I still haven't bought Fallout 4. To be honest I might end up passing on it. Battlefield 5 comes out this year and I don't think I'd have enough time to fully enjoy Fallout before it does since I don't play a ton.
Any of you guys wanna come over sometime and play Tecmo Bowl?
I have an Atari and original Nintendo in a box somewhere. I've threatened several times to dig them out but have no clue how they will work with a modern television. Is there any special adapters needed? And how does the picture quality come out on an HD tv?

The picture quality likely won't be great. It shouldn't be much, if any, worse, but it won't be HD. I used to play N64 on an HDTV all the time and the graphics were pretty similar to how they were in an SD TV.
As for the adapter, I'm sure you'll need one but I have no idea which one.
Go to any video game store like Gamestop and I imagine they can tell you what you need. Then check around online to see if it's worth the price to buy from Amazon, etc.

It will look pretty bad, to be honest. Even old Playstation games (through my PS3) on my HD are incredibly blocky. The graphics on those old systems were actually much lower resolution than most TVs at the time were capable of, so scaling that up, it gets that much worse.
As to connections, I suspect that either of them will have a connection option that will be a Red/White/Yellow three-plug cable. Pretty much any current TV will have at least one set of inputs for this (Red is right-audio, White is left ,Yellow is video).
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
NES has a coax and I believe S-Video
SNES had coax or composite
PS1-PS2 had composite (PS2 might have had component)
Nintendo has the AV plug in where you just need the red and white cords I believe. I hooked up my Nintendo to my HD tv a few years ago. Thought I needed an adapter, but the game stop guy told me the cables work better than anything. I didn't know it had those plug ins until he showed me. It's on the right side. It doesn't look great by any means, but it's still playable. I think that the TVs are just bigger now so the blocks are more defined.
Other thing you can do is manually add the analog channel 3, that got my NES working no problem. Once you start playing the games you won't notice the quality, still a blast.
My friend texted me this

Apparently FIFA 16 on the XB1 (with Kinect) picks up if you curse a lot while playing the game, and the board of the club you manage will tell you to tone it down
Better than NBA games. You get an immediate technical foul if you swear

I'd love to be a dev in some of these games just placing random shit like that all over the place
Man, if games started penalizing me for swearing while I'm playing them, I'd probably set the game on fire.
I'm glad they didn't have that when I was playing Halo or Call of Duty at college.
I would have been banned from the game.
So much cursing.

You actually get a foul in the game? HahaA cheeky message from the Board in FIFA is one thing, but when it actually effects you in a game, I bet that pisses a lot of people off
On the other hand, it would eventually result in some far more creative ways to curse so you're not penalized.
Gah, hijo de puta!
Looks like No Man's Sky will be out June 21st for PC and PS4...Sorry XBOX
Here is a link to an article with a cool trailer from E3.

NMS is damn near a complete failure of PR and broken promises.
With how badly this release has been handled over the last year, I'm not getting it until the reviews come in.
Also, it was never planned for Xbox. In fact, it was originally only a PS4 game until their studio or Sony pressured them into releasing it on PC as well.
I'm just patiently waiting for them to announce Battlefield 5. It's being released in 7 months so there should be an announcement some time. One rumor has it as near future warfare and another rumor has it as WWI warfare. Pretty much exact opposites
I'm extremely interested to see what they can do with this one since it's not being limited by the last gen consoles

I really hope they go the WWI route. We have had plenty of WWII games and future warfare. Battlefield isn't as face paced as other shooters like Call of Duty, so I think they would make a great WWI game.

WWI could be very interesting. It would be the first major WWI/WWII game on the new consoles as well. Although quite some time ago one of the developers said there would be just as much if not more customization in the new one and I just don't see how you can do that with WWI. That's why I'm suspecting, at least this time, that it's going to be in the near future.
WWI isn't terribly conducive to a video game. Lots of trench warfare, no real advance air combat and what little there was tended to be slow and fairly simple, the weapons were fairly uniform with the big MGs coming near the end, and the naval battles tended to be very primitive. It would look a lot like battlefield 1942 with even less advanced tech.
Maybe not though. There were plenty of intense and interesting battles.

Please. I can already see myself stabbing my teammate to death to take his gas mask as clouds of mustard gas roll into my trench. Exhilarating! :biggrin2:
Was it the eastern or western front that was mostly trench warfare? I know whichever front wasn't the major trench battles had some big battles.
Edit:
One can only hope we get Battlefield 1776 next. Imagine the clusterf**k of trying to get an entire lobby lined up to march straight into musket and cannon fire
My sons want to get the XBOX One. I'm seeing there are a couple of bundle options at Target (and Best Buy) for the 1TB console - Tom Clancy's Division and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. Which one would people recommend?
I love rainbow six but I'm weird. Don't listen to me.

