I did those gunslinger missions pretty quickly too. The pistols you can pick up from them are awesome.
I’m using 2 of the pistols right now. Picked up all 3, but at some point, I lost one. Not sure how, or when, but I was back to the cattlemen’s revolver, and the other one was gone, and I couldn’t switch back to it. Then I got the other 2, and just use those, but still wish I had the 3rd one I lost.
I also found the pump action shotgun, which makes killing people much more efficient.
I used Flaco’s revolver and Granger’s revolver almost exclusively, until I created a couple customized guns that I rotated. After the epilogue you can find another elite pistol or two that I use now.
Flaco’s is the one I lost somehow. I am using Granger’s and Midnight’s right now.

Man…I don’t miss some of those treasure hunts. A couple of the ones where you have to crawl along a cliff led to major frustrations when I fell off the cliff😂
I found the first treasure hunt one, don’t remember the name, maybe the Hill Gang, pretty easy. I saw the first one, and had a pretty good idea of where it was. It took about 15 minutes of searching, and I saw the right rock formation in the distance, then took another 15 minutes to get there and figure out how to get the next map. Map 2 was super simple, I knew where it was immediately when I saw it. Map 3 was also pretty easy, as I remembered the location from a past mission. The Poisonous Trail maps seem much trickier.

I think it was the poisonous trail one that I fell off the cliff on.
I’m assuming you’re referring to the Jack Hall Gang treasure.
There’s a third one that was medium difficulty too.

::Finally got my 4 kills with one stick of dynamite. Decided to raid a murfree brood camp and kill all but four. Then I hog-tied the surviving 4 brood members and laid them in a square and threw a stick of dynamite in there. Now I have to kill four consecutive enemies with the same tomahawk.
That’ll be interesting.

Is there a specific way to hogtie them so they don’t come untried after a while? I tried doing that for the long tomahawk kill challenge, and the SOBs would come untied after a minute or two, when I started walking away.

Not that I’m aware of. Maybe it’s a distance thing too? I was worried about that last night cuz I hogtied the first Murfree almost immediately after entering Murfree territory. Then shot a couple and then hogtied another. Then shot a couple more and hogtied a third. I had to go down into the cave to get a fourth (and kill the other last remaining brood members). I thought for sure the first guy would have been broken out of his hogtie by then but he stayed put.
However, when I was doing the bandit challenge to hogtie three people and leave them in train tracks I tried to do all three at the same time and have them get run over by a train (not necessary for the challenge, just run) but after the first one hit the tracks, I got on my horse to hogtie a couple others and bring them back. By the time I got back with the second guy the first guy had broken out of the hogtie and was wandering around a bit. So naturally I hogtied him again. Then left those two and went for a third, where I didn’t have to go very far and the other two were still on the tracks.
And yes, it was very fun to watch them get run down by a train

Judging by what I know of how you played the first half of the game I think I know the ending you had

::You guys miiiight want to throw those last couple posts in spoilers, for people reading the thread who haven’t finished the game. Epilogue discussion:
[hide]lol Handy, I wanted to tell you at some point when you said how much bad shit you were doing, that it affects which ending you get, but obviously didn’t want to spoil anything:lol: I had the high honor ending, and I thought it was poignantly done. Especially because of Arthur’s comment earlier in the game about how he wants to go out, he says something along the lines of “just face me to the east so I can watch the sun rise one last time”. And then he gets to go out with a peaceful sunrise after helping John and his family escape. It tied a nice bow on Arthur’s story, I thought.
However, I agree with you that Arthur is far superior to John. There is some interesting parts about playing John and seeing how his experiences might lead up to RDR1. There are some cool moments like seeing the barn at Beecher’s Hope where so much shit went down in RDR1.
Also the Epilogue contains the absolute best part of RDR2… The house building montage!!

::Is anyone else surprised that (at least through the point in the game I’m at) Arthur never gets laid? Sure, there are the bath HJs, but I figured, based on what I saw in Grand Theft Auto like 12 years ago, and the fact that it was the same company that makes both games, that Arthur would have the option of going to brothels, and they would have him hook up with some of the nasty ass frontier women along the way. Not that it would have really added anything to the game, it would have been strictly gratuitous, but going in I figured that would be in there.

