LET'S RIDE! Indeed....
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

Anything can happen!
(unless we face a freaking ECHA team in the finals.....flipping pukes...)

I failed to acquire tickets, I was looking forward to making the trip to Sioux Falls. I will be cheering on from the family room instead. I like or chances Thursday. Go Gophers!
What's the "cliff note" version of what Bob had to say? Thanks
1. Always very exciting to get into the NCAA tournament. Never gets old.
2. Sioux Falls is an underrated city. Says fans that travel won't be disappointed in what they see on the ice.
3. Noted that the Gophers are 6-3 in the their last 3 NCAA tournaments. They have one crushing loss they have to take to their grave, but they need to rely on the tournament experience this team has.
4. There has been a big emphasis on faceoffs and winning draws.
5. Need to rely on Close, Nelson, Brodzinski, Nevers, and Koster (the old guys).
A win on April 13th will make the crushing loss we all have to take to our graves a bit easier to stomach.
Speaking of, does there seem to be a lot more butterflies or is it just me?

Was looking back at the regional game in 2021. Nevers scored two goals so hopefully he does it again! Was also surprised to see 6 guys from that Omaha team still on the roster this year. Kirby Proctor, Nolan Sullivan, Nolan Krenzen, Jimmy Glynn, Brock Bremer, Matt Miller, and Jack Randl.

where’s that trash panda with the abacus when you need him? 😉
You could be right. I might also recall a very ill-advised and ill-timed penalty that certainly contributed to the ultimate demise. One play rarely makes the game I know but that call at that time might have been the tipping point. Was it the right call? I do not know, but if cooler heads prevail there, which can come with experience (not always), we do not take that penalty. There is plenty of liability to spread around of course. Hopefully we can play our best and smartest hockey the next couple weeks and get it done!
I don’t wanna rehash that game but the team forgot to play for like 2/3 of the game and if it was a closer evenly played game I’d be a lot more willing to blame that particular decision.
This year’s team is certainly capable of winning against Omaha and maybe even BU but we haven’t really seen this team beat a good opponent twice in an row all year so I’m admittedly a bit skeptical. That Michigan road series is about all I can think of.

probably should've swept Mich St early (the win/tie series that Augustine stole the points in with 44 saves on Friday) and played 5 great periods against them at Munn (obviously you can't do that and get away with it in the postseason against most teams). Agree completely with M&G they probably deserved the sweep at Bucky and played 2 great games. But that's really it on the year. The sleepwalking through large portions of games or even periods this year has been frustrating. I don't expect them to dominate every shift, but the wheels need to be going every single shift and the intensity needs to be there. This team CAN beat anyone, but they've also shown they can let teams stay in games and just coast for long periods of time. Either the super seniors (and Snuggy) need to have the group locked in or it will be a short postseason.
In regards to Omaha, Denver frustrated the hell out of them forcing them to dump it in from the neutral zone and then used their D speed to get clean breakouts and then absolutely smothered them by staying on them while both on offense and in the defensive zone. Omaha doesn't strike me as a team with a ton of speed from watching them play UND a couple times this year and then the DU game. I think if we try play this sit back/passive game (similar to what we did vs Q and what we did against Michigan) that it will let them stay in it more than if we press in the neutral zone. Puck possession will be important but clean breakouts and being hard at the blue lines I think is more the key in this game.
This team has just been too doggone inconsistent for me to have high expectations of them winning it all. That said, if the team we saw in January and 1st half of Feb shows up we can do it. Someone has to win 4 in a row. It might as well be us.

Nolan Sullivan was senior teammates with Casey Mittlestadt, Nick Lievermann, and North Dakota’s Hunter Johanness in 2016-2017. That’s a while ago, lol. Bobby Brink was a freshman at Minnetonka that year.

Exactly. They can play great & then next game lay an egg. Early season is understandable but not late season like this year.
I wonder when the team left for SF. One of their potential routes, I90, from Jackson to Worthington has a no travel advisory because of Blizzard like conditions and ice on the road. Could make for a long travel day.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
Around Mankato the weather is crappy but the roads are terrible but not great. Looks like the stretch from Windom to Worthington is the worst area but the rest of the way looks manageable. No surprise that area is in the worst shape, usually is on Hwy 60.

Story just posted on the StarTribune site on sky high ticket prices for MO regional. 3000 seats, 3 teams with traveling fans means ND are looking at forking out the $$$. My response: boo 🤬 hoo!
When people tell me I’ll regret not having kids, I say that’s okay I know a really good place to cry. It’s my vacation home.
Unfortunately I'll be in Red Lodge Montana this week so I can't make it to SF. I was in Red Lodge last year during the Frozen Four, lots of bad memories... lol
Hopefully Gopher hockey doesn't ruin my Ski trip two years in a row.

Enjoy! Red Lodge is fantastic. My wife and I have skied there a number of times and its the best place ever considering you never wait in lift lines if you go during the week. Check out Piccola Cucina Ox Pasture, we tried it in December and loved it. Fantastic Italian food.
The Lazy M is one of my favorite runs. Fast, groomed and long.

Please avoid the slow start that has plagued this team at times. The semi vs. Michigan can't play out again this weekend. Looked uninterested and very slow. Let play with speed, show them Gopher hockey and make it to St. Paul! Our suite awaits lets go boys!!

They took 35 to Albert Lee and then 90 over to SF.... Avoided 169/60 through Mankato.

Living in Tampa I have to drive past Amalie Arena pretty frequently...still ties my stomach in knots every time I have to see it. The only thing that can heal those wounds is to see the guys hoist the trophy in St. Paul...
Got all my packing done tonight since I work late tomorrow. I shoved as much maroon and gold into my suitcase as I could, I hope we can shove as much maroon and gold as possible into the arena Thursday night as well! 48 hours from now I hope we are celebrating a big W for the guys!

Seems like the safest route since the DOT focuses more on those roads than the state highways.

Looking at the arena now that allotments have been sent out by the U, looks like each fan base must've been offered a corner. No idea who's in each one (I'd assume we're not next to Omaha), but 2 corners very poorly sold and 2 corners well sold (Gophers and one other). Would assume it's Omaha so should be a good atmosphere for that one. Upper deck only about 1/3 full but lower on sides is sold out with only the corners having tickets left. We'll see how much it changes and if the other schools just haven't released theirs back yet, but making me optimistic there will be some crowd to feed off for the Gophers to avoid any sleepwalking.
Edit: Gopher fans, if you want to go there are plenty of tickets left!
Outside of the things you can't control (puck luck and officials) I see a very close game. I like the Gophers chances if Justin Close controls his rebounds and we don't allow Omaha to play whack hockey and get greasy goals. I'm going with 3-2 Gophers.
I'm considering just flying solo tomorrow... Not a whole lot going on at work and I have the time.
you know the right answer to this 😉
Yup. Bought a ticket and booked a room. Can only do tomorrow, but whatever. Belly up somewhere and watch the Denver game, then go watch Celebrini and BU as a warm up for the main event.
Would love to go, but their record in the handful of games I've attended in hte past several years has not been good at all. Only win I recall is first game in Michigan this year. (Although they are 100% in frozen Fours I've attended.)
