::If there’s ever a team that can come back and make this a series it’s Tampa but this is clearly the best team they’ve played so far. I guess we’ll see if not playing at altitude makes a difference, which it probably will just going from experience (I remember biking like two miles first time I went to Denver and feeling winded lol). Typically TB’s defense is much tighter than this and Vasilevsky doesn’t have nearly as much to do (though he hasn’t been great either) but they def have their hands full. Guessing TB wins tonight but obviously wouldn’t be shocked if not.

::Tonight is where the ⚡️have to make their stand, like game 3 vs the Rangers, it doesn’t need to be pretty, but they must find a way to gut out a win and stop the run Avs are on…they are feeding off tremendous confidence & momentum right now & appear unstoppable.

I would like to see this and Tampa come back and win the Cup just to shut up the Avs. fan. The Avs. fan base is becoming close to UND/wisconSIN annoying levels. They still have a way to go, but close… LoL!!!

::I think tonight’s result will ultimately determine the Stanley Cup winner. If Tampa wins its 2-2 and they have ALL the momentum. If Avs win they are up 3-1 and have a stranglehold on the series, only needing one more win. Should be a tremendous game tonight!

Was this an actual ceremony where players attended? If so it would seem rude not to include players still playing…
and do these awards only encompass regular season play only?
It was held in Tampa, (rather than Vegas) so Makar & Hedman attended. Got to remember the planned Olympic break pushed the overall calendar back by 2 weeks.

::gator wrote…Was excited to watch the NHL Awards show last night… only to find out I don’t get CBS Sports on Direct TV.
I wonder if it is part of the sports package. I get it on 221, along with FS1 on 219, but I get the sports package with all of the regional sports stations and BTN, SEC TV etc.

I’ll have to check again tonight when I’m home. Cause I know I get the BTN and SEC TV and I’m pretty sure I have FS1 as well. Might’ve deleted it accidently when I was thinning out all the channels that I don’t want.

::Don’t ruin the fun!
But seriously…..
I love the refs looking at a puck thats literaly stuck in the net trying to figure out if there was a goal pic.twitter.com/tlDzS9ixq3

::Avs playing like the better team but still got a little lucky to win both OT games. Was hoping for a 7 game series but now thinking it stops at 5. Former Wild player with a big goal and head case Keumper looks to have his name engraved on the cup…unreal he’s the same guy who played for Minnesota.

Almost impossible to win a best of seven series when you lose 2 games in OT. But the Lightning won’t lay down and beating them a 4th time won’t be easy! I’d like to see the ⚡️extend the series to Sunday night.

::frozen4champs wrote…I like Sean McDonough as a PxP guy, but he has had a few misses on his goal calls this playoff season. It seems that he credits the wrong player with a goal at least once a game. I can’t blame him for the OT winner last night though. I miss Doc calling the games.
Sean is a solid play by play guy, but his inexperience calling hockey games is obvious. The TNT booth & studio teams are much better than the ESPN crews.

::Just watched a breakdown of the game winning goal last night and there was a pretty obvious too many men on COL. Kadri came on and took the puck long before McKinnon got off the ice. It’s not really even close. The NHL is calling it a judgement call to save face.
Bednar claiming the Lightning had 7 players on the ice at the same time is laughable. The 2 extra players were standing next to the bench and they obviously never touched the puck.
Karlsson
::Disagree. That happens all game long and MacKinnon had nothing to do with the play. The numerous CFBs that were ignored late are far more concerning. You know, aside from the referees somehow not seeing the puck staring them in the face as they congregated around the net to discuss whether or not it was a goal.

::That was as bad of a missed too many men penalty as you will find. Mackinnon is 60 feet from the bench when Kadri enters the play, and is still 30 feet from the bench when Kadri picks up the puck.
Kadri jumps on the ice, skates to the middle, receives a pass, takes 6 strides up ice, and still has to hesitate at the blueline because the guy he changed for is still in the offensive zone.

::Bigbeer wrote…Impressive game for Kuemper and a great return for Kadri with the OT winner. Tampa ran out of gas about 10 min into OT.
I know in college hockey if the goalie loses his mask the refs stop the game right away, Kuemper lost his mask 30 seconds into the last game and Tampa scored,

Gotta agree that your basis assertion that NHL officiating is essentially God Awful was certainly validated by this play & non-call. If what you described above is/was even 50% accurate, a minor penalty should have been called. And I think what you described above is closer to 100% accurate. But…the series isn’t over until somebody gets a 4th win & the Lightning will battle with every bit of energy they can extract, hoping for an exciting game tonight!

The NHL rule gives the officials the discretion to let the play continue if the offensive team has an imminent scoring chance. IMO- they got that one right

::I still had the frozen four games on the dvr. Was watching the end of the championship game and Bucci mentioned the only time the college/NHL teams have both won their respective championships in the same year was Boston (BU) and the Bruins in 1972.
I think that’s a good record to let stand. 😬

::Welp, I can think of two players who are happy they left the Ofer Stanley Cup state of Minnesota. I still can’t wrap my head around Kuemper on the Cup, but then again they hardly needed him tonight.
Perry lost 2 consecutive Cups to Tampa, joins them, and then loses again.
Tampa just not fast enough and even the great Vasilesky couldn’t save them.

True.. but Corey Perry won a Stanley Cup early in his career playing for Anaheim…so these last 3 years, while ending bittersweet…have still been one hell of a ride for him! 👍

::Congrats to EJ and the rest of the Avs, the way they shut down Tampa in the third was impressive. Jack Johnson winning a cup is pretty funny, his game leaves a lot to be desired but anyone who knows his story knows he’s dealt with his share of drama behind the scenes and so it’s hard not to be happy for him. I got nothing against Tampa and cheered for them in the last two but good to see a different team win it.

Great series! Colorado deserved it! They’re the NEW Champs! Happy for Kuemper! Happy for Cogliato! Happy for EJ! Must be a bit surreal for Ben Meyers, signing with the Avs & getting to play a few games, wasn’t playoff eligible, but part of the organization.

And that’s a new band. With the new band starting in 2018 and won’t move to row 2 till 2031 and retiring the band with 1965-66 thru 1977-78 winners.
And poof! All evidence of Toronna’s last cup disappears!
