Leslie Jordan died. A fabulous hilarious character actor. I still crack up over his line in Will and Grace

Started watching "La Reina del Sur" on Netflix streaming, aka "Queen Of The South." I have seen the USA series, and read the source novel.
The USA series (5 seasons, about a dozen eps per) greatly strayed from the book, and 4 eps in, the Telemundo/Univision version (2 seasons, but 60 eps per, so a telenovela/soap opera) is keeping close to the book. Enjoying it, for sure.
15 eps into this, and it's straying a little, but not much. The knock I have on it, since it's made like a soap opera, is the emoting, LOTS of flashbacks, and overall dramatization. That could be a culture difference, but given the format, I dunno. Still really enjoying it, at a certain level.

Watching E3 of Tales From the Territories on VICE. The series delves into the history of the regional wrestling associations that existed before the WWE took control. E3 is about the AWA.
La Reina del Sur is indeed full-blown soap opera, including (minor spoiler) a wife orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot to get insurance money (which doesn't happen in the book, and he's a major character. Still really liking, it though, about 45/116 (?) eps in.

Andor has been fantastic.
Luthen may be my new favorite Star Wars character. Skarsgard is such a brilliant actor.

Okay, finished the first season, ended like the book. Well done, overall. Apparently, the second season is "let's see what we can make up to continue the story." I only watched the first ep, but I have my doubts about how this is going to go. I almost liken it to "Carlito's Way" which was basically an unofficial sequel to "Scarface" (what if Tony Montana lived?). That sorta thing.

S2 of Slow Horses with Gary Oldman has begun!!
Wife and I are thoroughly enjoying Wednesday so far, and my goodness Jenna Ortega could be Aubrey Plaza's daughter at least as this character.
Finally running through Arrested Development and it is awesome

Pepsi, Where's My Jet? (Netflix streaming)
In the 90s, Pepsi had "Pepsi Points" to redeem stuff. Ran a commercial that showed you could get a Harrier Jet for 7MM points. A couple guys got the points. Lawsuits ensued.
I do remember the commercial, VAGUELY remember the story. 4 ep mini-series sort of deal, very interesting.

Ahh bad news Jimmy.....Angel died today. ?
One of the great TV characters of all time, Angel is right up there with Costanza, Ferret Face, and Buntz as great sidekick characters, in my humble opinion.

Three Pines – stars Alfred Molina (wonderfully cast) as a chief inspector in small town Quebec investigating a series of murders that may or may not be related. Presented somewhat as an old-fashioned whodunit but without gimmicks. I enjoyed the whole series.
Just watched the Ric Flair documentary on Peacock. Pretty good. Some new stuff and some stuff that was in various other Flair projects. Amazed that he is still alive and still drinks a ton every day.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

I'm hate-watching Season 1 of White Lotus. 3 episodes in (out of 6). Just about every single person on this show is unlikeable, except for maybe Steve Zahn's character.

Season 1 is very bad. Season 2 is outstanding!
I didn't know it until I looked it up, but Steve Zahn is from Southern Minnesota.

I liked season 1, but season 2 was definitely better.
Same. 1 was fine.
You are correct and guy above saying season 1 was “very bad” is ridiculous, it won 10 Emmys. The basis of the show is how awful, self-absorbed and unlikeable all these rich people are. Even Steve Zahn’s character has a level of those things but he’s so eminently likable that he comes off charming despite it.
To each their own - I thought S1 was tremendous.

I got a little carried away saying it was very bad, I will admit that. But in my opinion season 2 is leaps and bounds better.

From Marshall right? Didn’t stay there terribly long. Graduated from Robbinsdale Cooper.
Zahn is incredible in the movie "Rescue Dawn." One of the few perfect "thousand yard stares" I've seen in a movie. Great movie, too.

Love this show and the original Vikings, very well done.

OK…Eddie Murphy may have just gotten a close second…
Started "Velma" on HBOMax, 2 eps are out so far, new ones are released Thursdays.
Prequel to the Scooby Doo gang getting together.
It's NOT for kids.
Definitely Family Guy influenced (ugh, shudder, that show sucks)
Some redeeming moments, some are in-jokes (like how Norville/Shaggy says he hates drugs and never would touch them)
I'm really on the fence so far, will watch the first season and see how it turns out.

