I really enjoyed The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix.  I found the Michael Haller character much better done on this show that in the movie played by Matthew McConaughey.

I am looking forward to watching this.

It's been watchable for me, but I am disappointed in the script. There are a lot of cheesy lines.

I do like that they move things along quickly.

Obi-Wan continues to impress. I was mistaken in that they were Fri releases. Nope. Just the debut. Wed releases. Now I am really pumped at Wed double-features of Obi and Mayans. Smile
Side note, no spoiler. Whoever casted the girl who plays Leia in Obi needs to get promoted. That little girl is PERFECT for the role.

I thought she was a bit much. Not a fan of the Grand Inquisitor either.

Yeah, she is a bit much. I get that an adult Leia that would say "I recognized the foul stench when I was brought aboard" needs to be a snarky/spunky person and that would develop at a younger age, but...just too much for 10yo (who looks more like a 7yo) Leia, in my opinion.

I agree with you about the "Grand Inquisitor" as well. I get that there needs to be a main evil character but we already have Darth Vader for this series. Do we really need 3 others for each series that's done? And on that note, there's also something off-putting to me about naming a strong female character played by a black woman "3rd Sister".

All that said, I am still enjoying this series so far.

Well I guess they weren’t in love with the that particular Grand Inquisitor character either.

The brother/sister references are names given to the Inquisitor group to show unity, there’s nothing racial about it. I like the Third Sister character and Darth Vader always seems to have a Lieutenant who is loyal but also trying to wedge their own motives in.

ep3 was great, the Vader scenes are pretty awesome, will watch 4 later today

The Grand Inquisitor is a token bad guy. Meh.
Third Sister is necessary.

As for Leia, this is how she has always been, hence how she came to be. No issue with that. "Daughter" of a Senator. Privileged, so to speak.

Mayans:
Some things have started to change...
Bishop has a sense of purpose, The Reyes brothers continue on their paths, much different than S1. Mini-Sister still kinda freaks me out, I'll be honest. The Galindo line is very intriguing, and I mean every branch of it. Curious about the Coco line, though.

Obi-Wan...it was nice to see a little of the old Obi-Wan.

Mayans: A lot of storylines going on.  It will be interesting to see how this Galindo storyline evolves especially since Alvarez is going the way of Jax it seems.

Stay Sweet: Pray And Obey (Netflix Streaming):
Documentary (4 parts, about 45 min long for each part) examining the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints.

Ok, so, basic Mormonism wasn't enough? They went MORE hardcore? ...alright...This is twisted. I was going to marathon the entire 4pt series last night, and it was a bit heavy to handle. It's f*ing sick. Absolutely disgusting how this "church" works.

Watched the first episode of Ms. Marvel this weekend. I'm intrigued.  Really liked some of the easter eggs they threw in during episode 1. They did change up her powers a bit from her comic book powers from what I can tell, but I'm guessing that's because they wanted it to flow better for upcoming projects where she'll be sharing the screen with other heroes.

The Chestnut Man - 6-part Danish series on Netflix about two newly united detectives hunt a killer that may be also linked to the abduction of a prominent politician's child.  Very well done and highly recommend.

I'd put IV up there...I mean, at least III was COMICALLY bad, and great to watch in 3B (c) Bob/Doug Mackenzie. The drunk Superman scene alone was hysterical.

Season finale of Mayans is this week. I get access to the episode when I'm somewhere west of Ontonagon MI. There IS massive WiFi, but...do I push it off until I get back? Or do I give in and plug in to watch it? ARGH.

(FTR, my friends and I are in agreement, we will NOT miss the new ep of Obi; they are not into the Mayans, though).

Sherwood on BBC:

Two shocking and unexpected murders shatter an already fractured community leading to one of the largest manhunts in British history while threatening to inflame historic divisions sparked during the Miners' Strike three decades before.

Ep 1 was very gripping and has me locked in.  Based on true events from the early 80's and written by someone that grew up in their shadow.  Very BBC-ish in style and delivery and will only have 6 episodes which is a plus.

in the opening scene after the credits. I might have let out a little *squee!* Grin

Have not seen the new Obi, as when my friends and I wanted to watch it on Wed, since we were just going to chill at the resort anyway, the whole area's internet was out. 🙁 So that'll be tomorrow. I do know the season finale this week is something like an hour and a half. *shockface*

Just making a comment (so please no spoilers from anybody whose already watched the 2nd half of Ozark season 4) but damn, if theirs any justice & symmetry to the tale…I hope Wendy doesn’t survive. What a awful, greedy, selfish, deceitful, hypocritical POS…the person her character has evolved into over these four seasons!

I did watch the new Obi, finally. Good ep. Tomorrow night should be fun. ALSO saw that S2 is up in the air. Apparently they wrote S1 as a closed end story. :ddown:  We'll see, though. I think it's a marketing ploy to see the fan poutrage factor, and they'll go from there.

Dark Winds.  6-part series that takes place in Navajo Nation in 1971 New Mexico.  A murder mystery thriller based upon the book that also inspired the 2002 film Skinwalkers.  E1 was very compelling and hopefully the momentum carries through.

I stumbled upon a couple episodes of a show called Expedition Unknown and I don't think I will watch anymore.  Do they ever find anything in these types of shows?  I remember from a few years back one called "Diggers" and those guys would freak out if they found a button.

I have high hopes for The Terminal List on Amazon Prime, probably going to binge it this weekend when I have time.  If it is as good as Jack Ryan it should be very good.  I'm a broken record when I say this but I wish they would get the rights to Mitch Rapp so it could be given the proper movie style treatment.

Binged Terminal List…didn’t hate it, didn’t love it.  It missed on what makes Jack Ryan so enjoyable.  Krasinski is so much better than Pratt in this type of role which is weird to say since they both cut their teeth in similar roles on tv.  The story isn’t horrible but the storyline is bad.

The Good, The Bad, The Hungry (Dis+ streaming, a 30/30 ESPN episode):
Two competitors address their years-long rivalry on their sport's biggest stage: the Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Takeru Kobiyashi vs Joey Chestnut. It does explain the backstory well, and IMO, the Major League Of Eating PR guy is a total ass/egomaniac. Seems like a nice guy at first, but shows his true colors at the end. Both competitors show some flaws, also, that's natural in a rivalry. I did like that they showed what these guys do to prepare for these contests. It's insane. I can't even imagine eating that much food, and I thought I ate quite a bit (lb for lb, mind you).

Definitely recommend.

It does explain the backstory well, and IMO, the Major League Of Eating PR guy is a total ass/egomaniac. Seems like a nice guy at first, but shows his true colors at the end.

I always equated that guy as a P.T. Barnum type of person.

I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!

No kidding.

The cinematography in this show is so good it’s distracting. The angles and perspectives they use are endlessly interesting.
