Will Skahan made it official, he commits to Boston College.
Garrett Lindberg of Moorhead and the NTDP commits to Nodak. Saw that one coming 4 months ago. Surprised it took this long
Former Shattuck player who also played for the Chaska-Chan bantams for a year.

Sam Ranallo of Rogers to St. Thomas. I always thought he was really good.
^^pretty good Moorhead Spud
Does anyone know if the Gophers had any interest in Ryan Kraft's kid Mason? He's committed to Kato.
I don’t believe they offered him but I’m sure he was looked at.
Not sure where to put this, but Boeser explains why he did not choose the Gophers.

Olympic rink, stood up on a recruiting visit to a game, cousin was a badger when he was a kid and just never liked the gophers due to being a fan of his cousin/badgers.
I can see the Olympic sheet impact......especially when Biz takes a shot at your skating! The recruiting visit nugget does not reflect well on the previous coaching staff.
The other parts about the red and green teams, sounds like he was messed up in the head from an early age.
(BTW, he's supposed to be a great kid & he is from a wonderful family)

Childhood memories play a huge impact on your decisions even as an adult.
My dad was raised on a farm in Southwest Minnesota during the Depression and used to listen to the Yankees on the radio. His heroes were players like Joe DiMaggio, Whitey Ford, and Yogi Berra. When the Twins came to Minnesota, he never did get around to cheering for them.
I remember when he decommitted and we were hopeful that he was coming to the Gophers because he played in Waterloo with Sheehy and Cammy. I guess we really never had too much of a chance

I happen to know somebody who is fairly close with Boeser from their youth days (oh good for me). While there was always going to be a draw elsewhere, word is the communication style of the last staff closed the door pretty quickly on his chances of arriving on campus.

And this a big reason I am holding out hope that Snuggy could come back next season. He is 19 years old (turns 20 in June) and likely grew up a HUGE Gopher fan since his father was a star with the Gophers. I still expect him to leave for the NHL after this season but being a Gopher kid likely helps our chances of him staying.

My father is a NY Rangers fan to this day for the same reason. North Stars started when he was 16.

My dad became a NY Giants football fan because he grew up in St. Peter and the Giants held their summer camp at GAC for a few years. This was before the Vikings existed. He did eventually catch on with the Vikings and we even had ST for a few years, but to this day has a soft spot for the Giants.

That’s just disappointing. I hate seeing good players turned away who could have made a difference here turned off for stupid reasons like that. If you prefer another school I can live with that but to get blown off on a recruiting thing I would probably go somewhere else too.

I'm willing to bet that the Gophers knew he was likely going else where so they didn't spend as much time/energy on him so they could spend more time/energy on players they had better chances of getting.
That's not a great reason to ignore a recruit. I'd prefer they not schedule the visit in the first place.
And while surely the odds are low for some recruits, they're 0 if you don't put in a legit effort. I mean you can't turn a recruit if you don't take them seriously.
Now I doubt Bob runs things that way but...
btw - for some reason the dialogue box I'm typing into is black, and I can barely read what I'm typing.
Wanting to reschedule doesn't mean they ignored him but what ever happened happened.
As the saying going there are usually two sides to every story and often times the truth is some where in between hence my earlier post.
The Gopher brain trust not telling Brock they need to reschedule until he calls from the parking lot wondering what is going in is basically ignoring him. Bad optics and obviously left a bad taste.

And it can be what happened and what really happened is two different stories. I wouldn’t put much stock in this now and wouldn’t put much stock if it was 110% true.

Yeah from what I have heard about the end of that era this story would not surprise me in the least.
Yeah, the fact that die-hard Gopher Brock Faber was once committed to Notre Dame during the late Lucia years tells you everything you need to know about how recruiting was going in those years. I loved Don, but slightly overstayed his welcome.
Can't even blame John Hill for this one.
Surprised nobody has blamed the B1G 🤣

Regarding the Boeser blunder, there was one person that was doing the leg work of recruiting him at the time... and it wasn't the head coach or the associate head coach. Not saying he would have ended up at the U anyway but you can pretty much put that situation at the feet of one person.

Geeze, with the last name Panzer, you'd think he would have been the perfect fit in Grand Forks.
OH COME ON!! Someone was bound to say it eventually.

I know there’s already been some Panzers through the program, would presume there is a relation?

looks like UND wanted him to play another season of juniors.

That's a strange one, he will be 20 next month so I can see why he'd want to be in college next year. You would think they'd want to keep a local kid from that family around.
There are also a couple younger Panzers, one who plays for EGF, that they may have burned bridges with.
With the way the transfer portal is, it won't shock me if the Panzer kid ends up playing for UND in a few years anyway. May as well just get his college career going and if he doesn't like it there, he can just talk to them in a year or two.
Maybe he went on a tour there and realized his mistake.
