I'm with you on this one.
New Xbox gets revealed on the 21st. Should be interesting to see what Microsoft brings to the table.
You guys ever watch the TV shows on GTA IV? I just about died of laughter the first time I watch the one below and the history of Liberty City.
[youtube:1u79o2vr]
Watching TV in GTA IV was hilarious; so many hilarious TV shows and commercials Along with going to the comedy club to watch a Katt Williams or Ricky Gervais performance. Those were good, too.
I have heard in GTA V it looks like they'll be ripping on Scientology.
This is a pretty funny parody site they put up: The Epsilon Program
I'm assuming this will be in the game somehow. Here's a page from that site:
1. The world is 157 years old - FACT!
2. Dinosaurs are a lie that people believe because they are weak - FACT!
3. You are happy, you just don’t know it - FACT!
4. We all come from the same tree - FACT!
5. Everyone is related to everyone else, except for people with red hair - FACT!
6. Sperm does not exist - it is a lie spread by biology teachers - along with everything else you have ever been told - FACT!
7. Men are supposed to lie with nine new partners a week. Women are supposed to lie with six, except for in July, when they must lie with five men a day - FACT!
8. Aliens exist and are present on earth. If you have a birth mark, you may be descended from Kraff, the famous Emperor of the 4th Paradigm - FACT!
9. Trees talk, but only some people hear them - FACT!
10. People who believe in something live much longer than atheists, and they have eternal life thrown in for good measure - FACT!
11. If you believe this and turn your hands and wallet over to EPSILONISM, you’ll live a happy life. Otherwise you are doomed - FACT!
12. KIFFLOM - HAPPINESS IS YOURS! KIFFLOM!
Pretty solid reveal by Microsoft today. The new console will be called the XBOX One.
Watched the highlights earlier today. It will be able to seamlessly transition between TV and the Xbox, just as fast as if you were changing channels on your TV. Console is big, kinda bulky. I like that the controller is pretty much the same. Looked a tad bigger.
Was hoping for more game info, but I kinda expected to have to wait for E3 to see any of that. The graphics from the game videos they showed were amazing. I'm sure they were all pre-rendered and stuff like that; but still, if the actual gameplay looks half that good it will still be amazing.

COD's going to have to make wholesale changes to their engine to get me to play again. I've just become so bored with COD. Pretty much ever since we put DAYS into MW2.
I got sick of COD after they started releasing damn near the same exact game under a different name every year.
A little disappointed they didn't show ACTUAL gameplay like they did for Battlefield 4, too. Seems they basically just showed cut scenes.
REALLY pumped for 32 vs 32 in Battlefield 4 multiplayer on XboxOne :good2: That's going to be insane

Someone on Twitter called Reckz0r claims to have hacked Xbox Live, exposing the data of 47 million customers. Many people believe that this is fake, mainly because he claimed that Microsoft had all the data in plaintext format, which I highly doubt (ESPECIALLY after the PSN snafu last summer). People online have downloaded his file and say that it doesn't seem legit. I looked at the stuff he put on pastebin, and the emails and pws did seem randomly generated.
But still, probably not a bad idea to use this as an excuse to change the ol' Xbox Live password.
Anyone ever played OOTP (Out of the Park) or Football Manager?
Thinking about getting one of them. Both are very in depth and realistic sims of baseball and soccer, respectively. OOTP is all text based, and Football Manager has a 3D sim engine. Both seem to be top of the line in realism and depth. Baseball and soccer are probably the two sports where I would be interested in this type of game. Both games are $40
I think I'm leaning towards OOTP because I think it would be super fun to be able to manage your farm system and try to build up a great feeder system for the big league squad.
Just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with either game.

New trailer for NHL 14 features the new enforcer engine. Can't wait to goon it up online.
Fighting is about the last thing the NHL 14 devs should be focusing on.
However, that said, it looks fantastic. There's actually players on the ice besides the two who are fighting, and the AI controlled players appear to react naturally. And I do like how fights can seemingly happen organically based on what is happening on the ice.
I hope they integrate this into the GM mode. If I injure an opposing team's player with a CFB, their enforcer should be picking a fight with me the next time we play.

This game looks awesome, and it's only $20. Exactly the type of zombie game I've been waiting for, one that actually stresses survival and strategy. Imagine if this was a full game with a full budget. Damn, it would be awesome.
This game still looks really fun, I'll probably download it soon. Reading online, people seem to be really enjoying it.

