It will be a very emotional weekend for the UMD program and their fans. ?
No F the Bulldogs chants this weekend, please.
while I agree with the sentiment…I can’t guarantee the student section at Amsoil will follow suit (Saturday night) ? Always fun when the two original MN WCHA teams collide.

Watching Mikey Koster on Friday will be a sight for sore eyes.
Bob confirmed on his radio show that he has been cleared to play. He said, like Nevers, it will take him a couple of weeks to get into hockey shape while playing. Glad to see him back.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey

This is a reminder that you are signed up for the Men's Hockey Pep Band gig this Friday.
A couple of notes:
- Due to a change in the Marching Band schedule, this is now a joint event with the current Hockey Pep Band and us.
- Call time is 6:20pm. You'll want to enter Mariucci on the West Side (between Mariucci & Ridder), sign in on the sheet, and then head up the stairs to find us at the top of section 14.
- We will have the paper music copies at Mariucci, but if you want to download the electronic version you can find it here:z.umn.edu/pb2324music
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

So is everyone but Rud healthy for this weekend?
Bob did not offer up any info on any other injuries. Last thing I saw was Rud was "day to day".

Both teams coming off getting swept, I'm calling this the "somebody has to win" series.
Getting swept by Mankato II, it looked like Minnesota is struggling to find its identity after losing its 5 NHLers. They gave up a ton of shots on Thursday and probably deserved better on Friday but lacked any semblance of last season's potent offense.
Last year's Cooley line bailed them out of games in which they were mediocre. They don't have that luxury this season and will need a more balanced team effort with a little more structure.
Can't believe Biondi is a senior already. Time flies.
I know there was a rumor Scheetz might ditch Vermont because he was seen in Gopher gear. Speaking of Mr. Hockey winners, the Gophers haven't had one since Brodzinski but I wonder if Max Strand would ditch Vermont, too, and go back to the market.
They have added another lane in lot 37. It's not open yet, but I hope that will help with the traffic flow at the end of the games.
So still three gates but now essentially three lanes wide inside the gates? Not sure it'll help much since the road you exit to is still one lane, no? Might just move the bottleneck to wear the road meets the lot entrance.
I purchased a single game pass for tonight and was surprised Lot33 was an option, let alone my only option. interested to experience it after hundreds of Lot 37 experiences.
I imagine it will be permanent for UMD and I would guess the same for UMN. There will be many eyes on the first UMD game since the tragedy and they are setting a good example. Big Ten and NCHC rivals - Follow suit. Especially looking at you, Michigan and UND.
There will be rapid product development in the neck guard space to make them lighter, more breathable, look cooler, etc.
I assume and a quick check confirms, neck guards are likely a scarce product right now. If I'm a company like CCM, I make them free to order (somehow limit by household within reason) for the next year. You'd build massive goodwill in the hockey community.

I think most people will want the shirts with built in cut resistant neck. They're about $100 each.
Pitlick (did have 2 goals in the exhibition game against Bemidji State), Kurth, and the defense men have yet to score. I would love to see all three score tonight/this weekend.

I think Pitlick will start scoring soon. He's done everything but get one past the goalie.
Pitlick: freshmen season 30 games played, 33 shots, 5 goals - last season 40 games played, 64 shots, 11 goals - this season 6 games, 17 shots, 0 goals. He is getting his shots/chances more this season (than previous season) so the goals are likely to come.
I also think Kurth and the D men will help out offensive a lot this season.
Kurth had 7 goals last season as a freshmen which is good. I believe he has a good chance to get double digits this season. There are plenty of games for that to still happen.
The D men last season scored 30 goals. LaCombe 9 goals, Koster 6 goals, L. Mittelstadt 5 goals, Faber 4 goals, Johnson 4 goals, Chesley 2 goals. Yes LaCombe, Faber, and Johnson moving on will almost certainly result in the D scoring less goals this season but with Koster, L. Mittelstadt, Chesley, and Rinzel I believe we have a bunch of D who will chip in and help out scoring quite a bit this season.
One thing I find interesting about Pitlick is his freshmen season he scored a goal every 6.6 shots, last season as a sophomore he scored a goal every 6.4 shots, this season 17 shots no goals. He is due.
