Getting a new battery is cheap and significantly improved mine.

I hate upgrading to a new phone, so I just replaced the battery last time. I bought the battery on Amazon for about 20 bucks and did it myself. Phone manufacturers don’t make it easy to replace the battery, so it’s kind of like performing surgery. I think a small tool kit and pry bars were included. Probably took me 30 minutes or so, but it worked great once I got the new battery installed.

I look at it as, no one is getting a free ride. And with everyone paying in their equal portion, everyone is getting a better deal for themselves.

I agree and I am certainly not judging how anyone chooses to address situations like phones or car insurance with their kids.

Heck, YE is on here so it’s obvious I failed at the “not raising an a-hole part…..” :D

After getting Spam Risk calls, they stopped for the longest time. No here in the last month they picked back up…

    Spam Risk

    Saint Cloud, MN

    Spam Risk

    Red Wing, MN

And today, both time they left a “butt dial” type msg. of nothing for over a minute.

My Pixel 6 can screen spam calls which is nice so I don’t even see it pop up.

I was on my parents for quite some time, but it made sense as the as bill split three ways was cheaper for everyone than having two plans, one with two phones and another with one. I paid my third. Eventually a much better deal through a different provider presented itself to my wife and me, along with her sister’s family. So, I made the switch. My parents are adults and can pay their own way.

Why would they even make bathroom sinks without overflow drains, let alone someone installing them in their bathrooms?!?!?! Both the bathroom in our basement and master bath have sinks without overflow drains. Just adds to my project list that feels like one step forward, two steps back.

Twice in the last week I was walking into a store behind a Boomer age person who stopped directly in the entrance door with their cart and blocked the whole thing. What makes it crappier is they are the biggest offenders for complaining about younger generations but they’re usually the worst.

I don’t think any generation has a monopoly on being unaware of their surroundings.

Yeah. Found a chest full of cancer yesterday and he gave up on his walk today. It was sudden, unexpected and the hardest thing we’ve had to do to look your dog in the eye while he wags his tail at you and know in an hour he will be gone. But we chose to say goodbye before anything more emergent happened so he didn’t suffer.

Hockey games won’t be the same when we score and nobody comes running to give a high five and get a treat. We taught him that last year when we played ASU…he got 20 treats that weekend I think. 😂

So sorry to hear that. Losing a dog is a brutal kind of pain.

We lost a dog to cancer a few years ago and it still hurts.

Cowgirl so sorry to hear about your fur baby. I am an emotional person, kids and dogs make me tear up in an instant. Having to say goodbye with that amount of time is unfathomable for me, at this point in my life I haven’t had to do it that quickly.

One bit of advice I have received on this planet about pets is that we hold onto them longer than we should because of how we want to feel without regard for how they feel. Sounds like you did the right thing for your pooch.

Thank you for the kind words. I’ve reminded many a client that you would rather be a week too early than a day too late when saying goodbye to a pet, but somehow when it’s your own those words don’t really bring much comfort and you still second guess if you could or should have eked out one more night.

Why in the Twin Cities when there is a car accident and a light pole or stop light gets knocked down and needs to be replaced they replace the knocked out of service item with a new one but they leave the damaged item on the ground for months for someone else to remove the broken item, I have seen multiple damaged items left on the highway on the right side of road out of traffic but left for months for someone else to pick up

Since the pandemic began we’ve been ordering a lot of stuff from WalMart.com and we always buy $35 worth so we get free shipping. It drives us nuts the way they spread out the delivery. Today FedEx brought us one can of Cream of Chicken soup. I don’t know how a company can provide free shipping while sending FedEx out here to the middle of nowhere with a can of soup.

Target does this all the time. It’s become a joke to see how small of items we get in these massive boxes

Yep, third party ordering, etc. I build lists before I order from Amazon, but I also don’t really care when I get those items, as long as shipping is free. If I need something THAT bad, I’ll go to a brick-n-mortar.

Amazon willingly takes a loss on a lot of items. It’s a proven model because Prime members spend infinitely more and their losses on shipping are more than made up for by total sales revenues.

