::Sorenson has played 92 college games, Perbix 95 games. replacing them with Lucius and Warner that have played 12 games combined this year doesn’t make sense to me. If Cruz returns from injury like Chaz did and you see him solidly in top 9 I’m all for bringing him in. If not, I think USHL and getting lots of games and top line minutes is best for him.

Speculative lucius fallout with Bob pushing Cruz back a year doesn’t make sense to me. My incoming rankings would go Cooley, Knurth, Cruz, pinoniemi, strobel, Warner, John mittelstedt. Guys like Sorenson, Schmidt, perbix may have to transfer out to make room.
Hey, put a little respect on JMs name here!! Not sure if he is for sure coming or not, but his .5 PPG in the USHL is infinitely better than Warner with his what 4 games played in the NAHL and then hanging them up? Strobel who has a .5 PPG in inferior league (BCHL) and who was brought in at the expense of Joe Miller (who has over a PPG in USHL) because of his narrative (state tourney, uncle etc, promises to MSHSL coaches association).
Cooley, Snuggerud, Kurth, Cruz, Pino, Mittlestadt…..Strobel……………..

Forgot about Snuggerud, hopefully there’s no fallout and we can off load one or multiple of Warner, strobel, and JM. Cruz would be a 3-4 year player and Chaz would be crazy to go pro after this year.
Yet to see John Mittelstadt with proof of an NLI after asking ten times on heremaroon and gold

::Can’t we safely remove Warner from any of these discussions for potentially slotting in and taking someone’s spot in the lineup next season? I mean, he’s played in 4 games this year and 15 last year, with a total of 6 points in his play post HS, and isn’t even listed on the Norsemen’s roster anymore. Bonin21

::Pinoniemi is interesting. Been in the pipeline a long time yet you don’t hear much about him. He has been out of the lineup for quite some time. Curious when he returns. I get the notion to want to move on from some less than inspiring recruits, but you need low scholarship guys who can serve as 13th and 14th forwards. Think staff is keeping that in mind as they build roster.

::Smart and skilled yes, but his speed and toughness will need to improve. Benefited greatly from Cole Sillinger appearing around Christmas last year for dishing out dimes on the SF PP. PP numbers were very inflated vs 5v5. This year without Cole, they dropped big time. While not a good team, he has not really elevated them. At any time. Was C1 more because of a lack of options. He’s the kinda kid where he should be 4th line his first year or two (or in stands) and then once a lot of pro departures, he pops up as an upperclassmen to be a top 6 contributor perhaps. maroon and gold

Until guys show up without that ‘M’ on the line chart, I usually don’t write them off. Like here’s Pichora in this event, still putting it out there.

Really good skater and has really started to push the puck up the ice the last couple years. Also a really thick kid for his size. This could be a nice under the radar get for Motzko. Will be a 2 year ushl player and most likely a 4 year gopher. All indications are he’s a great kid with a solid family.

Whether it is college or pro, there is an ego factor with talent evaluators (and coaches) that they can somehow take/mold a raw player with the prototypical physical tools into something special. It isn’t just a Gopher thing though. Personally, I feel like even when these situations do pan out, you don’t tend to get the most of it (on the college level) because these guys end up leaving right after they start to pay dividends.

Mittelstadt’s 22 points on the PP, including 11 PPG, can only bode well for the future of the anemic Gopher PP.

Kurth has 25 goals and 37 assists in 44 games. This projects to 35-52-87 for full USHL 62 game season. When was the last time the Gophers had an incoming recruit that was 35-52-87 as an 18 year old in the USHL?

::Long time Gopher Fan, first time poster! This reference has been made on a few other posts, but I think an important thing to remember is Motzko finds value in having an older roster. A lot of the Don teams near the end were extremely top heavy and struggled to maintain status quo when we’d have early exits. Some on here are suggesting that many of the veteran bottom 6 holdovers from this year’s roster will transfer, but I’m not so sure. I’m guessing a couple may end up leaving, but Bob would more than likely value experienced players than a projected bottom 6 freshman. Excited about the future of this club!

The only two names I’ve thrown out are Brodzinski and Perbix. Brodzinski is not a bottom six guy and I don’t see a spot for him in next year’s top six if Lucius and Knies are back. I put Perbix’ name out there because he may also have trouble finding ice time if those guys are back. They both have ties to SCSU. No names beyond that. Honestly, I would probably miss Perbix more than Brodzinski. I don’t know what people are seeing in his game besides a good shot.I understand the “top six” is really “top nine” in college hockey. And if all the big guns are here I’m not sure Brodzinski even has a spot in the top nine.

You put Schmidt with Sammy and Mac and you think he gets 12 goals / 24 points? I completely agree that Bryce is a pretty meh player but if his one strength is scoring goals, keep him.

I mentioned to my neighbor in the seat next to me this past weekend that Brodzinski is not a top six forward. In his Junior season, he is being outplayed by the freshmen forward corps. He would have value as a returning upperclassman but not if it means sitting an incoming freshman who has a high ceiling.
