That’s a confidence building weekend.  Great momentum into next week.

Watching that bench celebrate at the horn was special to watch, they just worked their asses off and got the reward. Pride on ice and I couldn’t be more proud of those guys!

@upnorthkid Whats most surprising is that the opponent has kids on scholarship, they practice, and they're actually trying to win the game as well.

Sarcasm aside, I saw Koester hugging Soulierre big time after the game. Even with an amicable separation, i'm sure all the Gophers didn't want him to leave Happy Valley with 2 Ls.

A lot to like about this team, but I think 20 is emerging as my favorite player on the squad. Just an absolute rock solid bulldog out there. Glad he wears the 'M'. I think both Luke and John are winning hockey players, hope John can get back out there soon.

14 is turning it up, too. I think he'll be a big-time player in a year or two. Seems to be around the puck an awful lot, and has a lot of grit to his game. I could see him having a Brody Lamb type rise, with a little more physicality. Sort of Ziemer-lite. Which isn't a knock at all, a lot to like about both Hendrickson and Ziemer's games.

How are we so bad at breakaways?

@chris-eckes I think because our goaltending hasn't been very good since that one Jack LaFontaine year. So the moves in practice work on Close and Souliere but not good goalies like the rest of the league has.

Good morning sunshine. Yep, our goalies suck.

Close stats-- 21-22 1.95 GAA 925 Sv%

22-23-- 2.02 GAA 927 Sv%

23-24 -- 2.36 GAA 923 Sv %

Souliere this year-- 2.18 GAA and 922 Sv%

Augustine is the only B1G goalie with a better Sv% this year than Souliere

I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey

Best player the last 2 weekends was 7, controlled play every shift he was on the ice.

Regarding breakaways, would love to see the Gophers statistics versus others as my gut tells me we feel they are poor based on emotion.  I can’t think of the last breakaway goal that was scored against us (excluding shootouts).

It’s not Motzko’s coaching so much it’s the players in OT and SO.  But it does end up his responsibility.

It's absolutely coaching. You can tell that not only do they not practice 3x3, it's obvious that they have never even discussed the concept of it. The number of time that Souliere froze the puck with nothing but Gophers around him is proof of that.

IDK about that last part, Souliere probably covered the puck because the players in front of him let up three huge chances in under a minute and looked absolutely gassed. He was probably trying to get a line change if anything.

Then he doesn't understand the concept of 3x3. Just like I said

J22- When you are at the practices have you ever seen them practice 3×3?

@jankwi01 Please tell me this is a bit you’ve come up with. Otherwise you’re embarrassing yourself.

Why does uscho continue to list us above mi state in the big ten standings?  I presume some algorithm that is going off some number in the stat line and not incorporating the head to head comparison for seeding purposes?   Just curious, someone asked me this after Fridays game when we were tied for points and I didn’t know, it’s still like that.

Maybe they figure we’ll be at the top in the end anyway and they’re just being lazy about it.😁

The standings are likely just like I have it here.

Points Desc

Reg Wins Desc

Reg Loss Asc

When you do that, MN is the top team. I had to make a manual change in order to get MSU above MN since my software doesn't take head to head in to consideration.

I'm sure I'll get a tongue lashing, and everyone has a right to their opinion but, my guy, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Every week, your 'Debbie Downer' schtick is akin to week old bread.