              It’s definitely true for me.

Yesterday I purchased a slide to digital converter at 9 am and it was at my door by 2 pm. Didn’t even have to put pants on.

Can’t be too careful! I have to watch videos like that too. I work from home and the workplace harassment one makes me laugh. My kids harass me in the workplace, but HR (my wife) blames me for it. Seems legit.

Ha, you beat me to the harassment joke. The only “Armed Attack” I worry about in my home office was when my cat sat on my keyboard. Or maybe THAT’S harassment? The little :censored: did have a smug look on their face.

I remember that before the pandemic, we would have regular conference calls (no video) and a dog barking in the background was a cardinal sin (happened to me once and got shit for years) and now when a dog comes into the frame or kids are in the background, everyone seems excited to have a break from the norm.

Not so weird. Before Covid companies acted like conferences from home were exactly like being at work. You’d never have an animal or kid in evidence, people dressed as if still in the office, etc. Now Zoom is boring and routine, a dog or a kid interruption is the equivalent of the coffee break

My friend has a fish tank behind him, people go nuts and want him to let them see closer. He jokes it’s the same damn tank he USED to have in his office and nobody payed any attention.

Agreed that it is different now. Before on the extremely rare occasion I worked from home people would roll their eyes at a dog or child interrupting. Now they’re all about it. “Oooooh who’s that?! Lemme seee!”

Best thing I ever did for my video calls was take them in my shop with my wall of antique tools behind me. It’s a topic of conversation on calls that I am not regularly on. People get a kick out of it.

I did an interview this past summer and my boss (who used to get upset about dogs barking) told me I needed to be have a more professional background that wasn’t the focus of the call. The HR manager told me as soon as I got on it that it just didn’t feel right because the boring background wasn’t me.

While I love the technology and less seriousness COVID has brought us, the folks that demand cameras be on are tough for me to swallow.

I have no idea how the service manager there has a job. Zero people skills and just a complete lack of anything. We ended up having to get it towed from their service center to a ford dealership in Duluth to finally get the needed repairs done, which were under warranty. It took a total of 10 months, all the while we were paying on a vehicle we did not have in our possession. What a mess. Never again.

Sorry to hear about your ghastly service problem with Sonju. As far as purchasing used cars from Sonju, my Dad bought a 2004 Cadillac Deville North Star edition from Sonju back in 2005, and albeit my parents didn’t drive it that much for many years, but it still runs just fine TODAY. Cars are like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re going to get.

I hope you got some videos/pictures but I imagine if they did it in the first place they aren’t going to care about fixing it.

Probably a disgruntled employee. We once had an Amazon deliverer climb on top the hood of our truck sitting in front of our house so they could take the picture of the package they threw in front of the garage. Thankfully it was an old beat up pickup, Amazon didn’t seem too concerned.

Leaving a review online doesn’t require social media and definitely gets a company’s attention.

With Amazon though, your issue may get drowned out by volume of reviews.

We were vacationing on Roatan, off Honduras on a beautiful snorkeling bay. It was popular with cruise ship day trippers so we were sitting on our deck having lunch. Suddenly this woman starts screaming “JELLYFISH! JELLYFISH!” and thrashing around like a nutcase. A local guy standing there slowly picks up the “jellyfish” and says “Calm down lady, it’s a plastic bag”. My husband started laughing so hard he almost choked on his sandwich. She got all pissy and embarrassed, stormed out the water and stomped off to the bar.

When YoungEagle was around 5-6 we were on Hilton Head for an extended family vacation.

We were playing catch with a tennis ball in the shallow surf when YE drops down for a nice Kent Tekulve pitch and starts screaming in pain right after he throws the ball.

What the hell is wrong with you says his ever-so-sensitive dad?

Turns out he skimmed his hand across about some Jellyfish and his hand blew up with some significant swelling.

Luckily one of our extended family (at the time) was a physician so he was able to treat right away and get YE a prescription to help with the pain and swelling. He still has some faint scars on his hand.

One of my many ‘dad of the year’ moments!
