Jeez, we are very close here. To qualify hockey rink, like walking into Mariucci or like Scheels in Fargo. Popcorn, candied almonds, etc. Not musty old nutcup smell you get in a youth arena.

Outboard or Diesel engine...growing up smelling a Diesel engine at a truck stop at night is a fond memory of riding with my Dad in his semi.

Yes. All of those are great! I prefer 2 stroke engines.

Favourite sound is the loon call. Always loved that sound.

For me, nothing better than walking into a city hockey rink first thing in the morning. I don't know what it is. The smell of the actual ice, combined with the rubber flooring, etc. Love it.

And I also have fond memories of diesel engines. My dad was a firefighter when I was growing up and I would go with him to calls. I'd stay back at the fire department while they went on the calls. The smell of the place after the trucks left is something I'll never forget.

But the smell of outboard motors (yes, 2 cycle YE) as they warm up just before leaving to go fishing is calming and exciting at the same time. Hard to explain.

Along the same lines as smells of outboard motors is sounds, I love waking up at the lake to an outboard motor way off in the distance on a quiet morning that is getting closer.

I remember when I first bought our cabin, I was working up there during the middle of the week and I was outside at 8am. No other lake traffic or neighbors around and I hear that far off noise. I just grabbed a chair and sat down until the boat drove past. Boy I can’t wait for that again this spring.

Oh boy, here goes. About 20 years ago, I was pulled over and arrested for DUI in a neighboring state. I went to court, pleaded guilty and wrote a check for $500 for the court fees. The paperwork got lost and it never went on my driving record. I've never driven intoxicated since that night.

Several years ago I was pulled over for speeding on my way to work when I lived in western WI. I had accelerated out of a 35mph small residential area, probably to 60-65 mph or so; it was on a rural farmland road with no marked speed after the slow zone (having lived in MN my whole life before that point I assumed it was 55mph). I was driving my firebird, and I am 100% certain the cop was not actually checking radar because he had just turned a corner when his lights came on. There was another car just like mine in the area that must have gotten in trouble often because we were pulled over another time and the cop was obviously surprised when he saw who the driver was.

Anyways, he wrote me for doing 55 in a 45 mph road (which is what he said the unmarked rural roads were).

That same day on my way home from work a brand spanking new 55mph sign had been installed after the speed zone!

I got a call a few weeks later on my birthday, the cop said he didn’t know they were adding the signs and since he wrote it for 55 could no longer charge me. It was dropped, and that has still been my only “speeding ticket”.

Favorite car I’ve owned is my current '14 Acura TSX. Way to much fun to drive.

If my budget was unlimited I could easily see myself behind the wheel of an Aston Martin.

I drive a stick shift Subaru Legacy right now. Love the AWD and the manual. Fun little thing to drive. Next car probably something fun like a Golf R or a Wrx.

Dream car would have to be the Lancia Stratos or the Ferrari F40. I’ve always loved Italian cars.

Firebird Trans Am WS6. Ever since I saw the commercials for them when I was younger I wanted one. Bought a used 2002 after I got my first big-girl job, it has its problems but I still enjoy it tremendously. I’d love to someday get an old-school trans am to fix up.

My next want is a decked out Jeep to go off-roading. Hoping I can save up enough to afford payments after I get my student loans payed off in four years.....

Never really been much into luxury cars, but I saw a picture once of an Aston Martin One 77. If I ever won a big enough lottery I’d consider hunting one down, and I’d actually drive it!

Dream car? Ferrari 250 GT Lusso. Don't care that I probably wouldn't fit.

Favorite that I have owned? Probably the early 2000's Acura 3.2 TL. Not a race car, but a bit of a sleeper. Quite a bit quicker than one would expect.

Dream car? Easy! Shelby America Cobra with a side oiling aluminum block 427.

2nd choice would be a Yenko Camaro

Looking back in retrospect I should have not Tboned my '65 GTO ( Dark blue hardtop w/ a 4sp & Carter AFB) into a tree at, oh. 15 MPH in Jan of '71. I had bought it the spring I graduated HS and it was a fun year and a half.

The POS Belvidere w/ a slant 6 was wheels but that was all it was.

The Goat had been in a wreck before I bought it but had been pounded out and patched with bondo and paint.

I didn't have garage access ( "student"athlete at the time) to a shop or garage.

From the next summer on I was into motorcycles.

Favorite car that I've owned: 1969 Firebird 400

Dream car: Shelby Mustang. I'm not picky about the year or the engine, although a '68 GT500KR convertible would be nice.

My favorite car was my 2001 VW Passat. That thing drove better than any sedan I test drove when I bought my Altima unless I wanted to spend $50 or $60k.

I’d love either something Italian or an old 911 with a manual transmission.

After social distancing you should come drive my kid's car. '14 Golf R, 6 speed turbo. He's added a cold air intake, short throw shifter, waiting on a high pressure fuel pump and has performance clutch and exhaust waiting to go in. Has added a tune and tint as well. Was fun before, will be ticket attracting rocket when done.

Wrangler 130K, but I didn't drive it enough (it was 17 years old). Cam is at about 51.

My previous vehicle, an 89 Chevy Corsica, made it 270K, then my bro and I lost track of it.

