PES 16 got a 9.0 from Game Informer and NHL got a 7.75. NHL was almost unplayable on PS4 last year for a multitude of reasons, and most accounts say that it has bounced back nicely. The biggest issues seem to be with online modes and other game modes like "Be a Pro". Still I'm not confident to go out and buy it just yet.
I really thought this year that PES played better than Fifa as far as the demo goes. I'm going to wait until Fifa comes out next week, but I think PES 16 will be my purchase over Fifa or NHL. The player movements in PES just feel so much more fluid than Fifa does. The realism regarding the Premier license and stadiums for Fifa is my only hesitation for buying Fifa instead of PES. If you are more of a fan of the UEFA champions league, then I would say PES is the better option.
Caved and bought NHL 16 today. Can't go two years without a hockey game.
Definitely going to pick up FIFA next week, as well. I will say that PES has some positives. It seems more fluid, like you said, but I think FIFA is getting better, in that regard.
And at this point, I'm just so ingrained into FIFA that I don't think I could switch to PES. All the licenses that FIFA has (EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga, and on and on and on) put it over the top for me.

That is one of the only reasons I've held off so far. I know I'd play my 360 a lot since I have NCAA.
I would basically just get Madden to replace my football playing itch on the XB1.
You'll be able to play almost every 360 game made (that you own, obviously) on XB1 soon.
The update to allow all users to do this with most of the games is supposed to be going live this fall, so sometime soon.

Bought PES 16 yesterday without doing enough research. Since PES lacks licensing for the Premiere league, people in the community would often make edits to teams so you could have real kits and badges and so on. All you had to do in years past was download a master file and you would get all of the edits. This worked great and the work that was done looked very authentic. However, this year you can't use other peoples master file. Luckily we are able to import images and konami has a team editor that is easy to use, but it's going to take time to edit all teams. From what I've read Xbox doesn't seem to have the same editor. So if you own an xbox, DONT buy PES 16.
I'm very interested to see how Fifa does in reviews. The gameplay really improved last year and this year it appears they spent a good amount of time adding stadiums and women's teams, improving FUT and improving other graphic enhancements like their new weather system. I could be wrong, but players in Fifa will actually get dirty throughout the game, PES doesn't do that.
Even though Fifa is more polished game in terms of licensing and graphics, PES has just nailed the gameplay. It's hard to explain, but after playing PES, Fifa players kinda feel like they are on skates. Regardless of their differences, both games are fun to play and might end up being to two highest rated sports games.
Have you played the FIFA 16 demo? I feel like the players in FIFA this year have much more weight. The momentum seems better, the stopping/starting, and changing direction seems more realistic.

Yeah, I played it quite a bit. The momentum does seem slightly improved as well as the collision system. It's tough to explain and its probably just my personal preference of gameplay, but I just like how PES flows. For example, slide tackling in PES. I feel like I can control the slide tackle, but in FIFA its a very risky move and even when you think you've got it lined up, the player seems to stop and then tackle so you end up behind the player, causing a foul. PES uses your momentum and the tackler gets out front better. I've tried PES the past few years on Ps4 and Ps3 and I never really enjoyed how it played. People raved about the AI, but I always thought Fifa had better overall gameplay. I'm curious to see how I feel about Fifa after playing PES for a few months.
I think the only major issue I have is the lack of fouls in both games. Set pieces are a ton of fun, but you don't get that many chances in either game. Last year FIFA didn't have a penalty slider and I know that PES doesn't this year.

Yeah, I paid the PES demo, and I know every you mean about the flow. The animations and movements in PES are very, very fluid
This is my most successful FM save ever
Quite congested at the top, 3 teams tied at 79 points. I only won the league on goal difference
Won League 2 in my first season with Oxford. Finished 11th in League 1 in year 2. And now, in year 3, just won the league to move up to the Championship! :dup:
I've been mainly relying on free transfer castoffs from big English teams. But now that I'm in the Championship, I'm really going to look at scouting some young guys with really high potential. And then I can look forward to the EPL teams poaching my roster every year. My star keeper already has come to me saying he has higher ambitions and wants to leave this offseason. 😡
edit: holy schnikes, the money really rolls in when you get promoted. My sponsorships (jersey sponsor, ground sponsor, etc) more than doubled, up to $2.7m!
So it took me about a week of playing PES to realize that the license issue is bigger than I first thought. I knew that the Premier league had some license issues, but the fixes for that were pretty easy. However, you basically have to create the Bundesliga from scratch, along with many of the players in the league. The Russian league is also no existent, except for a couple teams.
While Fifa's gameplay isn't quite as good as PES, it's still great. Looks like ill be trading in PES tomorrow for FIFA and taking a little hit on the trade in.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/09/22/fifa-soccer-16-review/blockquote >I didn't find this guy's review to be very helpful. He attacks Fifa for being a slower game and more difficult, which I believe is a good thing, since a lot of years it was just an up and down track meet. From most accounts, this years game pushes you towards being more tactical and building up attack which to me is an improvement. One thing Fifa has on its side is sliders to adjust things like pass accuracy, shot accuracy, game speed, etc. The only thing you can adjust on PES is game speed. PES also really lacks in fouls, which limits set pieces that are essential to the game. In about a week of playing PES, I've had about 2 free kicks and zero penalties. I don't think Ive seen the cpu take a single free kick. Konami is not known for their post release support, so who knows if the game will see a patch or how frequent roster updates will be.
I played a few games with a friend of mine on xbox (xbox gamers got a "free" trial if you have EA access) and I still feel that PES has slightly better gameplay. Yet, fifa's gameplay is still really good. EPL is the league I pay attention to the most, followed by the Bundesliga. I had to edit all the team names and import images into EPL in order to have the real kits show up in PES. That took about four hours and that was just for one league and just to update kits and team names.
If your a big fan of the EPL or Bundesliga, avoid PES. There are also no MLS teams in PES and if you wanted to bring Altidore or Dempsey back to the EPL, you can't because they don't exist in the game.
The lack of fouls in PES and support for my favorite soccer leagues has caused me to change course and go back to Fifa.
Matthew Kato from Game Informer gave PES a 9 and Fifa an 8.75.

