Why would someone design a car with the fuel fill door on the passenger side of the car? I think it should qualify you as a failed engineer.

We have both in our fleet at home and I actually prefer passenger side. Then you don't have to open your driver door right into all the gas pump stuff.

I always thought that it was for if you needed to fill up on the side of the road. You are away from the traffic on the passenger side. Might have made that up though haha
I like the passenger side too. Because there are less of them you can usually access an open pump more easily when a station is busy.
This of course only applies when I know or remember the door is on that side. If I don’t then I am pissed. 😂
I always figured with companies like Subaru it was because it was designed for Japan and the opposite side of the road but obviously Toyota and Honda don’t follow that anymore?? Maybe they did before a ton of design and production took place in North America. Maybe some of the boomers can recall if the original Hondas in the 70s had fuel filler caps on the passenger side.

There is probably CCTV video of me at a gas station in Ireland trying to get the damn car on the correct side of the pump. Our rental filled from the passenger side but since I was driving on the right side of the car I could not wrap my head around what I needed to do and after some impressive jockeying and maneuvering still ended up on the wrong side of the pump bank at least twice.

I looked into a little, and the answer is…
There’s no hard and fast rule across the different automakers. Surprise!
VW and BMW say they do right side for the safety reason above. Honda and Toyota cite the same reason for their placement. (which is what places them on the left)
Of course with any of the companies you’ll find cars in their lineup that are on the other side here and there. Sounds like this is usually something else getting in the way, forcing them to move it to the other side.
The only rule it seems is that they can’t be on the back anymore.
You think you hate it now wait until you try to fill it with gas....

Getting a notification for a charge on a credit card and having to go digging to find out that "NFL CLEENG" is actually my B1G+ subscription renewing.

I mean duh who wouldn't get the association.
My favorite is the Amazon prime renewal. No heads up email or anything, just a sudden large charge on your account with no explanation of what it is for.

I so rarely buy from Prime that the week trial for $2 or whatever is cheaper. I agree. Should be auto-cancel. Nope. I have to remind myself to cancel. 🙁

I will give credit to Amazon, they will pro-rate the amount paid. There are even fewer sites that do that...

I interpret that as you can have it auto renew, or turn off auto renew - but it doesn’t send you a reminder in advance it is renewing. 🤷♀️
After the fiasco I had trying to prevent The Athletic from charging me, I went through and cancelled all our subscriptions. The ones I am keeping (only YTTV right now) and my other auto pay bills (Cell phone, internet, etc.) I moved to a single credit card that I won't use for anything else. So now I know where to look for subscriptions.
We cancelled Athletic, Prime, Netflix, and Disney+ last October. Honestly, I haven't felt a need to go back to any of them.
Prime we had for The Grand Tour, Jack Ryan, and free shipping. However Jack Ryan ended, and the Grand Tour continues to go significantly downhill. And there is so much fake stuff on Amazon it is becoming impossible to tell what is real and what is fake that I am refusing to shop there. Also, more and more things weren't eligible for their free shipping.
I think it's crazy that Amazon allows the things they do in terms of fake items, co-mingling Amazon-distributed products with Amazon-fulfilled products, and scrambling listings for real items with fake items... You can see the source of their downfall any time you search for a product...

We have one of each. I used to hate the fuel door on the passenger side. It was even one of the factors I considered when buying a new car (albeit a minor one). However, since I became a Costco member and fill up almost exclusively from their gas stations, I much prefer the fuel door on the passenger side. The lines on those pumps are shorter, as most people don't want to do the "stretch the hose awkwardly all the way around the car" move.

Down a bit further on the page:
You can also choose to set a renewal reminder by selecting Remind me Later in "Do not continue", which is accessible in Your Account, under "Manage Prime membership". If you choose this option, you will be reminded 3 days beforehand that your Prime membership is due to renew. (This reminder option won't be available if your renewal date is within the next three days.)

