COD really lost me with all their uber-futuristic weaponry etc that they've been doing (making it too much like Halo). I'm wondering if the MW remastering is worth it? Are people actually playing the multiplayer online?I got super burned out on CoD. We played the HELL out of MW2 in college.
I just got Battlefield 1 and am really enjoying it so far.
Same here. I can't even begin to count the number of nights we stayed up until 3am-4am playing MW, MW2, and MW3.
What's the word on Battlefield? I've never played any of the Battlefield games but it seems very intriguing. How is the gameplay compared to the other main shooters (specifically CoD and Halo)? Obviously BF1 is going to be less techy than Halo because of the era, but my concern is that it's like CoD: World at War which I thought was hideous.

My roommate and I are playing it as I type this
I'm really enjoying it. I've always been a history buff, so I enjoy the World War I setting/guns/etc. I haven't even touched the campaign yet, just the opening tutorial mission. We have been playing the Conquest mode on multiplayer. It's sweet. Compared to CoD, the maps are HUGE, and there are tons of players. I believe in Conquest there are 64 players, 32 a side. It's got planes, tanks, vehicles. It can be utter chaos. But I also like it because you can be tactical; there are 5 objectives to be captured, so if you have a squad of friends you can be pretty clinical in moving about the map taking various objectives.
The gameplay itself is so cool. The best part by far is the destructive environments. Everything in the maps can be destroyed. Somebody sniping you from a clock tower? Just grab a rocket launcher and destroy the clock tower
And graphically, it's just a beautiful game.
Some negatives: sometimes the loading screens take FOREVER. Can take a frustrating amount of time to get into a game. Once you're in, it's fine, though. Also, the system for getting new guns is not intuitive at all. Kind of confusing what you have to do in order to unlock new weapons.
Overall, it's very fun! If you're coming from CoD, there is a bit of a learning curve, though. It just feels more "real" than CoD, which I think makes it a bit harder, but also more rewarding!

I'm on XB1. I know that GFG plays on XB1 as well. (Although I've never played with him. [cc: GFG we should play some time!])
I don't know that there will be any discernible difference on XB1 vs. PS4

That's my preference too - not a huge fan of FPS on Playstation. I just have both of them. The only games I have on PS4 are Destiny, BlackOpsIII, and The Last of Us. All of which came with the system when I won it. I basically picked a PS4 for MLB The Show, since XBox doesn't have a baseball game.
Still playing B4 on PS3 and if it's anything like that in game play I am sure it's excellent. I much prefer it to any of the CoDs we've had although I didn't hate them in the least.
CoD's gameplay generally involves smaller maps, tight corridors, and really fast paced action (I played MW and MW2 nothing beyond that, my opinion is kinda dated). Battlefield the maps are generally bigger as you have vehicles and what not so it's quite a bit different in that sense.

You should do the campaigns! I've never been much of a campaign person, especially with BF games, but they call these "war stories" instead of a campaign and they're fantastic. I really wish there were more. The graphics are much better in the War Stories than they are in multiplayer as well. It's gorgeous

I'm definitely game to play with you! Most of the time I just play by myself and it's usually more fun playing BF with other people.
As for the game itself, it's pretty awesome. It doesn't have near the amount of content of past BF games but that's because they didn't have tons of weapon attachments and stuff in WWI. They're releasing 20 more weapons and new vehicles and stuff with the DLC supposedly. It's the only game I ever consider buying the "Premium" for because I can normally play each installment upwards of 3 years until the next one comes out and I have no problem paying an extra $50 to get 20 more maps, weapons, etc. when it keeps me busy that long.
Like GG13 said, the loading screen is a bit of a nuisance so hopefully they can figure something out to address it even a little bit. I just hit level 81 tonight when I had 48 kills in a plane in one round

I enjoy this description. Most of my time playing CoD was spent with me having a sniper rifle in my hands, or an M16 or whichever single-shot assault rifle was on there (M14 IIRC). The guys who ran around with the marathon/lightweight perks on (where they could run forever and run super fast) and sub machine guns and tactical knives pissed me off.
Welp, screw it, I'm gonna just go ahead and buy it.
That went as perfect as it could have

You will definitely enjoy Battlefield then. The bigger maps and game modes really allow for different styles. You still have the guys that run and run, but it really allows for sniping, for those who want to do it.

Yeah lol if you're downloading it from the cloud, you'll be lucky to be playing by the weekend
So much for testing it out tonight. Still only 50% downloaded. Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

(By "the best", I mean someone who is just starting to consistently get near or above a 1.00 k/d )

I should be on tomorrow night. I've been a huge BF player for 7 years and am nearly always top 3 on my team, many times the top. I'll be glad to help out both of you and give you guys tips. Battlefield games have a huge learning curve compared to all other first person shooter games b/c of the large scale and weapon recoil. BF1 is a bit easier to get the hang of than BF4 b/c they greatly reduced bullet drop and increased bullet speed. I'm sure I can give both of you a lot of pointers. If your friend wants to join that's awesome too, GG13

The War Stories (campaign) are excellent, I highly suggest that you play those and don't just stick to the multiplayer.

With most shooters I usually play the campaign mode before jumping into multi-player. Gives me a chance to get a feel for the various weapons and lets me test out my skills with them.