Lol yeah, I was honestly borderline shocked that there are no seedy brothels in RDR2

They wont have any idea who Milton is until the Epilogue.
Unless they played RDR1 in which case it isnt a spoiler anyways[hide]My ending was way more dramatic. After escaping the cave with John we climb a mountain in the rain being chased by Pinkertons. I convince John to leave cause I am about 12 seconds away from drowning in my own blood. I hold off the Pinkertons but Dutch and Micah show up. I have a long drawn out fight with Micah, plead with Dutch and get my face cratered as Micah cheers and Dutch does nothing.Sadie Adler (second best character in the game IMHO) just told me she thinks she found Micah so hopefully I get to kill him. Same holds true for Dutch…Arthur must be avenged!![/hold]

::Up to 44% complete. Probably about half way through chapter 3, but not sure on that, since I have no idea how long the chapter will be. Just burned a bunch of tobacco fields. Spent time yesterday progressing a few of the challenges, and got like 4 of them to the next level. I have no idea how I’m going to win in this 5 finger fillet game, my fingers aren’t fast enough on the controller to win it.
Still haven’t found any more dinosaur bones, those things are fucking impossible. Keep stumbling across dream catchers though, think I have found 7 or 8 of those. Only have found 3 of the rock carvings, and 5 of the legendary animals (bear, white buffalo, coyote, wolf, boar). No legendary fish yet.
So, think I am going along ok. Just that the dinosaur bones suck to find.
Question, for the horsemanship challenge, the first one is the ride from Valentine to Rhodes. Do I need to do anything to initiate a timer or something? Or just I just go to Valentine, then haul ass to Rhodes, and game figures it out itself?

Just go to Valentine and then haul ass. There are a few challenges like that. IIRC there one to go from Saint Denis to Strawberry too. As long as you’re in Valentine and start the ride, it’ll reward you if you get there within the goal.
You’re making good progress on the dreamcatchers. I think I had 3-4 before I completed the epilogue. Then I just spent a bunch of time riding around looking for Easter eggs and doing a couple plant challenges.
There are a couple dinosaur bones that I would never have found without talking to a buddy (who I’m pretty sure looked them up via the Google).

No – I believe that becomes available after you complete 9 master hunter challenges. I did shoot the standard panther in the same area the legendary one will be in.

I think I found my favorite place to hunt — on the trail that runs straight north of Lake Owanjila NW of Strawberry. Boars? You can get 4 perfect pelts in mere moments. Wolves? Yep. Cougars? Yep.. although they still don’t spawn enough for my tastes.. random grizzlies.. and a trapper to sell to.

I only went there for cougars (as I’m focused on getting the camp everything) and as soon as I arrived, 2 perfect wolf pelts, not long after, 4 perfect boar pelts… I could easily finish the main story at this point, but I’m just messing around getting all the side stuff done.. I already know how this ends, so no big deal.
Again, once I finally do 100% this, I’m going back and being Bad Arthur. Every choice will be max evil.
And I have to say, the Legends of the East satchel is sweet – 99 of everything lol

::On to Chapter 4, over the weekend. Also found the treasure for the poisonous trail, that was a bastard to get to. Got a few more legendary animal hunts done, and a few legendary fish. Did a few other side missions, found the serial killer, did a bounty poster mission, found some treasure chest buried on the side of a mountain. Zero fucking dinosaur bones. Thinking that the next thing I want to do is a bunch of hunting, to get perfect pelts, feathers, etc. so I can craft a bunch of stuff. I have very few perfect pelts so far, as I haven’t focused on that much.

The last half of the epilogue is rewarding.
As for the hunting, some of the hunts are really fun (the grizzly, wolf, cougar, panther). If you haven’t done those I’d recommend it.
Have you spent time with Hamish? One of my favorite stranger missions. And the photography guy to. Albert Mason I think was his name.

::A few random questions Is there something significant about these places that I’m missing, or maybe just haven’t gotten far enough in the story yet?
The house outside Van Horn that you climb in through the upstairs window with some fucked up shit inside that room.
The roadside brothel, near Van Horn, with the dead lady outside.
The culty cabin, with the bunkbeds and a bunch of skeletons that looks like a mass suicide, northwest of Emerald Ranch.
The “Tesla’s” laboratory, way at the top edge up the map, northwest of Annesburg.
Also, has anyone figured out the Panoramic Map yet? It is obviously drawn from a mountaintop, looking out over the whole map, and it looks to me like it is in the Mt. Shann area. But there is no hint as to what to look for, and it isn’t classified as a treasure map.
There is no Legendary Alligator on the legendary animals map, but there are stuff to be crafted using the Legendary Alligator. Does that show up later in the game?
Lastly, is there a better way to get bird feathers of various birds than just riding around and shooting random birds out of the sky?

