You guys must not spend much time in SW Minnesota – all those places you mentioned are idyllic country escapes compared to say Marshall, Jackson, Luverne.

I try not to. I’ve had projects there and get in and out as quick as possible.

Industrial agriculture – you gotta love it if you live there. Smells like money.

Where does one acquire a cannon? Also you have to look at the usage of bowling balls as nothing short of resourceful.

That final entry in the article is hilarious:

She suspected the fatal injury was caused by a flying bowling ball, though she “knew there was no way to prove that a bowling ball or pin hit the horse causing it to die,” the complaint states. No bowling balls or pins were found near the horse, which was valued at about $10,000.

And the fact he was knowledgeable about firearms, but had no clue that it could reach neighbors’ properties….YOU CANNOT MAKE IT UP.

With the dead horse its almost like a spoof on the Godfather..

I have a relative who works for A Basin ski resort in CO and they were upgrading their avalanche control systems for a period of I believe like two years. So they gave him and I’m not kidding a howitzer to fire into the mountains and blast the living :censored: out of the snow causing a safe avalanche. He showed me one of the shells and it was honest to god close to 24 inches long and probably about 10 in diameter. He said it was so much fun, and sad to have to give it up for the new system which is apparently quite boring.

Shooting avalanches? Yeah, that’s common. Insane, but common.

Nice call on the Godfather reference. DX would probably miss that reference. :D

Who cares? He wouldn’t get that reference because he misses references, hence the bit of “DX Wouldn’t Get That Reference” bit. 3 times in one sentence. Eat it, Armadillo [name redacted]

Imagine what you’d need to cause a controlled rock slide on some of those mountain roads in CO…that would probably be a blast too. I remember them closing a major highway just outside of Colorado Springs for a day just to do that because they were worried about rock slides

First I spit my ice tea laughing. Let’s just say when I saw prostitution and chicken coop together I thought it was going in a different direction

Then I read 27 years old with SIX kids! Holy Hannah, she has issues on top of issues.

                            True story:
A buddy who went to Stout got drunk at a bar one night (shocker, I know) and decided to walk home with his beer. Stopped by the police, for open bottle.
Buddy: There’s no way I’m getting out of this ticket, am I?
                            Cop: Nope.
Buddy: Can I at least finish my beer while you write the ticket?
Cop: (looks over to partner, partner shrugs and nods) Sure.

Buddy proceeds to slam beer while cop writes ticket. Apparently many heads were turned looking at this sight.

Quote my buddy: Most expensive beer I ever had….

Can’t think of a better thread to put this in but last night on our way home we were just west of Madison when three cars pass my wife going at least 90mph.

The third car was a little behind the other two, but drove up hard in the left lane on a car in front of him and maybe 50 yards in front of us a lane over. I’m still not sure how the guy didn’t just drive straight into the back of him but he managed not to and in the process of swerving into the shoulder tagged a concrete wall on the side at about 40-50mph. Fortunately the car didn’t cross back into traffic because he’d have taken out a few cars (including us) and a semi.

My wife and I were discussing it after I called in the accident and she asked me if thought the guy was drunk and who would be drunk at 8pm. I had to remind her where we were and that he may have been off somewhere to find a deer given they beat LSU.

I was driving this evening and couldn’t get a pic but saw a gigantic “Scottie Ard for State Assembly” sign about five feet away from an equally gigantic “Rob Stafsholt for State Assembly” sign.

Ard is a (D). Stafsholt is a (R). The sign was in the same rural yard in St Croix County – no other home within a half mile of this place.

What’s the problem, you ask? Well…for starters, they’re candidates for the exact same seat in the Assembly.

I have one of those on my block – a rental. Owner had a sign put up. Renter also had a sign put up. Hotly contested race for the same seat. I laughed and asked the wife if the renter’s guy wins does the landlord evict him?

Saw funny statistics on that from Bloomberg… people frequently don’t even know who the other is really voting for. Example…

Polls asked guys who they will vote for then ask them same question who wife will vote for… results something like this…

They will vote 55% for candidate A and 50% believe wife will vote for candidate A…

                                        Then ask wives same question…

Only 35% say they will vote for candidate A and 40% believe husband will vote for candidate A.

Explains why there aren’t more divorces in hotly contested election years like this – they don’t even know who the other really supports!

I gave my wife crap about this once driving into town… her reply was there wasn’t THAT much drinking in Racine… so I started counting bars on the way to her house from the interstate on in… she lived over by the zoo. I counted 35 before she told me to stop and I was only halfway there. Most of them only had one or two cars in the parking lot – meaning those few people were drinking enough to keep the places open. That was about all I needed to know about alcohol consumption in Racine.

Oh – and my guess is a few of those WI towns would rate even higher if they could somehow count all the drinking people did alone. Off the record so to speak. Say in their office at work. Or driving home. It was shocking to me [and I am not that much of a prude] to learn how many of the people I worked with over there did that and didn’t see it odd at all.

ask your wife about the Douglas Avenue Death March and see if she has ever attempted it. You start on Douglas Ave and 6 Mile (I grew up on 6 Mile right by Beechnut Dr) and work your way all the way down Douglas Ave having one drink at each bar until you get to downtown Racine.

Will do. I have a picture of her cousin walking around that area one night with a 25 pound salmon he caught way earlier in the day. Had a cigarette in the salmons mouth in the photo – they were both lit up pretty good. Gotta love Racine.

Ard is a (D). Stafsholt is a (R). The sign was in the same rural yard in St Croix County – no other home within a half mile of this place.

What’s the problem, you ask? Well…for starters, they’re candidates for the exact same seat in the Assembly.

My mom is rather neutral, will vote for best candidate.
My dad makes (made) Paul Wellstone look like Rush Limbaugh.

I don’t know but I did a lot of them – my kids were young and wife’s parents still lived there along with aunts uncles cousins. I used to watch the boats come in with my kids and then later the adults all went to the bars – it was a blast. When her parents retired they sold their house and went up north near Rhinelander to a winterized cabin. We don’t get back to Racine as often. I stop from time to time on trips back from Chicago – mostly to get kringle. Racine is an odd and bit rough blue collar town but I actually like it – then again my elementary years were spent in Buffalo and I liked that too. So take with grain of salt.

Moschel said he’s lucky to be alive and so is the man who stabbed him. “Luckily, I didn’t have my concealed carry on me at the time,” Moschel said. “Ninety-nine percent of the time I leave the house, I never leave without it. And this is the one time I did. I’m kind of glad I did, because he would have been dead, and I would have had to live with that.“

Next time you stop for kringle go over by Horlick (my old school) and get a sandwich from sausage kitchen for the drive home.

Will do – my wife is a Horlick grad too. Grew up on Williams St.

So if was a noose around a white president, that’s not automatically racist? That’s my question. NOT ruling out racism here, but not automatically ruling it a factor, either. I see a noose around a president (honestly). Not a black person. I don’t see color, and that’s the truth.
