So we had the Big Ten Alumni Council of San Antonio’s annual golf tourney today…

It was held at a really, really nice course in the northeastern suburbs of San Antonio. This place had a very strict dress code – very nice facilities…real high end place. Here’s a photo of the teams getting ready for the shotgun start (please excuse the quality – I only had my phone). The folks in red are from tOSU and the guy in blue is from Penn State.

So, I’m not a golfer…sort of Happy Gilmore with no talent. That said, I didn’t play. The U of Iowa chapter president and I were tagged to serve as judges on the 13th hole – where a hole in one would get whomever shot it a super high-end custom golf cart. We’re sitting on the 13th just off the green when one of the U of Wisconsin teams comes through. Let’s just say the UW alum broke some new and special ground in the attire category at this upscale course:

Granted, it’s a poor picture…so I’ll describe it. The second guy from the left is wearing flannel pants with Packers logos all over them…and a Bucky t-shirt. Mind you, it was 90 degrees at the time.

On another note, the game against Ohio State was not homecoming, just a home game. Their homecoming is 10/25 vs. Illinois. They must have been worried about the Minnesota game… :lol:

Sad custody case of a 7 year old

Green Bay, WI 11/25/08 (AP) – A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Green Bay courtroom drama today when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Green Bay Packers, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.