I really like Operations. It can get crazy if you do 64 players. For quite awhile I've only been a multiplayer guy, especially with BF games, but I can't stress enough how good the war stories are
Was settling in to play some BF1 tonight to kinda get a feel for it after screwing around with it a little while yesterday.
Forgot to charge my controller overnight. S of a B.
Played my first multiplayer BF1 game this morning. 6 kills, 4 deaths. I joined one that was in the middle of the game otherwise it may have been way worse. But I'll settle for a 1.5 K/D ratio in my first game
The roommate got the PlayStation VIrtual Reality for xmas. It's a lot of fun. Obviously the gaming experience is unlike anything I've ever played before. I've only played the starter games so far. Can't wait to try a real RPG or a more complex game.
My goofball 12 year old nephew got a VR headset for Christmas. So he lets me try it out and had the video of a shark attack on the screen. Unbeknown to me he geared up the same video on his sisters phone so that when the shark attacks the cage he grabbed my arm at the perfect moment! I thought I pee'd my pants and screamed so loud. Of course he then practically fell over laughing at tricking his poor old aunt! :censored: little monster
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

Jerk comment, but I laughed out loud!
Anyway, got the kids a Xbox One S for Christmas. It was the Minecraft edition. Figured it would be too obvious if I got one of the additions with a game that was well outside of their ages (8&10). Anyway, picked up NHL 17 for mysel....my son.
Holy hell. The last hockey game I played was on PS2 and I was decent at it. I look like my old man trying to play Ice Hockey on Nintendo with me when I was 12. I am sure they are laughing at me, but I did beat my son this morning.
Anyone have any tips on this game? I don't want it to end up sitting on the shelf because it is too difficult to play. I have Live, but I can't even begin to head online until I am much better. Playing with multiple people seems hard, I tried playing with my kid on the same team and he never passes.
I guess I am not ready to give up after 24 hours.
Watch some of the tutorials on youtube maybe, esp for faceoffs as they are tricky to be sure. You'll want to curl the joy stick when taking wrist shots (way more effective than snap shots unless they're one timers). Not sure what else to point out.

Thanks. Watched a few on EA Sport's page and it helped me almost beat Canada in the World Cup. I was up 3-2 with 7 minutes left in the 3rd and lost 5-3. Better than I have been doing. The game is incredible, especially since the game I have played the most is NHL 94 on Sega and dominated, it is tough to play a game I feel like I am having to learn from scratch.
EDIT: my emotion in the game against Canada was similar to that of any World Cup/WJC game I have watched between US/Can....damn video game.

Yeah the newer editions of NHL have been much more realistic. Puck control is harder, defensive breakdowns get punished, turnovers get punished.

Dude named baconcountry on YouTube has some good tutorials/advice for each segment of the game too if you want to get a leg up on the competition. Faceoffs were the hardest thing for me though I literally lost every one for years because I didn't know how to do them

I'm generally terrible against the computer in faceoffs (30-35% at best) but when playing online I usually win 65-70%. I dunno what it is.
I'm up to a level 4 now on Battlefield.
I'm yet to play any game other than Deathmatch but so far my K/D is still over 1.00
I just wish I knew how to unlock new/better weapons.
Seriously how do I get better weapons than the OG starting guns on this freaking game?

When you level up you get war bonds. You can use those to buy weapons. Some of the weapons require you to reach a certain level with the specific class before you can buy them. I would play conquest if you want to level up faster.
On a side note, sorry I didn't join you the other night! I was playing with a few friends already!

Yeah I decided to try out conquest today for a while after playing nothing but Deathmatch previously.
Holy :censored: its madness.

Try 64 player operations. Same amount of people on each team with only 2 objectives at a time. A lot of dying
Will MN United FC be in the new FIFA game? If so, I may need to upgrade my console in order to be able to play!

I would think they have to be if they're gonna be a team next year. FIFA always has the MLS teams.

Yep, they will be in FIFA 18!

TCF Bank Stadium graces its third different EA franchise
Edit: Check that, I forgot that FIFA doesn't put MLS stadiums in the game other than Seattle and Vancouver
So my roommate bought a PS4, he's getting The Show when it comes out.
In the meantime I bought Horizon: Zero Dawn. I'm only a couple hours in but I'm loving it so far. Graphically, it's gorgeous, really impressive. The combat system is really fun, I've only encountered 4 different types of machines, but it's so fun to identify their weaknesses and see how it affects them when those weaknesses are exploited.
The story is intriguing so far, as well.
Hi my name is Dave and I may have a Titanfall 2 problem. I realize I should play other FPS games but I love to play TF2. I have leveled out as a Pilot so now I am just trying to level up each weapon using different tacticals for the challenge of it.
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!

I preordered The Show on Monday. I may have to check out Horizon too. It looks pretty cool.

It's really cool. I'm already excited to go home and play it some more
But I'm really excited for The Show to come out. I have played a baseball video game since MLB 2K10 on the 360, so I'm thinking I'll be blown away the The Show!

Yeah my last baseball game was MLB 2k13 on Xbox 360, which was basically a turd covered in burnt hair. I played it for like 4 hours and the graphics sucked, the gameplay sucked... And then Xbox stopped making baseball games.
