Won’t be cheering for the Avalanche, but it is nice to see Ranta making a good impression and being rewarded for it.

Ryan Donato will be the answer to a future trivia question. First Kraken goal.

Kenny Albert & Eddie Olychuk on TNT will be a better announcing team than ESPN ran out last night. I wasn’t fond of Will McDonoughs sons play by play call. Hopefully I’ll adjust to it, but thought his call & tone fell really flat. Also I thought ESPN overdid some of the alternative camera angles…I don’t like camera shots that are significantly smaller images than the normal center ice angle.

That was pretty funny and probably the only time in Wayne’s career his teammates didn’t rush in to protect him. Broten didn’t want to go and even laid off him.

Is this Gretzky’s only NHL fight?

Was Landeskog ejected ? If not, what do you need to do to get ejected in the NHL?

2 for boarding, 2 for roughing. He went straight to the locker room because there was less than 4 minutes left.

That’s absolutely ridiculous. Unfortunately this likely won’t change the rules (or the referee calling the rules properly) until an NHL player is injured similar to Jack Jablonski. And even if that happens, it may not change. Just sad.

Since that department is a joke, I am sure the fine/suspension will be a joke.

And, I was right. 2 Games for trying to destroy a mans skull.

Player safety is such a joke in this league and as much as I enjoy playoff hockey it’s always tainted by horrific reffing.

Landeskog got a 2 game suspension. Honestly I’m impressed, in my mind that’s about right.

I agree. Wouldn’t have been upset with 5. Assumed he’d get a fine so I was pleasantly surprised, because they generally don’t give suspensions unless the player is injured (which I don’t agree with). But 🤷‍♂️

Honestly if feels like hits like that in the past got away with 1 game or no suspension at all. This is hopefully a step in the right direction. However as dx somewhat noted earlier if they don’t do the same in the playoffs we will still feel dirty again.

Scrolled back a bit and didn’t see a post. JT Brown played high school at Rosemount, college at UMD, had an NHL career which included the Wild is the tv color announcer for the Seattle Kraken. He teamed up with John Forslund.

Dead spin just published an article on the Chicago Blackhawks who knew what/when. Kyle Beach came forward as the Jon Doe in the report who was assaulted and the team did nothing. Hawks reputation just gets worse, Kane already got away with assault and more, Deadspin article puts a lot of blame on Toews for being the Captain and being complicit. Coverup from the start.

    Maybe apple and oranges…

This sexual assault stuff is so mind boggling. I know funny stuff and bantering happens in locker rooms, always has. Though these news stories from Proctor Football to the Chicago Blackhawks is so out of control. I just don’t get it. I know some stuff that was overlooked in the 80s and 90s isn’t so overlooked in 2021. Though these headline stories now would have been headline stories in the 80s and 90s if they weren’t swept under the rug and overlooked.

Per a recent Garry Bettman statement: “Kevin Cheveldayoff was not a member of [Chicago’s] senior leadership team in 2010, and I cannot, therefore, assign to him responsibility for the club’s actions, or inactions. He provided a full account of his degree of involvement in the matter, which was limited exclusively to his attendance at a single meeting, and I found him to be extremely forthcoming and credible in our discussion.”

Caufield (#74) is going to head to the 4th line or worse pretty soon. Looks like he played 12 minutes yesterday and kept steady with his one point this year. I think the list might have him a little high. I think I would rather have every college player below him on the list right now. Maybe not for the future but at this moment.

And Buffalo management wouldn’t agree to the type of surgery he preferred (artificial disc replacement) instead of disc fusion surgery. The team had final say on this & LV is OK with the disc replacement surgery.

I’m not convinced he will be a top 5-10 center when and if he comes back from this surgery that was so mysteriously delayed.

It was delayed because he wanted out of Buffalo.

It was delayed because Buffalo wanted him to have a more common procedure in contrast to the one him and his doctor preferred.

    Edit: What bearpaw said :)

It can be both, he clearly wanted out of Buffalo and this was one way to force their hand. If I remember correctly fusion is what Peyton Manning did and it had some serious risks involved. Also sounds like replacement is the better option anyhow from a mobility standpoint.

Cole Sillinger went straight from the USHL (non NTDP) to the Show. Not sure that has ever happened before or at least in 20+ years.

And now he’s staying up with the big club. Wild.

Saddest part of Eichel/Sabres not doing this earlier is that he most likely won’t be healthy in time for the Olympics.

Cannot wait to see the Tkachuk tick off anyone that plays the US. Would be real fun to see them on a line together.

True, could really use him for the Olympics.

It was a one on four reverse power-play for him.

That’s the type of play you get when you play NHL on rookie mode and turn your player settings to max and the AI settings to 1.

    He’s absolutely insane.

His answer when questioned about it is nearly as good as the play itself…
