponent and stayed healthy while shaking the rust off. Mission accomplished
Was kind of surprised we didn’t see Wiese at all in the third
Seeing Michel score and the reaction on the bench will be one of my highlights for the year. Feel good story of the season.
Given the relative chaos of the lines it was impressive to see how well MN played (for the most part) from top to bottom.
Loved seeing a breakaway goal! I thought I walked out behind a 900lb gorilla. 😎
14 has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of increased playing time, fun to see his game and confidence improve and grow.
Need to be smarter in the D zone, couple guys can be a little too cavalier with positioning. #2 got burned a couple times this weekend losing coverage.
I am impressed how well these guys seem to mix and match without losing much chemistry
If there is a pile of players on the ice chances are Michel is in there somewhere

This weekend was about cranking up the offense. One of the reasons I don't like the team playing way below their skill level is they get into a run-and-gun style of play without regard to defensive responsibility.
It's probably no big deal, but games like this don't help much aside from a tune up before league play starts up again.

Rinzel is always looking to create offense and I’m fine with it
Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled with his creativity but all players need to be responsible defensively.

Good Lord they were without a handful of players and won twice. Comfortably.
Top 5 worst sweeps apparently.
64th ranked. Just saying. As I said before, tonight's first period was pretty much a 5-on-5 power play.
I personally am satisfied overall, but being the Gopher fan I am, I wanted MOAR.

The Gophers have 7 of the top 20 players in the country in +/-
Wood and Clark +16
Koster +14
Gruba +13
Rinzel is tied for 21st in the country at +12

you could feel the intensity drop pretty quick after they scored the first couple and then they were looking for "plays" rather than just hammering on them. sure guys were a little bit fatigued given the short lines and not having our usual combos.
anyway, who cares they were wins and they played someone else and shook the rust off. next week will certainly be tougher, especially on the road and against a team that's ripped off 5 in a row pending what happens on Sunday vs Michigan
Lamb is tied for 2nd in the country in goals with 13
Snuggy is tied for 1st in the country in points with 28, tied for 2nd in the country with 17 assists, and tied for 9th in the country with 11 goals

Kurth and Wood are tied for 7th in the country in points with 24
For defensemen Rinzel leads the country in goals with 8 and in points with 22. He is tied for 3rd in the country in assists with 14.