"That 90's Show" (Netflix streaming)
I did not have high hopes for it, even with the understanding that it has to plow through the "look who's returned" nostalgia, but it has its moments, about 6 eps in (out of 10 for the first season). I still don't think this has a long shelf life, though. Frankly, the best material involves Red and Kitty, and not Leia (their grand-daughter/Eric and Donna's kid).
I will give credit that it is trying to grown into its own, but that is a tough climb.

The Last of Us (HBO/HBOMax) series premier was damn near perfection. It is based off a video game (never played it so IDK how accurate the show will be to the game - I've heard it is basically spot on so far).
Definitely recommend checking out. Basic gist: fungi evolves to begin infecting humans, take over their brains etc.
@beauner They have done a fantastic job sticking to the source material from the game. The truck scene in the first episode was about as close as it gets to the game.

The sets on this show are amazing. Apparently it costs more than GOT which doesn’t seem possible.

Finished S1 tonight, big left turn towards the end. I still see only 2-3 seasons, but how they set up for S2 is more promising than I thought.

Poker Face. Per the webs:
A mystery-of-the-week series following Charlie Cale, who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road in her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can't help but solve. Guest stars are plentiful throughout, from Ellen Barkin and Adrien Brody to Luis Guzmán and Chloë Sevigny. An inverted detective series, also known as a "howcatchem" and popularized by "Columbo," the crime and perpetrator are shown at the beginning of each episode, and follows Charlie as she tries to solve the mystery.
It was created by Rian Johnson. Ep1 was fun and Adrien Brody was excellent in his one appearance. Hoping the fun and suspense continues.

Started S3 of Dead to Me. Still has its charm and I hope that what I assume will be the last season will be a good one.
Tried E1 of The Ark from SyFy and I made it about 5 minutes before saying, "nope".
Oh lord, wait until esp3, it will break your heart. One of the best thing’s currently on TV. I thought they’d burned that genre with Walking Dead, but honestly this one is better. The Last of Us (HBO/HBOMax) series premier was damn near perfection. This series is so expensive because basically each set is only used once. The Vegas one was millions!
And since I was a fan girl of Lady Mormont, I’m glad to see the actress again, and in a lead role.
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.
New Marc Maron special drops tomorrow on HBO/Max, (edited) my bad. If you haven't seen his act, it's hilarious.

The title of this special is "From Bleak To Dark." The title of the show is extremely accurate. A lot of "oh sh*" moments. It does get a bit touching with him talking about his gf that passed away, but of course he inserts humor into it, and it's the kind of humor that you're shaking your head at, but are still chuckling.
A friend hadn't hear of this comic (somehow) and I said, "He's more cynical than Lewis Black." Friend was kind of, "Wait, wha...?" This special sure exemplifies it.

I need to watch this. I like him as a comic and his podcast is very good.
It's weird how many comics I enjoy today that I don't think I knew about even 5 years ago. I didn't know of Marc Maron until GLOW, I had completely forgotten about Bobby Lee after MAD TV until a few years ago, there's also Andrew Santino (who I am pretty sure I didn't know before he appeared on that now defunct series on Showtime), Bert Kreischer, Tom Segura and a few others.
Speaking of which several of the aforementioned have some solid podcasts such as WTF with Marc Maron, Bad Friends, Your Mom's House, 2 Bears 1 Cave. I also enjoy Spade & Carvey, and Literally with Rob Low.
However I might only fit in 1 or 2 episodes in total from of all of them per week but good stuff. I also try to mix in some audio-books, the Science Hour from BBC, James Fodor, History This Week, Dan Snow, etc.
To me, he combines Kinison, Black, Hicks, (old) Stern, all in one. Satire, biting commentary, and yet human all at once.

I somehow missed the Pizza season from Chef's Table on Netflix, but found it and realized there is an episode on Ann Kim the owner of Pizzeria Lola, Young Joni and Hello Pizza. (yes also Sooki & Mimi but I don't believe they serve pizza). Ann representing!

Watched Ep 1 (of 6) of The Gold. Based upon a true story.
Six armed men rob a Brink's-Mat depot just outside London in 1983 that they hoped would net them a million pounds in cash and instead they ended up with 26m in gold bullion.
Now they're stuck trying to figure out how to fence that much loot knowing that the whole community knows of the heist and it will be extremely difficult to pull off.
Ep 1 was very good and well worth a look if the story interests you.