He calls FIFA too slow? At that point I would immediately stop reading the review.
Because that probably means he's a "sprint up the wings with Ronaldo and Bale, and fire crosses in" type player. And the fact that he dislikes the game would be a major positive for me!
After almost a year off, I finally picked back up where I left off on GTA V on the PS4.
Trevor is such an incredible character. "If I get bored, I'll have you jack me off." Pauses, turns around and says, "nah, just kidding... I'll have you suck me off."
The voice acting and the writing is as good as it gets. The animation puts it over the top.
Playing FIFA 16 with these sliders
Legendary / slow gameplay
Sprint 48/48
Acceleration 50/50
Shot Error 54/54
Pass Error 60/60
Shot Speed 48/48
Pass Speed 42/42
GK Ability 42/42
Marking 55/55
Run Freq. 5/5
Height 48/48
Length 52/52
Width 48/48
Fullbacks 60/60
First Touch 85/85
It's FANTASTIC. The first touch error being up at 85 really loosens up the ball (gives it more of that PES feel) and run frequency set at 5 really slows the game down to a more realistic level. I've only played one game, and multiple times I actually saw the CPU stop with the ball (completely STOPPED) to survey the field for a second before picking out a pass. Brilliant.
How have I never heard of No Man's Sky before today?
That game sounds incredible. I'm hoping some of the rumors I've read are true and that it's going to get a release day (or even be released) this month.
Ugh. We're going to have to wait until June for No Man's Sky. Boo that call.
I mean, I'm thrilled they are taking the time to get it right, but shit man, the media storm they've had the last two months has been crazy for a game that's coming out almost a year later.

November is a huge release month for video games and June is a time when very few games come out. Since this is a PS4 exclusive for consoles (its on PC), I'm sure Sony was hoping that it would come out for the holidays. They will have very little competition to go up against when it is released in June. I have only read a few articles about the game, but the hype is unbelievable, especially for an indie game. I'll definitely give it a shot when it comes out.
Dang it's PS4/PC only?
It looks really interesting.

I'm not sure they're avoiding November for competition. THere's no reason to avoid it. People who want the game will find a way to buy it. Just seems bit vague too. All they said was June 2016. Which, the way this thing has been run, is going to be December 2016. *shrug*

Yeah, I first heard about it when they started the media blitz that was highlighted by an appearance on the Colbert show. I'm a bit stunned that they would go to an audience like that and announce almost a month after the appearance a release another eight months later. Seems like a Mickey Mouse operation over there at Sony.
But yes, it looks really interesting. I'm a bit scared that this is going to be a game I tire of quickly.

I actually just skimned an article an hour or so ago here at work about the guys who are making the game. A small indie studio out of the UK. Apparently 4 people made the game over a course of a year or so in almost complete secrecy, and have since brought the rest of their studio in on it to complete it.
Speaking of video games, Football Manager 16 releases in a couple weeks. I skipped 15, so I'll practically be foaming at the mouth to get my hands on 16.
Halo 5 came out today. This game would go a long way toward pushing me to an XBox1. I was totally let down by the last two main Halo franchise releases (3 and 4) after the perfection of Halo 2.
Anybody plan on picking it up?
I thought about it, but honestly I've never been much of a fan of Halo. Plus they just released a new Battlefield 4 map yesterday and have a couple more new maps coming in a month or two. Literally the only game I've really played since it came out, with a little GTA V thrown in there
Talked with my cube neighbor today about NCAA, our dynasties, and recruiting strategies. Now I REALLY want to play NCAA again

I've heard framerate dips a bit on both xb1 and ps4 when moving from one environment to another, but it seems to be pretty minor. Yeah, the framerate dips at certain points, but it doesn't impact the game for me. Graphics are good, but you don't play Bethesda games for the graphics.
There is so much you can do within the game that it can be overwhelming, but it's still alot of fun.
