For someone who has dealt with id theft, I have no sympathy. Plus, what is more frustrating, is the punishment for crimes like this is not enough.

It’s a pretty nice promotion, but she’s literally scared because of all of the headlines that come from there. Regardless, I think it’s hilarious.

I have a brother and sister that are recovering alcoholics and they even agree that it’s best not to make the liquor store a “mysterious” place.
We have also allowed our kids to have a beer or glass of wine with us when in Wisconsin restaurants. For some reason this country has always made drinking an exotic big deal. I’d rather my kids learn that drinking in moderation is no big deal what so ever. It’s one of the few things I think we could learn from some european countries.

Well said. I’ve never understood the wisdom in suddenly foisting an intoxicant on people on an arbitrary date (21st birthday) with NO preparation or education whatsoever. On the flip side of that coin, I’ve also never understood why a 19 or 20-year-old having a beer is seen by many as some sort of horrific crisis. They can handle driving, voting, and serving in a foreign war, but a glass of wine is beyond their abilities. Or something.

The building code states that in church pews, an occupant load of 1 person per 16″ of pew shall be assigned to the sanctuary. My dad went into the building plan review with the opinion that “Wisconsin butts are at least 2 feet wide” and the plan reviewer totally agreed! So, the posted occupant load is actually 1/3 less than required by the building code, because it assumes 24″ per person

I’m surprised this isn’t making bigger headlines out here – the state supreme court election went to a recount, and Justice Prosser was ultimately elected via a very narrow margin (especially considering the comparatively low voter turnout in Spring Elections). Given the political climate the last 6 months in Wisconsin, people have been very quick to call for heads to roll… I would think they’d jump on this.

The usual crowd did jump on it, until it came to light that the supposed choking happened in an office in front of other supreme court justices who said Bradley got mad and ran at Prosser and his hands touched her neck when he put up his arms to avoid getting hit in the face. My gut tells me it was a set-up, but a poorly thought out one, because even if Prosser is let go (or more likely Bradley, or slightly possible that both of them go), Walker gets to pick the replacements. The balance of the court would either stay the same or increase to a 5-2 advantage for justices that actually apply the laws instead of trying to make the laws.

The funny part is that the dems will most likely lose one of those races next week, giving them a net gain of one senate seat. The regular elections are next year, so in essence all this money (30+ million dollars) has been spent to rent one seat that won’t even matter (18-15 may as well be 19-14) for one year. What a colossal waste of time and money.
Some of the really rabid supporters are advocating the recall of every republican as soon as they become eligible, because hey, why the heck not? Guys, I don’t think that’s the intended point of a recall. We might as well just have yearly elections ( and nonstop campaigning) if that’s your plan. We’ve got some interesting folks in my home state.