Division is the one that just came out. I've talked to two different people who have played it and they both love it so far. Apparently it's a beautiful game, visually.
Most mobile games on phones, especially the free ones are based on micro transactions which takes away a lot of the fun. A little while back I decided to install a SNES and Game Boy Color emulator on my phone. It was a great choice. Takes a little bit to get used to the controls, but after awhile its pretty easy. Games like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy work the best. I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed playing those systems back in the day or maybe as a way to introduce it to a younger generation.
God Damnit, Football Manager...
So I boot up the game before a few friends come over for the Wild game, just to get a couple games in, and I see this:

Now, for those of you who don't know, AFC Wimbledon is a League 2 team, in the 4th tier of the English soccer pyramid (think the equivalent of single A minor league baseball). I'm sitting there reading that thinking: "What the hell..... Did I get taken over by a rich foreign tycoon?!" (which can happen in the game). It's running through my head all the players I can buy, the new stadium I could build, and then I hit Accept...
[hide:1kus3a71][/hide:1kus3a71]
Well played, SI
^^^that's pretty good right there

When I had a jail broken phone, you can be damn sure I always had Earthbound on it.

Never played Earthbound...I think I'll put it on my phone and give it a shot.
It's my favorite game of all time. Might be rowshkex's as well.
Just remember, it's a goofy game with a lot of quirks. Very, very endearing with an incredible soundtrack. IMHO, only Chrono Cross has a better soundtrack*. I am not entirely sure I'd consider it the best game of all time if I were introduced to it as an adult. Maybe. But growing up I was introduced to it at the perfect time.
* - Chrono Cross' soundtrack is one of the best of all time. Movie or game. As super-nerdy as this sounds, I still listen to it on my playlist today.
JFC. Take two of my money. RDR is one of the greatest games ever released.
This is one of only a handful of games I'd pay release date prices (or more) for.
The only other I can name outright is a true Earthbound sequel. I'd buy an entire Wii Whatever system just to play that game.
I enjoyed RDR but could never get myself to finish it. I think I had just made it into Mexico last time I played. Still have it, maybe I'll give it another go. Not as into video games anymore.
For those of you that haven't seen the reveal video for Battlefield 1...

It takes place in WWI and looks amazing. People who have seen the gameplay said the graphics were nearly identical to what you see in this trailer.

Interesting to see the hate that COD is receiving. They've been such a power for so long. Maybe just a victim of the internet hate train?

I think a lot of the fans of CoD (myself being one of them) are really sick and tired of CoD being entirely futuristic. I haven't even played the last 3-4 releases. I used to play them all, and spent an almost embarrassing amount of time playing MW, MW2, and MW3. I enjoyed Ghosts but once they started putting jet packs on people and that kind of crap I just got so bored by it. If I wanted to play super futuristic games I'd play Halo (and I do).
CoD would do better to go back to their roots with more contemporary weapons, etc. Which is why their new release is also coming with a remastered version of Modern Warfare, which will no doubt be played 10x more than Infinite Warfare.

I completely agree. I've never really been a fan of the futuristic stuff and I was a little worried Battlefield was heading in the same direction after the last DLC of BF4. I'm glad they didn't do that.
There's rumors that DICE LA is working on Battlefield: Bad Company 3 to be released next year, too, which would give them both a WWI and near modern shooter. That would be awesome.

My personal opinion is that the campaign mode is not good, Black Ops III is horrible. I think a lot of people want a good campaign before jumping into the multiplayer. I am glad I just rented the last couple CoD versions. DICE does a great job with the campaigns their lone exception was the Star Wars Battlefront which the campaign mode doesn't exist except for some training battles which I am super bummed about but dealt with it because I love the Star Wars Universe so much.
Damn! Witches 3 just dropped an absolute bomb of an update! I've never seen anything like it this far after a game has been released.
I know the new expansion pack was released today but this update is fantastic.
This isn't really for me, but this is a pretty cool advancement in augmented reality video games:
Battlefield 1 gameplay trailer was released. They followed with an hour stream of live multiplayer gameplay.
Here's some of that Gameplay footage:

I had strongly considered it due solely to the fact that MLB The Show is a PlayStation game. But that would be the only game I'd play on PlayStation. I haven't been a huge fan of PS2/PS3 in my experiences playing it. Plus virtually all of my "gamer" friends are XBox guys so Halo, CoD, Fallout4 etc. would be much less fun (or nonexistent in Halo's case) on PlayStation. Maybe if I win the lottery I'll get a second TV and a PS4
Destiny?
nm. I misinterpreted that.
Who else is playing Pokemon Go?
I had softball tonight in SLP. No less than 20 people were walking around the park with their phones turning in all sorts of directions and stopping on a dime to catch a pokemon. I asked a few what they were catching and they were very quick to answer. A couple of teenagers even helped me catch a Charmander after my game.
