I don’t understand (nor will I ever) the need for a journalist to take the time to write a story like this. I mean, at what point during the interview with the guy do you stop and say “Is this what I am doing with my life?”

Towed? Not really a Wisco joke here but amazes me they can’t and don’t make temp fixes at sea… WTF would they do in battle – just stop? Compare that with the carrier USS Yorktown in WWII – hammered at the Battle of Coral Sea near Australia [direct hit by a bomb that blew up below deck] then limped back across the Pacific for repairs – expected to take three months but instead was in battle less than a month later at Midway [where it was finally sunk].

Yes I know the ships of that day were simple yet robust but still the fact this super advanced modern ship had to be towed because of debris in the filters disturbs me.

To be fair to the WIAA, they weren’t actually banning the cheers and that was just a sportsmanship reminder email, but man did they open themselves up for ridicule.
