I think the skating is better and goalie reactions are more realistic but the difference isn't that much. If you want the roster update and like to play online I'd upgrade. Otherwise wait til you see a deal online
I heard gameplay is a lot more realistic (cheap shots after the whistle draw fights, fighting engine is way more realistic, etc.)
Haven't played it yet but am really considering buying it since last one I bought was NHL 11
Drop 11 like a bad habit and pick up 13 or 14 for the new skating engine. Makes the game 10000000000000000x better.Well I haven't played 11 in a long time (probably 2 years). My buddy bought 13 and I'd go chill at his house and play it sometimes. I really enjoyed it.
Just worried that NCAA 14, along with the XBox 1 and new CoD game are going to make NHL14 less appealing haha

Broke down and bought GTA V and NHL 14 on Sunday after the Vikings game. Did end up getting one basically for free after trading a massive stockpile of old games.
I've played GTA for about 4 hours now. It's been pretty fun, though I was getting really annoyed by Franklin when I first started. The level of detail is insane.
Picked up FIFA 14 after class today and 24 FUT gold packs for preordering. I better get some good players in those packs!

The only thing that sucks is that you get one pack a week for 24 weeks. I just started playing FUT during the preview and it's actually kind of a fun mode. I hope the World Cup is a DLC this year.
Really excited to get FIFA this year. The physics on the demo seemed really nice. The players actually have some weight, and don't feel like they're gliding around out there. You can no longer stop on a dime and cut in behind the defender, which is great. I've also been hearing that the CPU takes its time with the build up, and that there's actually a noticeable difference in how some teams play.
That was always my biggest complaint with FIFA. Teams like Barcelona and Newcastle would pretty much play the exact same way.
For those with GTA V: Listen to what Lester tells you on assassination missions. He gives you stock advice that can make you a lot of money. Wish I would have realized it earlier...
Picked up GTA V and have only had a chance to play a few hours - can't wait to get back home and play some more (visiting family in MN now).
Loving the game so far. Within minutes of playing, I found myself in a tractor on a rural road in the hills, slamming into people and pushing their cars off the road and down a steep embankment.

I found a tractor at a construction site and used the bucket on the front to slide underneath cars and flip them up in the air. Including a firetruck.
Where does one go to get to the stock market?

On your phone. D pad up. Then go to the internet. It's under the "Money and Finances" tab, or whatever it's called.
There are two markets: the LCN, which is the market that is based off your in game world. And BAWSAQ (lol) which is based off the GTA Online world, so once GTAO goes live, that one will really start fluctuating.

Just finished the main story line in GTA V! Much more side stuff to do, but I loved the main story.
And after the final heist, I have tons of money
Just picked GTA 5 up on Friday, it's a blast so far. The ability to switch between charachters was a genious idea. It really helps add variety to a franchise that I felt was stale in GTA 4.
I finally figured out that there is a "Pure Shot" button (LT) in FIFA

Now if only Spurs could score like that in real life, haha.
My son wants to buy an Xbox 1. He has the 360. What's the difference? Is it worth the $$? Are the games compatible? Are the new games $60 like the 360? Any insights? I'd like to say no, but it is his money. Whatever help you have, I thank you.

Games are still the same price (I'm assuming they are, I haven't seen any rabble rabble rabble about higher game prices, and I'm 99.9% sure I would have if the games would have gone up in price.)
Not backwards compatible. Can't play 360 games on the XB1, and vice versa.
XB1 has much better hardware, and a blu ray.
From a gamer's standpoint: Yes, it's worth it. I can't speak from a parent standpoint
I am not a gamer so please excuse my ignorance.
My wife and I want to buy our 3 & 5 year olds a Wii. Someone we know said they stopped making Wii games. Is this true? We don't want to buy a console and not have any games to play.

I don't think that is true, but not positive. If not true we might be selling our Wii and such as our kids are older and want a PS.

From the sounds of it, XBox1 is also going to be more or less an all-in-one entertainment center. You can hook it up directly through your cable system and voice-activate it to tell it to change the channel, and virtually control the TV via XBox.
As was stated earlier, you won't be able to play 360 games on XBox1. All Xbox1 consoles come with the Kinect, so there will probably quite a few game designers that will create games that can be integrated with that. It has a waaaaaaaaaaay more powerful processor and a ton more internal memory.
It was also designed to last for 10 years while being on/operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. So the overheating issue (red ring of death) that plagued so many XBox360s throughout the years should be taken care of. It is also supposed to operate a lot quieter than the 360, which would be a big bonus for people planning to use it for BluRay etc.
Obviously there is going to be a significant upgrade in graphics for the majority of games too. However, they are supposedly going to keep making games for the 360 for another 2-3 years if that makes much difference.
I was at the mall last night. The Microsoft store had a line stretching to camp snoopy. I will be waiting to purchase the X1 because I'm not too impressed with the launch titles.