::I never did any of those. Hell this is the first I am seeing anything about some of them! Every time I tried doing the Tesla one it wouldnt let me for some reason. Beauner,
[hide]I still dont like that I had to play the Epilogue as John Marston. The whole game you play as Arthur (going all Power Trip on it saying his phrases along with him!) and as weird as it sounds you get super connected to him. Marston isnt even around half the game so I dunno it just seems off. Every time I see Abigail though I say “Abi-GAIL Roberts!” in that Arthur voice though cause it makes me giggleThat said he end of the Epilogue is cool, though I should have shot Dutch too! He let Micah kill the boys and there aint no redeeming that. I assume he doesnt show up in RDR1 so yeah I should have been able to choke the life out of him.
I played Marston pretty straight through the Epilogue (he doesnt seem like the serial killer Arthur is
) Then we got to Micah’s friend in Strawberry and I hung him and literally said “FOR ARTHUR!” out loud! Now that it is over I am going to have him killing some more since I am guess in RDR1 he is not the nicest man in the world. Plus if you had to shovel cattle crap on a farm you would murder Lemoyne Raiders too!)[/hide] In non-spoiler stuff, is it just me or as you get closer to the end does it not seem the weather takes a turn for the worst? I swear every 12 seconds it is raining no matter where you go. Gets even worse in the Epilogue and after the Epilogue. Friggin monsoons out there riding around!

Bird feathers: no not really. Depending on which birds you’re looking for there are some spots I can recommend, but generally speaking, if you’re just looking for feathers to craft stuff, no. If you’re in need of specific feathers, yes there are areas where certain birds are prone to spawn.
Legendary Gator shows up in chapter 4 IIRC. You’re first introduced to him during a main story mission.
The Tesla-style lab is something you’re introduced to first by a stranger mission in Saint Denis.
The roadside brothel, as far as I can tell, just gives you a little statue which you can sell for $ if you want.
The Van Horn house, assuming it’s the one I think you’re talking about, is just a random Easter egg house.
If you’re in the culty cabin late at night sometimes you’ll be treated to a surprise if you have gone to the top of Mt. Shann as the little letter says.
As for the panoramic map: no idea. I spent a lot of time trying to piece things together and couldn’t find anything major. Even resorted to looking online to sooth my mind and nobody on there could find anything either.

I never did any of those. Hell this is the first I am seeing anything about some of them! Every time I tried doing the Tesla one it wouldnt let me for some reason.Beauner,
[hide]I still dont like that I had to play the Epilogue as John Marston.

[hide]I’m pretty sure that in RDR1 the Pinkerton agents (Ross and the other guy, I forgot his name) use Abigail and Jack as leverage and force John into hunting down the surviving members of his gang to spare their lives. Including Dutch.
[/hide] As for weather: yes it definitely seems worse in the epilogue.

::Getting close to giving up. It is fucking impossible to get a woodpecker. I have googled how to do it, and I can’t find one. The instructions all say to use dead eye, but I can’t get it to work. I never use dead eye, because it makes it even harder to kill something, IMO. It won’t auto-aim for me on dead eye, and I can’t keep a bead on a flying bird manually. Beauner

Those and the robins were a massive pain in the ass.The woodpecker is found technically all over the map on the westside of new Hanover and all up and down Rhodes and annesburg. You gotta use binoculars to identify them before they take flight though.
Fort Brennan is where I found a few of those little birds. That or by Downes Ranch.
Go in the fort, walk up on the ramparts, use your binoculars to identify them. Then take out your small game arrow, deadeye, right bumper (or R1 if PS4) to tag it. Then shoot. If you tag them you automatically track it even if it’s in flight.

I’m trying to play GTA V… driving is friggin hard to the point I get annoyed fast and either quit or go on killing sprees. I dont know if it will ever grab me like Red Dead did.
This is precisely why I only made it through about half of that game (GTA V). I’d be driving along and then get in an accident and then get annoyed and go into a rampage. It was supremely frustrating. A slight twitch left or right and all of a sudden you’re flipping your car into oncoming traffic or rolling it into a building.
The characters were great and all, but I didn’t have the patience to put up with all the people driving and stopping in the middle of the road, or the hypersensitive driving controls.
I wonder if I would be able to now.

What do you mean by “tag it?” When I do dead eye, I aim (left trigger), then press down on both joysticks to enter dead eye, then track to the highlighted kill area using the joystick, and when there, hit the right trigger to shoot. Is that not correct?Beauner

If your sights are on/near an enemy or animal target in deadeye you can “tag” your target with the right bumper/R1. If the animal (or enemy) begins to move before your shot your aim will follow along with their movements. Makes getting a clean kill much easier. Especially with a bow and arrow.

Ok. I didn’t know that this could be done. Helpful.
Though, I have still never even seen a woodpecker and I’ve looked for about 8 hours, so I have other issues.
