I think this might have taken care of cleaning the gutters in the spring. Of course I’ll still have to do it in the summer after the helicopter seeds are finally off, but I’ll take what I can get. (We just moved in, previous owner didn’t clean out the gutters in the fall)

The forecasts I saw from a friend who lives out by DIA said 18-24” but Estes Park and some places a little north of there have a 24-30 estimate

The microclimates and divides out there cause some crazy stuff to happen. Castle Rock was in the 18-24” range but Colorado Springs (30 miles south on the other side of the Monument Divide) is only expecting 8-12

It will be interesting to see if there are storms closer to the regional. Loveland is just north of Denver.

Loveland’s about 15 miles north of where I am right now. The latest forecast I saw had Loveland in the 12-18 inch zone, but things can change.

We’ll see where the weather service takes with this system out west. First we were going to get rain showers and highs in the mid 40’s, then rain and snow showers with a high of 40, then snow showers, then snow, but less than inch and now a high of 35 with 1-3 inches. I’ll be interested in the evolving forecast over the next couple days.

I had my winter tires taken off on Monday, replaced by my four all-seasons. Plus my golf course opens tomorrow. Sure signs we’ll be getting one of our infamous March snowstorms.

I’ll put insurance back on my 2 main bikes this coming week.

    That’ll insure a 7″ heavy wet snowfall.

18 inches of heavy wet snow in Longmont

reports of 24 inches in Loveland and Fort Collins.

My niece lives in Fort Collins and says her friends roof collapsed while she (the friend) is in Louisiana. My niece is now keeping two extra dogs and two extra cats while the landlord scrambles to try to seal up a roof…

Well the last time I looked at today’s forecast we were looking at 0.5” of snow. Now it’s saying 4”.

    Yuck.

I’ll be interested to see how much snow sticks. The air temp should be in the mid-30s, and the ground has warmed up quite a bit, so I’m thinking a lot of it will melt.

    Update from GPL’s Meteorologist.

    Quote:

The twin cities will squeak out of this one due to dry air cutting off the progression. The storm didn’t shift north, the NWS was just late in issuing the warnings bc they didn’t know how far north this would go and when it gets close to the cities, they get antsy about issuing warnings that won’t happen. This is now right, and is aligned with what it looked like late last week in the models. We’ll see if the snow totals get there though. There was a longer period of sleet early this morning than expected

We’re close to 8″ here in Mankato, the roads are atrocious. Visibility was an issue early this morning but not anymore, just very slushy roads with ice underneath.

We ended up with about 7 inches here in SW MN. I had to move the snow by the garage as it drifted to about 2 feet high. I will let the rest of the driveway just melt, as it is soft underneath and I would cause more of a mess.

Another tornado warning. First it was at work in Burnsville, now at home in Apple valley (we live on the Rosemount border). Try quickly catching parakeets to throw in a smaller cage to transport downstairs.

Of course by the time I got them the rain was over. 😆

Another tornado warning. First it was at work in Burnsville, now at home in Apple valley (we live on the Rosemount border). Try quickly catching parakeets to throw in a smaller cage to transport downstairs.

Of course by the time I got them the rain was over. 😆

Chirp, chirp, mother :censored: . ;)

Still getting a little rain for about 10 minutes, then nothing. Then more rain for about 10 minutes, then nothing. Mother Nature doesn’t know what she wants to do here.

That’s interesting because it’s come down pretty hard here over the last hour. Definitely been more than just a little rain

That is odd. I’ve gotten dribbles at best. Hints that something may be coming, but then….pfffffffft.

    I would leave the parakeets.

    Tornado warnings. Fun.

I got back to my car last night after softball and as soon as I sat down my phone starts blaring about tornado warnings.

Glad we had the early games last night.

Sadly if a tornado was imminent (or the hubby was home alone) that’s what would happen. We weren’t too worried last night so I gave it a go.

I think that the sprinkle pill also fixes that…

The strange thing about last nights storms were that the NWS did not issue any watches in advance of last nights action. I also don’t believe the Twin Cities were under any type of severe threat yesterday. Usually the NWS is over cautious. I think they forecasted “light showers”. I know that the heating and the humidity of the day caused these to bubble up, and trying to predict the weather is a crap shoot sometimes, and I am a fan of the NWS in what they do.

.25 here. That gives us .5 since April 8. :(

I got about the same here yesterday. We are at about 1 inch for the month of May now. The corn and soybeans are now up, and would love to see a good soaker, as the ground is just soaking up what we get.

Essentially all day, we were in a “General Risk” category. This is the very bottom of the scale, below even “Marginal”

Even right after the tornado warnings were allowed to expire, the weather radio “Severe Weather Outlook” was saying that spotter activation would not be needed, even though there was an active formal weather net for another 10-15 minutes.

Definitely an usual night, that’s for sure.

Never saw a lightning flash or heard a clap of thunder in St. Louis Park. Couple of good downpours was about it.

I was unaware there was action. We had a couple of lightning flashes- just enough to cancel my kid’s soccer- and 10 minute of decent rain.

We might see a high that is sub 95F for the first time in 2 months within the week. No I don’t miss -10 but I miss fluctuations and the occasional, “wait, what?” without question.

I think I’d rather have the cold than the heat/humidity for long durations. But if you give me a pool I’d certainly give the heat a go, just to make sure.

1.3 at my house last night. Not a single clap of thunder where I live. No wind either. But got good rain. Now my lawn is too long and hopefully I can get to it tomorrow afternoon.