I would wait until more reviews come out before purchasing. Xbox 1 is experiencing disk drive issues and PS4 is having hdmi port issues. It's a small percentage but still a hassle. Plus both systems don't really have impressive games tha have come out yet. The xbox is more expensive than the PS4 because it requires a camera in order to operate. If his friends are on xbox, I'd stick with that system however.
It's better to wait until the first of the year IMO. I will be getting a PS4 come mid January, only because I don't want to pay an extra 100$ for a stupid camera. Both systems are massive upgrades from their previous versions.
I'm waiting to see if any major hardware or software issues are sussed out in the first quarter or two.
Also, is it just me or is it bad business for these companies not to be backward compatible? Look at iTunes, once you're in iTunes with all the apps, you're financially invested in the hardware and future versions.

These are the same guys that almost required an internet connection to make it so you couldn't sell or lend games.

Nah. Nobody is buying a next gen console to play current gen games on it.
Disagree. I would be out buying a PS4 in a heartbeat if it was backwards compatible. I'd love to be able to play my old PS2 games still. I know a lot of people that are are the same way. Because as soon as a system does? The games are worthless.
If be far more apt to buy more games if I knew I could play them in the next generation of consoles. It's one of the big reasons I only buy a game or two a year instead of five, six, or more.

Not being critical of you, I just don't really understand that. The tipping point for you on whether or not to get a next gen console is because you can't play decade old games on it?
Do you not have a PS2 anymore to play those games or something?
Well, if all you play are sports games and FPS, then yes, it doesn't make sense. But for RPG fans and platformer fans, those games are important.
The greatest games ever released haven't been on consoles for over a decade.

For RPG fans, I suppose. GTA V is my GOAT.
Top 25 without thinking. Probably closer to top ten with more thought.
Mario 64
Goldeneye
Zelda ocarina of time
Earthbound
Final fantasy 8
Final fantasy 10
Red dead redemption
Chrono trigger
Chrono cross
So I'd have to think about the others.
Got Assasin's Creed 4 today, I played it for a couple hours earlier, pretty fun so far! I love the AC series, and the island environments in this game are very cool!
Also am currently downloading Football Manager 14, it's half off on Steam today! I'm looking forward to FM actually running well on my new computer, the old one was pretty sketchy performance wise
I feel like such a dweeb trying to use the PS3. I had a PS and original XBOX, but I swear as I get older I wish I could play these games with a keyboard a la Counter Strike back in the day. Thankfully the PS3 was bought 95% for the kids anyway as they seem to have zero problem making the damn thing work.

Looks like Doc Emrick and the NBC crew are the new commentators. The commentating needed some refreshment.
Based on some of the features listed it looks like they are finally upgrading the AI.
Thank God, I hope that means updated presentation as well. I assume this will be a next gen release, which hopefully means a reboot for a franchise that has become terribly stale, IMO.
Last year I skipped NHL 14. First time since '06 I didn't buy the new NHL game. Hopefully I'll be impressed with two years of updating when I buy 15.

I cut back on NHL so I could get both FIFA games released this year
It's good to hear that 14 was good though, hopefully I'll be blown away when I buy NHL 15, with two dev cycles worth of changes to take in!
Now that the BTHC has happened, when will we finally get our NCAA Hockey Video Game?!?!?!
Seriously though, that's probably the only way I'll buy a new hockey video game.

In that case, I think it's safe to say you've already purchased your last hockey game
I don't even think I'd buy a college hockey game. Even if it did miraculously get made, it would almost certainly be a pile of crap.

If NCAA football couldn't make it, I have a better chance of finding Kate Upton and Jennifer Lawrence in my bedroom when I get home tonight than an NCAA hockey game ever being made.
Watch Dogs looks awesome. Thinking about picking it up this week.
I love open world games, and Chicago would be a fun location.

It kinda looks like a video game version of the TV show Person of Interest. :dup:
I hate how little self control I have with video games. Probably gonna go buy Watch Dogs at lunch

I was right!
The reviews didn't seem that great. What console do you use?
360.
The reviews I read seemed generally very positive. Although I got more of a "solid, not great" vibe when reading most of them.
But, I love open world games, and the thought wreaking havoc with traffic lights and other things by hacking them just seemed too damn fun to pass up
So are you a big Saints Row fan?
Never played Saints Row. It's kind of a more "arcade-y" GTA, right?

EA Sports NCAA Football did very well, but ran into a huge pile of lawsuits, chief among them the O'Bannon antitrust suit. I don't think EA Sports has officially stated that was the reason they discontinued the franchise, but I think it's a safe bet they didn't feel the need to continue with all of the legal issues. In any case, the NCAA contract with them ends in June of this year, so that hockey game will never be released.

Kind of. It's just over the top madness. I think the best way to describe it is GTA on acid and marijuana.