ugh...
Fighting serves its purpose in all in the real NHL but it's not something this game should focus it's energy on.
So based on what I have gathered so far, XBox One wants me to be connected online 24/7, wants to Kinect to always be listening to me, wants me to run all my devices (direcTV and such) through the XBox, wants to make sure I cannot play used games or loan them to friends who I am not "online firends" with for less than 30 days...
I dont play games online, period. No interest. I am only connected online so I can get the game/roster/system updates. I cannot afford to spend $60 on games so I wait to buy them used for $25, $30 a few months after they come out. Or borrow from a friend first to see if I even want to buy it. I hate motion based games, I just want to sit on my couch with a controller and a beer and play some games.
Anyone care to tell me why I would want to buy this system at all???? Not to mention it being $100 more than PS4. I dont plan on buying either system until a year or 2 down the road when they drop in price, but what on earth on the selling points FOR the XBox One? Neither one is backwards compatible so it doesnt matter which system I had previously.
I haven't done much research on either system yet because I won't be in the market for a new console for at least a year, and I just don't have the energy to weed through all the flame wars on every site.
But I do not like what I'm hearing about the XB1. Which is a real shame because I really prefer XBox Live over PSN, and I like xbox controllers 100000x better than ps3 controller
From listening to Video Games Weekly on KFAN (Paul Charchian and some guy from Game Informer Weekly are the hosts), the XBox One is going to be a pretty sweet system.
The Kinect isn't going to be necessary for game play (you can still sit down and drink beer while playing :dup: ). The Kinect will be able to, however, use voice commands if you want and sounds like it's a significant upgrade over the current one for those who are using it to play games (they upped the photon-outage and sensitivity so it's significantly better at reading movements).
They were talking this week about the price point. They both agreed that since XBox went first in their demo and set their price, Sony/PS4 deliberately undercut the price as a selling point because Sony is in such a massive struggle overall with their money.
One other interesting aspect that the XBox One has that PS4 doesn't is an HDMI input/output. It's possible to connect your cable/satellite through your XBox and use your voice to change channels, record shows, etc. and even connect your PS4 to your XBox and run your PS4 through your XBox
One thing PS4 used to have as a selling point was free online play. That will no longer be true.
It seems like Xbox is becoming more of an entertainment system that also plays games. PS4 may not have some of the bells and whistles but there is a little more under the hood than xbox one. They both have the same amount of Memory (RAM), 8GBs but PS4 is DDR5 and Xbox is DDR3, which isn't nearly as fast. Also, the XBOX has a lot of stuff running in the background which will be using 3GBs of RAM with only 5GBs dedicated for gaming. Don't take this the wrong way, both systems will be much more powerful than their predecessor but PS4 seems to be more gamer friendly.
As far as used games go, Xbox games will be tied to your account and you can only sell them if it is someone from your friends list for at least 30 days or an approved vendor. Sony has stated that you will be able to sell and trade games like in the past with no restrictions. However, if there is enough pressure from game developers, I could see Sony moving away from this claim.
Sony and Microsoft will both require a fee for online content, should be about 50$ a year for both.
If you want a system that can seamlessly control most of you multimedia and can play games as well, xbox one will be perfect for you. If you'd rather have a system that is more dedicated for games than PS4 is for you. Since both systems haven't even hit the market yet, its probably wise to wait and see how things play out before you can say one system is better than the other but right now it seems like PS4 has a slight edge IMO.
Sony smoked Microsoft this week. The One now has zero momentum. If it flops, developers will focus on the PS4. MSFT is in trouble with this one, and I think it's safe to say they have people scrambling morning to night at the moment trying to figure out options.
I think Microsoft has more than enough of the market share to ensure that the XB1 will not flop. They have like 18 exclusives lined up for the XB1, 8 or 9 of them are completely new game series. (Don't quote me on the numbers, but I think I'm close).
I always think of it as the 25% of fanboys on either end who will buy any console that has a Microsoft/Sony sticker on it, and the 50% in the middle who are rational and weigh their options. Although I do think Sony is winning with that 50%.
And then there's that guy that bought the Wii U.
This article has a pretty good breakdown of the new releases.

Battlefield 4 multiplayer has me awestruck
BF4 next gen is gonna be siiiick.
Yeah, the Wii U is going to kill Nintendo as a hardware company. It's been one of the biggest flops since what? Dreamcast? Saturn? We all know what happened to Sega after that debacle...
XB1 will do fine, but it's a PR nightmare for Microsoft. They banked on Sony going nuclear on their customers and shockingly, they were wrong.
Dreamcast wasn't really a flop, Sega just didn't really have the resources to continue it. It actually did well at launch.

I knew one with a Saturn. Of course, he also had the Sega CD, too.

I had a couple friends with Dreamcast. I liked that system.
Oh my... I was watching the AC4 trailer on TV and I was trying to identify the actors (before I saw the outline of the main character) and figure out which movie trailer it was from.
Then I realized it was a video game. That's how good that game looks.

I don't like super-involved games, but I'm so tempted on AC....

The issue I have with video game trailers is that it very rarely shows the actual game play. They can make the video scenes during the game look good and the trailer look even better, but it does nothing to show what I will be playing 95% of the time.

Yeah AC trailers have always been CG.
But, AC has always been a visually beautiful game, even in the actual game. I really enjoyed AC3.
Can't wait to play an open world game on a next gen system, though.
I understand its just a trailer, but if the in-game movie sequences are anything like that, it would be sick.
I'm more amazed that I couldn't tell it was CGI at first.
Looks like XBox One is already changing it's tune regarding Always On and used games.

For those that understand this better than me...
So with the new XBox One if we buy a game (say Modern Warfare 8 or whatever) and both my sons want to play it, we buy it twice? Is that what the no households sharing means?

The way I understand it was going to work (up until yesterday) was basically that, once you put/install a copy of the game on to a particular Xbox console, you have to use that console to play that copy of the game and connect to the internet daily to validate the software license; you couldn't use/install that copy of the game on another Xbox, even if you (or your "household") own both of the Xboxi.

Ah, so a single xbox still would give multiple accounts access to play? They have made this confusing enough that it is giving me serious pause before I let the kids upgrade.

No household exemptions? I mean I get why they want a license per console... else you have a 'household' of frat brothers cloning their access permissions. But this is reeeee-diculous if two brothers each in the same household need separate and individual licenses to play.
My understanding is that with the new policy regarding games is going to be the same as it is basically with the XBox 360. You can share the games with friends/family members at no extra cost. There will be no limit on sharing games.
As far as the internet connection: you will be required to be connected to the internet one time in order to get the XBox set up, but after that you don't need to connect to the internet again to play games.
