Whoa the housing is great. Locally or where is it?
Yes it will be at their Plymouth location. I was really floored by the offer especially for a first year student. I don’t think I knew anyone when I was that age getting something like that.
Yeah a freshman Roland housing provided for someone local. What are they working in? Like what’s their degree?
He’s in engineering and per the offer letter: “
We are pleased to offer you the position of Summer Associate-Minnesota Medical Device. We will placeyou with our Electrophysiology Operations team (EP Ops)
“. @davescharf I believe it’s located on Nathan Lane if that’s the same one you’re referring to.
His brother will attend UM School of Biological sciences in the fall and is already telling the elder to find him connections.

I just finished the most recent John Sanford “Prey” book; Ocean Prey. I’ve now read the entire series, or at least so far. Now I’ve started his Virgil Flowers series. Flowers is a minor character in the Prey books, a small town Southern Minnesota police officer. All through the Prey series the repeating comment by scores of other characters is “ that f’ing Flowers”. It’s a mantra. I’m looking forward to more of a deep dive into him.
I’d started reading the Virgil Flowers books before he started appearing in the Prey series. I’m up to either # 22 or #23 of the Prey series now so it’s less of an issue, but I’ve enjoyed that angle of the stories taking place in small-town MN.
We need to resurrect the Books thread at some point. I’m starting to be in need of some new things to read again outside of the Mitch Rapp, Scot Harvath, Gabriel Allon type stuff.
Have you tried the Allen Eskens books? He’s a relatively new MN author. I met him at a discussion of his first book “The Life We Bury.” Interesting guy. His stories are mystery/human interest and take place in MN. He’s up to six books now.
I just put a hold on The Life We Bury on the Henn Lib app. Should be available in about 2 weeks. Thanks again for the recommendation.davescharf

My uncle is/was too at the time. I haven’t watched it in years in part because every episode seems the same with the vowel buying

I did like that show. Not sure why, but I did. I think…Harry was the judges name I believe and I liked him. Maybe that’s why.
It was silly sitcom fun. John Laroquette was awesome in it.
And Markie didn’t show up until season 2, and even then it was spotty. I think she was permanent starting in season 3.

I flew into Newark JUST after Obama arrived for a quick speech. Our flight was delayed as they diverted all air traffic from the airport while Air Force One landed. We finally get on the ground and park just across from AF1. I get into my rental car and hit complete gridlock, just outside the airport because they blocked traffic for Obama’s motorcade, which is now returning from said speech (it was that quick).
Just as the motorcade passes by on the opposite side of the freeway, two ospreys take off from just behind the fence next to my car. The sudden volume of noise scared the crap out of me. They took off fast in helicopter mode and quickly transitioned into airplane mode.
It was super bad ass.

Then you must use chicken at least once in a sentence every time tou see him. Much easier than the ‘meow’ challenge.

No. But I started the bounty. I put up the first $20 for the person who was able to get the head off the chicken. And several others added to the pot.
A few groups went to collect the head. One group eventually got to him and tried to tear it off. It was firmly strapped on and the chicken fought back hard and got some good licks in. He was a former marine with combat experience. Fists were thrown. People were kicked out.
It made for quite a story then, and again tonight when we made the connection.

Many, many, many years ago when I was training a new janitor the kid thought he had cleaned the bathroom. Told him to go into each stall and get down to eye level as if you were doing your bidness and then tell me if you still think it’s clean. Ahhhh……maybe not….

They usually notice anything and everything, to be honest. Between being told to look for anything like that, and customer’s feedback on things, they run a tight ship.

A couple years ago OC Roseville asked me to fix part of the countertop at the end of the bar. I told them it would be a band aid fix. Cause the previous person who attempted to fix it, did not damage then good. In all reality they need a new counter top on that end of the bar. Though it was cheaper for me to band aid fix it. It’s interesting during the pre pandemic days and years when I was a regular at OC and drank how much stuff I noticed that goes and went unfixed. I would fix little things from time to time for them. And wouldn’t expect anything in return. Though I was comped more times than not for helping out. Personally I think some customers just complain and nit pick just because they have nothing better to do. And they wouldn’t do the same if it was theirs.Greyeagle

We don’t have room for a king even though we’d love it, one reason I adore staying at hotels! But another marital bed tip, each of you gets a separate blanket or duvet. I learned this in Europe, there’s always 2 separate duvets on a shared bed. Not having to wrestle coverings has saved many a night

We also went with the split king adjustable sleep number. Love it and know we’re spoiled. When we share a normal bed in a hotel we wake each other up if we turn over.
