The post season road to St Louis starts this weekend. The Gophers went 3-1 vs the Irish, splitting at Mariucci with a 5-2 win and a 4-3 OT loss and winning both in South Bend.

Would love to take care of business in two games and stay healthy. No need to make this dramatic.
Sweep em to keep Jackson at 599 wins on the career.

Do we know when tickets will be available to the public?
We haven't had too many 1st round B1G Series in recent years. So friendly reminder to everyone, low attendance has been the norm due to many season ticket holders not opting in.
So GPL Nation, this is a good time to get those non-Core Hockey Friends out to a Game! Plenty of Seats available and prices have been cheaper than the a standard regular season Ticket in the past.
2023-2024 Season Avg Tickets Sold was 9,225 (Excluding these two Low turnout games the Avg was 9,628)
Gm1 Rd 1 vs Penn 4,296
Gm2 Rd 1 vs Penn 5,363
2022-2023 - Gophers #1 with 1st Round Bye
2021-2022 - Gophers #1 with 1st Round Bye
2020-2021 - COVID Year, Tournament played at Notre Dame (Basically no Fans)
2019-2020 - COVID ended season
2018-2019 (1st round Attendance was so low I would prefer not to post it LOL)
Do we know when tickets will be available to the public?
For the 1st round against ND? They were available yesterday, maybe even Friday night.

I wonder why the University wants to compete against the MN State Hockey tournament? Wouldn't 4pm or 5pm start times help attendance?
This might be a stupid question, but, where on the University website can you pre-pay for parking? I vaguely remember doing this for playoffs last year, but, I can't remember where.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

This is my issue. Last year I was able to do the Saturday double dip. Game 2 vs Penn St at 4pm followed by running over to the X to see the champ game at 7pm.

ITs possible they don't get to make the decision on game time...

yep this is very doubtful to be a U decision.
expect the games will be a ghost town as they almost always are for the 1st round series, which is too bad
Tickets are only $18. No one can complain about that.

Its a tough sale with the Boy’s Tourney, but at $18, should be close to a full house on both Friday and Saturday.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Wasn’t there at least a decent crowd last year for the quarter finals while the HS tourney was going on? Or is that what some of you were referencing where the Saturday game was in the afternoon so if you really wanted to you could rush over to St Paul for the AA final after the gopher game?
It’s been 8 years since I’ve been to the Saturday night AA but that’s one valuable ticket one would like to take advantage of and not miss so I can totally get the gopher game time dilemma. Not to mention at least watch on a screen bigger than a phone.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Likely half full. Nothing wrong with that, just poor timing with the tourney and short notice on tickets
GPL Podcast on Weds night @ 7:30 pm with Pat MichelettiEdit by Jup... Pat is being moved to the following week since his Hibbing team is playing in the tournament Wednesday night.
Jack Ramsey jumping in for Pat for the show this week at our normal 9:30 time.

Guessing the Friday game time was set for TV. Women play on Fox9+ at 430, so didn't want any conflicts.

So even with an early 3:30 start last year it was only little over half sold on Saturday's Round 1 playoff game.
We should take into account @eric-vegoe scanned ticket #s. If I remember correctly on average ~75% of ticket holders show up over a regular season, I don't have last year's exact numbers But I would guess these playoff games are closer to 90% because Season Ticket holder have to opt in, while all the single game tickets are bought within one week of the games. I know the Big Ten Championship Games felt like 99% of people showed up.
Tickets sold | Tickets scanned % Estimate | In Arena # | |
2024 Regular Season Avg | 9,628 | 75% | 7,221 |
2025 Regular Season Avg | 9,769 | 75% | 7,327 |
2024 Playoff Saturday | 5,363 | 90% | 4,827 |
I think the best we can hope for this weekend is ~5K in the building. The Student section will bring it, if I was the U I would open up two more sections for the students for these playoff games and get as many students as possible into Mariucci, but there must be something holding them back from doing that other than available seats.
Wouldn't count on the Student Section being too insane this weekend. Spring Break is next week. I'm sure plenty are leaving town as soon as their classes are done this week.
I might look at hitting the HS games Friday afternoon, then heading over to watch the Gophers Friday night. Not a bad option for a hockey fix.
Just bought tickets for Friday and Saturday! We account for 2 or 3 times the average person for noise so we should help a little 😆

So if you can pass as a 22 year old and want to re-live your college years there may be room in the student section!

The NCAA must be setting this price, Gopher Hockey regular season price per ticket was what around $65.00
Aloha!
Prices are set by the Conference.

A new detail I was unaware of. Makes sense for Student tickets. Already just barely over half the price of a regular season game (at Season Ticket pricing instead of the per game differences), so, certainly no complaints from me.

It all depends where you sit. I have season tix and they cost $500 per seat and $100 donation. So at $500 per seat they average out at about $28 a game or with the donation they are $33 per game. There are a couple of sections that don't have the donation as well and the closer you get to center ice those donations go up. Obviously walk up ticket prices vary by game and where you sit. But, I would guess you could get in the door for most games for around $50, with a couple of exceptions a bit higher and a few games for around $20 as well.

This is true, but a school can go lower on the price if they wish. MN has done this for students in the past and the school just makes up the cost to the league.
I see Ohio State is allowing students to attend the games for free with their student ID. They may be doing this since they had to move to Nationwide Arena for the weekend.

makes sense especially if the students gotta travel a little off campus, makes it more attractive to counter uber expense.😁
From Bob's radio show.
Bob said that if they were tied late against Penn St, he would have pulled his goalie to try to win the conference title.
He wishes that the B1G playoffs were only 2 weekends.
No mention of injuries.

Was there ever an update on Pahlsson? Thought they said he didn't return in one of the games.

No update of Pahlsson or J Mitts. Both appeared to have upper body injuries. J Mitts was out on Sat, Pahlsson left during the 1st on Saturday. Wally did not ask Bob about any injuries and Bob did not offer anything on his own. Maybe he will give an update during the media scrum this week.

This is a no-brainer for me. I get that there is financial reason but just do a best of 3 the first weekend and then a final four at the top seed and be done with it.

agree 100% and then you just add one more bye during the season. All the teams could use that extra bit of rest and I'm sure would be fine with it.
Thought last weekend was a pretty gutsy solid series for the most part. This weekend and every other for the next month they better come out hard and STAY out hard. If anyone has been watching the state tournament, the vast majority of the goals have been in the paint. Learn from the high school teams Gophers. One too many passes, not putting the puck on net, and not forechecking RELENTLESSLY are not going to win now. It does not matter who your opponent is. Intensity and continually attacking the zone are what wins. Hope they have been watching. They have that game. They need to BRING that game every game, all game.
Any word on EP and Jmitts status?

That's good to see.
All lower seeds are winning right now in the B10. Gophs need to come out ready
Embarrassing.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
My god soulie
Airey would have made that save. Why isn't Airey playing? 😉
Well Souliere you gifted wrapped that goal so we now get to see how you react/response from it.
So no stream for this game? Big Ten app doesn't have the Minnesota game.
I should say my tv doesn't list Gophs/ND. I can watch Wisco/OSU and Mich/PSU. Son of a b.
Fox 9 has it, and in the corner it does say "B1G+"....