The best car I ever had given the circumstance was a 1980 Dodge Omni. I paid $100 to a graduating senior at the end of my junior year of college. That dang thing made more more treks between Kato and Mpls than I could count, could pull right out of a snow drift after being plowed under, always started, had a great heater and had a decnet stereo system for something that old. :)

As an adult I'm very much enjoying my Nissan Patrol.

Dream car I could never afford: Ferrari Laferrari from the modern era or an Aston Martin DB5

Dream car when the kids graduate: Jaguar XK-R or a Porsche Cayman

What is your favorite vacation? One time trip you made? An annual spot? Not a dream trip, something you’ve actually taken.

Mine is Italy. I LOVE Italy, all of it. The food, the wine, the sites, the people. Been to Rome, Milan, Venice, Florence and the Dolomite region. I want to move to Italy for at least 6 months and really live. Hubby is welcome to join me :good2:

Houghton. ;)

Actually, the Denver F4 was awesome. Spent the first half of the week in CO Springs, hanging out with friends, before transitioning to Denver for the F4 experience. Met a lot of awesome people, saw the town, lots of memories.

Tel Aviv was incredible. Walking around old Jaffa, the free public beaches, the food OMG the food. You really had to dig for great beer, but great wine was in your face at all times. It was hotter than hell, but I didn't care. Had a fantastic time.

The car. I sold it to my brother at 200k, he sold it to a co-worker at 250k, co-worker left the job at 275k. That thing just wouldn't die.

Wife and I are friends with a couple who bought a place in Italy, close to where her mother lives, late last year. Unfortunately, we all know what's happened in both countries since then. Hopefully things will start to improve before too long so they can spend some time in their second home, and with her mother, before too much time passes.

Totally unrelated, my wife and I spent about 10 days in the northern part of Italy and Switzerland, traveling with our daughter's summer hockey team which played some games over there. It was a blast spending several days in Lake Como, a day in Venice, and then going from city to city to play different teams. We traveled in a double-decker bus, with the players up top having fun, and the parents below having even more fun, aided by all the Italian wine we consumed on the way!

Mine is Italy. I LOVE Italy, all of it. The food, the wine, the sites, the people. Been to Rome, Milan, Venice, Florence and the Dolomite region. I want to move to Italy for at least 6 months and really live. Hubby is welcome to join me :good2:

In Florence we had a little place in a cute off the beaten path neighborhood. Every day I’d stop in at the corner coffee spot and have an espresso, standing up at the counter, chugged back in one gulp. One day the old men are talking away to the owner and it was clear they were talking about me. The owner turned to me and said, “they are impressed, you drink like a local”. After that each day I got acknowledged by the old guys, I was in :dup:

Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

Favorite car? One you’ve owned? One you’ve dreamed of owning? Answer up to you.

I’ve always wanted an MG Midget, British Racing Green. I know they run like crap, that’s not part of the dream Wink

Funny that I just read this now. In HS a buddy’s Dad owner a red one and they always had problems with it. Today leaving the grocery store, I saw a silver one and recognized it a mile away.

From the time I was 15, I dreamed of a Jeep Wrangler. I finally bought one about 4 years ago so my dream came true. Had it just over a year and the engine blew up. Now I won’t get another one until my kids are all grown.

My other car dream is a 1967 Shelby Fastback (Eleanor) and a brand new Shelby painted to opposite color scheme.

Munich for Oktoberfest. I've been over twice and had a blast both times. I'm planning on going again this fall if this whole pandemic thing is done.

The first time was quite the adventure. Started out with a couple of days in Iceland. I hope to go back there some day. After that, London for 3 days and watching the Vikings play at Wembley. That is one impressive stadium. I'll be heading back to watch Chelsea soon too. From there we took the train to Paris. It's one boring trip underneath the English channel, but I still took a train 30+ miles under water. We didn't stay in Paris but drove to Normandy to visit and pay our respects at the cemetery. Unfortunately, for the first time ever, it was closed due to the US government shut down. Next it was back to Paris to catch our overnight train to Munich. At the border there is a rap on the door, a flashlight in my face and a policeman with a machine gun... Shock . Apparently they were looking for a fugitive. Our train stopped at Augsburg because someone had committed suicide by jumping in front of a train (pretty common from what we were told), so they told us to just get on any other train. Finished it off with 5 days in Munich for the fest. The people were fantastic. The city is beautiful and full of history. I had my second beer at the fest and turned to WPoS and said "I'm never leaving."

Maui. I am a beach vacation guy. It’s a great place with snorkeling, golf, different type of beaches (White, Black, red sand), site seeing volcano and road to Hana, whale watching, fishing, etc. I love the Polynesian lifestyle.

We have a condo rented in December so we can go as a family over Christmas. I’ve been twice but my wife and kids have not been before. This will be (if it’s safe to travel) my first trip during Christmas. Mele Kalikimaka.

My favorite vacations were the wine trip we did to Mendoza, Argentina & the Country wide trip (17 days total) we did to Thailand.

My favorite annual trip is going to Bayfield for the Apple Festival in October. My grandparents lived on Madeline Island while I was growing up and I just love the area up there. We usually get some amazing Fall colors too while we are there
