Yeah he’s weird. Goes on a tizzy about only being positive and with the next breath bashes Cooley. Might give that one the ol unfollow.

Is that the True Gopher Hockey Rubes page? Someone there tried to tell me to ignore GPL and I told them to pound sand.

@slap-shot

There’s a reason why GPL has sponsors and has a good standing with the “U”. While other groups have the “U” telling them to cease and dismiss.

I remember when it got started up a few years ago and I thought “hey, another Gopher hockey fan site. This is great”. Initially it was all pretty light hearted and fun but it has gotten a little strange over time. I frequent it less and less every season and the few times I pop over I’m reminded why. I know there are people on that site that are just good, passionate Gopher hockey fans but I get weird vibes more often than not when I’m scrolling through these days.

He has also bashed Jup, vegoe, and GPL many times.   He has taken many photo's from Jup with never giving credit

He's an aggregator and there's a lot of that going around these days. No hard feelings, I'm a creator and I'm always looking for feedback!

He HATES Jess, yet he continues to post his stories.

I find the Jess hate just as amusing at the Cooley leaving early hate. That's the reason for my ban in that group for defending Jess and Cooley.

I'm glad I only periodically check them out and seem to mostly come across game updates and previews. I've completely missed the ripping on Cooley and Jess for example.

Exactly.  If you say Seeler gets an extra 2 for instigating, given how the fight started, I can see that.  But Fischer may have connected with more punches than Seeler did... he needed the 5/10 as well.

Casey turned 25 a little over a month ago. He is just starting to come into his prime. I find it interesting when people get down on players in the NHL who are 21-24 years olds. The NHL is a man's game and it's not usually for players in their early 20s to struggle.

Did you just buy another jersey last week? (Not sure why you'd have a Penguins jersey, but... never know with you)

I had thought Sam retired and was working an office job when Bob called him to be an extra skater.  Must have continued after that.

Forgive me if I’ve mentioned this here before, but when my dad was the goalie for the Vocational Volts a Reed Larson slapper cracked his sternum. 😳

I am probably one of the few here to remember that Vocational was a thing. Didn’t know they were the Volts. I didn’t even know they had hockey.

So, on the St. Paul side, does anyone know the nickname of Mechanic Arts?

I could not remember and had to look it up.  One of my HS coaches was a Trainer!

Thanks, wouldn’t have come up with Trainers, but now that I see it, it seems very familiar. Looks like both Mechanic Arts and Vocational closed in ‘76. Wonder if any Gophers ever came out of Vocational? Mechanic Arts turned out U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer, 1960 gold medalist and NCAA baseball champion Jack McCartan.

This one I knew....McCartan played at St Paul Marshal and was one of, if not the first, St. Paul school to close.

I think it was near the Cathedral.  No idea what their nickname was.  😀

Your one error. 😉

I only know because one of Jack's sons is a friend of friend.  When I mentioned I where live in St. Paul his son told me his dad grew up not too far from where I currently live.  This was the first time I had ever heard of St. Paul Marshall High, which is understandable since it closed round '53 or '54.  In fact, when he said his dad when to Marshall I thought he meant Marshall-University HS in Dinkytown which closed around 1970.

Get off of my lawn.

Yeah, he’s been inconsistent with scoring. I saw he was demoted to the 3rd line a little bit ago but this last game v OTT, he was back w/ Matthews & Marner.

An interesting article about players who decide to become college free agents. Wheeler was part of the article and it surprised me that it was the Coyotes that didn't want Wheeler and not vice versa.

Blake Wheeler ended up a free agent prior to the 2008-09 season because the Coyotes, who had drafted him No. 5 in 2004, didn’t want him. New management, new development team and not much interest. That wasn’t the first time the Phoenix/Arizona franchise botched a decision, and Wheeler was ultimately grateful that the Coyotes let him know during his junior year at the University of Minnesota so he could plan out his NHL free-agency tour. He chose the Bruins, kicking off a 16-year career that’s still going.