thanks. I’ve been struggling to find this info on the US Amazon site. If I follow the link above I have to switch to the Singapore site to see what you linked, otherwise it just takes you to the main Amazon us page. Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.
I keep seeing things about inflation is under control and right where we want it to be... The fed is going to cut rates because everything has stabilized... What world are these people living in? Because I'd like to go there for a little while.
This week we got a notice that daycare for our son, starting in September, will be going from $318 a week to $397 per week. Our center has had several increases over the last few years, going from about $250 a week prior to COVID when our daughter was this age, to now $318 a week for our son. The center was purchased by a much larger chain, this increase is too much to stomach. A 24.8% increase in one year?!? That's $20,644 annually for daycare for a 3 year old.
Our Car insurance in April 2022 was $149.15 per month for 2 vehicles. We have made no vehicle changes, and have no tickets or accidents since then, and our Car insurance is now $191.66 per month. We just asked our insurance agent to shop it, and he said that is the best he could do for the coverage we have. That is a 28.5% increase in 2 years. I am leaning towards just going to liability as both of our vehicles (paid-for) are over 8 years old, well over 100,000 miles and worth less than $6,000... But I asked and there isn't as much savings as I thought there would be.
Just tonight I went to my local liquor store, and my favorite 'cheaper' beer - Local 755, has gone from $12.99 a 4-pack last year to $15.99 a 4-pack this week. A month ago, for sure, it was $14.99. That is a 23% increase in 2 years, and still going up. Not only is the base price more, there are now additional taxes AND the store added a new 3.5% 'Service" fee. I was 'that guy' and complained - no service was provided, I grabbed my item and checked out. The only service was scanning my items and swiping my card to make sure I didn't steal them. I was previously always willing to pay an extra $1.00 or so more to support local business. If this is the crap you are going to do, I will just go down the street to Total Wine.
We haven't gone out to dinner in over a year because it is way too expensive.
My work (architecture) is slow, and we've been slow since summer of last year, as many of our customers are "waiting for better lending conditions". So I only got a 1.5% raise in my most recent annual review. We had some layoffs and work is somewhat steady, but not picking up.
I just shake my head every month... it seems like something new is rapidly climbing in price every time I turn around. I was trying to plan a special trip for my wife's 40th next year, but looking at flights... its $1,600 EACH to fly to Europe... over $1,000 EACH to fly to Hawaii... Happy 40th, I'll grill some steak kabobs in the backyard. I guess I chose the wrong career, because everyone around us has bought new toys recently; boats, RVs, new vehicles, etc. and not only can I not afford the item itself, I could never afford the upkeep or insurance on it as well.
I am pretty sure I made a similar post on this a few months back, but these last couple of increases in daycare and car insurance within the last week have really, REALLY stung.

Everything is more expensive and it seems no sign of slowing down. One suggestion that may help if you’re serious about Hawaii (depending on what you are able to use a credit card to pay for) - we got an Alaska airlines credit card that is providing a companion fare which we are using on a trip to Kauai. It’s basically saving the cost of one flight. I don’t know all the details but something to check out.
I don’t have kids, and hearing things like that is one (of many) reasons I’m glad I don’t. 😬
Oh boy did you poke the bear with that post! I’m out in DC while my hubby attends a conference. Tonight I went out to eat at a nice, but casual restaurant, basically a sports bar, while he dined on hotel banquet chicken. I sat at the bar and ordered roasted brussel sprouts and a Sidecar cocktail. Both were delicious. The bill came and the total with taxes was $56!! The drink was $26. I asked the bartender about the amount because I thought a mistake had been made. Nope. I walked out of there seriously pissed off. Nice capper to the evening.🤬

Had that happen for the Kentucky Derby last year, for the drink cost. We order mint juleps, of course. And got the bill, and one person in our group was pissed off that it was $18. I honestly didn't even think about it until the next day, then I really looked...the bartender gave us doubles, with non-rail bourbon. For the record, the other 3 in the group didn't even blink about the price, we knew the bartender.Oh boy did you poke the bear with that post! I’m out in DC while my hubby attends a conference. Yeah, you gotta have them at a good restaurant who roasts them and adds tasty things like oil, bacon, garlic…otherwise yeah, kinda blech. 😬
Speaking of expensive drinks, anyone who has purchased an adult beverage at Mariucci should feel taken advantage of. Two drinks for two people with a little tip is $70. That’s as much as the pair of tickets. 😳
I know some causes could still be from the traditional demand-pull, cost-push, or built in, but I have a feeling some is also “Oh wow they’ll pay THAT much? Sweet!”
I have a long list of things I could state here, but, we're getting dangerously close to the "No Politics" rule, so I'll stop at that, and request that everyone else does as well.
