Bucci is awful...listening to him call a game is pure torture. Him and Melrose I think was actually named in a UN Torture Report as cruel and unusual punishment!
I appreciate his passion, but he should stick to being in the studio he is much better there.
Man I miss Gary Thorne...
Thorne is in a class that includes him, and him only. That's just unfair to mention him.
I am not comparing them...because Gary Thorne in a coma owns Bucci. Tom Mees owns him too. Clay Matvick would make Bucci his biotch.
Bucci is the classic ESPN style announcer...he is like Beth Mowans only he actually has a little knowledge. He has to TALK A MUCH HIGHER PITCH WHEN HE THINKS HE NEEDS TO MAKE IT SOUND EXCITING!!1!!!1 It never feels natural, it feels forced. Give me the guy who did the 2003 Title Game (not the color guy the PBP guy) he knew how to call a game.
Again I am sure he is a good dude and he does love college hockey which is great but lots of people love college hockey who have no business calling a game. His knowledge is best between periods or pre and post. He is just awful keeping up with plays in real time.
Did not notice Huston much, if at all. We did a great job keeping him on the perimeter.
One nice rush on a weak cross ice (give the coach a heart attach pass) cleaering pass.
Otherwise most of the time I noticed Huston it seemed Huglen was stripping the puck from him. I don't think Huston has played against a rink rat until today.

I don’t know a lot about quinny I know I don’t want anything to do with Michigan again. I’m for winning the championship and yeah would be sweet to take down Michigan but if they beat quinny it’s all forgotten about if the celebration is on anyway when it comes down to who they beat. We’re in a 20 year drought so unless we become a dynasty and can feel like I’d rather best this guy or that guy I’m not wanting to see Michigan for this one.
When’s the last time you saw a team have that bad of puck luck and win by 4 goals?
When is the last time you saw a team this good? This might sound like hyperbole to people but it is the best Gopher team in my time as a Gopher fan (basically the past 40 years).
I realize people will disagree especially if they lose on Saturday but winning by far the toughest conference in the county by more then 6 games is very telling.
Past National Championship teams didn't dominate the best conference like this team did.
I have only been watching regularly since '99...but this is easily the best top to bottom team we have had in my tenure. '03 sort of compares (our 4th line was as good as almost every teams 2nd line that year) but in reality I would take this years team over that team all day.
This team may not win on Saturday (I will be working so I wont watch live sadly) but there is no doubt in my mind they are the top team in the country. Michigan is the only other team worthy of the discussion and I just never trust them.
If we play Michigan and both teams play to their top level it will be a wake up call to the rest of college hockey. The Big Ten is the class of college hockey.

Well now I f**king love him
I didn't realize I had such control over your tastes! this could be fun 😉 ?
Been watching since 86’ thanks to my father. I’m glad I got the chance to experience 2 gopher championships watching the game with him before he passed away. Today would have been his birthday, so for me this game was never in doubt. We had help from up above! We finish this on Saturday!!!!
It's getting to the point that almost every time Cooley has the puck they could call a penalty on the opponent. They're either hooking, holding or slashing him trying to slow him down.

I will say he usually shows animosity towards the gophers, but I felt he was actually neutral/leaning gophers in this game. But I digress, he was drunk! lol
My friend sent me a picture of him and Melrose before the game and he said he was drunk then.
I think it will start out tight, but the KSC line is just at a different level and special players make special plays at special times. This game will break on a highlight reel play from these guys. The BU goalie is solid, but it’s hard to defend a between the legs drop pass to probably the best hands in hockey. My prediction is this line will make an amazing passing play to break down the D and then drop it to a wide open defenseman cheating into the middle of the slot, either Koster or LaCombe.
Once they are ahead and BU has to open it up, you’ll see a goal or two on an odd man rush and then a ENG to seal it.
Going Koster from Knies and Cooley.
Brodzinski from Nevers and Johnson (2-1 break)
BU goal
Snuggy from Knies and Cooley on a 1-timer ppg.
BU pp goal
Pitlick from Huglen and Faber on odd man rush.
ENG from Cooley, assist to Knies after he picks the pocket of a BU forward.
After watching the presser I just like Huglen more and more. Just impressed by him on and off the ice. One of my faves.
He had half the room completely baffled with his green shirt / go Rams comment. That was priceless!

Is this why Barry isn’t doing the Quinn, Mich game?

Huglen is a flat out stud. Such a good hockey player.
Seems to be a rise to the occasion type.

Portilo played poorly & lost the game for Mich.. Quinn is great at defense & has a bit of offense. Gophs had had a little trouble against this style Quinn plays. I hope they can adjust. Close needs to be…. Well, Close.

For my money, Ben Holden is the best PxP guy in college hockey. Really disappointing that ESPN didn't have him call any tourney games this year.
I've never has as much confidence watching a Gophers team during tight spots as with this one. Just a pure set of studs top to bottom, and Bob is as dialed in as he's ever been.
Heading to the airport shortly- wish I was going to FL.
So I’m not trying to claim Cowgirls fame of peeing out a goal…But. I got up last night at 1:45 to go to the bathroom and during that time Cooley scored twice. It wasn’t desperation time but I have to think I helped a little. ?
When people tell me I’ll regret not having kids, I say that’s okay I know a really good place to cry. It’s my vacation home.
I have one Diet Coke every day. Yesterday I said nope can’t do it, couldn’t see how drinking anything from a can with those colors would help anything. ?
I'm not sure what more people want to see from Faber but I thought he played solid. Just seeing some comments on Twitter just make me scratch my head what more he needs to do. He is not a point machine, his game is so much more than that. Johnson had a terrific game last night as well.

Knies is a beast. I know he only had 1 point, but man, he is like a dog on a bone when he is pursuing the puck.
I noticed Kurth may have tweaked his ankle in the third period. Hope a day of rest helps.
The Gophers fans showed up in force.
Someone yelled Go Holy Cross at us as we went to the arena... It has been 17 years.. Move on.
I think the beers are $17 at the arena.. Glad we fill up pregame at the bar.
As far as Bucci and Melrose. First, if they are calling the Gopher games, it must mean the Gophers are doing very well.. Second, I have found a way of avoiding hearing them--- Going to the games in person ?
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey

The one time I really noticed Hutson was on Mittlestadt's first goal. He was within arms reach of Huglen, and didn't do ANYTHING to move him out of the crease. Watching the replay, Hutson had ample time to try and move Huglen off his spot and protect Commesso's vision, and he didn't do a thing.
For a supposed all-world defenseman, Hutson didn't show me much defensively.
