Taking the silver lining on this one. I get to see either Penn State or Michigan’s season end tonight!!

Great point!

It seems to me that MN and MI are destined to have it out in the end for all the marbles. They have played each other so close this season and both seem to be the best of the best with the high end talent along with strong support players. I really hoped we would have seen the Gophers win last Saturday but told the boys as we walked out  I suspect there will be a rematch of even higher stakes.

This is what I was thinking after that loss to the ugly helmets as well.

Both teams have high end talent and like to run and gun but I believe the Gophers have better goaltending and our D talent is deeper.  We can play run and gun and\or play a more shut it down D style if needed. Healthy, I like the Gophers chances against them if that indeed plays out in Tampa.

I don't like either team but I want the ugly helmets to win today.

Would love a chance to play them again for a NC!

Michigan frightens me. Not that the Gophers can’t and wouldn’t beat them, but I’d rather not play them.

A Michigan rematch would be nerve wracking fun,  but it would be the most difficult matchup. While I would feel very confident going against Penn State in a championship game.  Championships live forever and you don't get bonus points for having a harder road so I will be rooting for Penn State Today.

this. 100% this. No one will care who we played to get it if the banner is hanging.

The PSU game plan seems to be hit anything dressed like corn.

And shoot. A lot.

PSU vs Q would be quite a contrast in styles. PSU starts shooting as they're getting off the bus while Q looks like their strategy is to try to win 1-0.

Q coach thinks Jacque Lemaire coached a game that was far to wide open and risky.

Don't think we have had any OT's so far in the tourney, a bit strange.

I am not a fan of that call and is something hockey at all levels needs to define better.

Porto maybe had one skate in the crease and basically slid into the PSU forward who was 2-3 feet from the crease.

You are correct, which seems odd to me as well. I feel like usually 2 or 3 overtime games during regionals. Maybe we get one here.

I'm ok with the call.  Porto was sliding to the left to make the save, and the PSU player skated into him.  Porto's right skate was even still in (well, over) the crease as he was making the play.  They'll call that every time.

Fairly predictable. They both used all their goals up on Friday

PSU playing a lot more defense first style today and seems to be giving Michigan fits. Sound hockey this time of year.

1-0 lions. Wowza

I'd say it will take more than 1 to beat MI but I also didn't think there was a chance they'd keep em quiet through 2 so who knows

Michigan will score with about 14 to 15 mins remaining in the 3rd, and then it'll be an ugly scrum in front of the net goal that'll win it. Either team.

Portillo having the tip of his skate in the crease is irrelevant. It's where the skater is when contact is made. It can still be goaltender interference if the ref determines that the contact was intentional. That was a bad call IMO

When does MI start complaining about having to play a conference rival who’s hosting?

Should be an exciting 3rd period. IMO, I think if psu tries to pack it in they’ll concede but if they play like it’s still tied, i like their chances.

Just can’t play not to lose.

If a goal had been scored then review and possibly waive it off.  No way should it be two minutes.

Penn State is playing really well in their own end, but they need to be trying to score on offense. Michigan is giving them chances and Penn St is just satisfied to skate it around the perimeter.

Feels a little like PSU is ok with just defending. I'm not confident they can do it for this long.
