Agree… how much money does one person really need?!?!?! Giving with an obedient heart and not having to be recognized is a gift in it’s self. And I’ll tread lightly and stop there…
It depends on the intentions. If I donate a guitar to the hospital, nobody cares. However, for a celebrity, they can actually generate more donations by others by making their donation public. I didn’t read the article, but for example, how many people knew the hospital had a music therapy group that relied on instrument donations? This may spur others to donate cash, or get some people to think about instruments they no longer use and get them to donate those instruments rather than have them sit around unused.
The celebrity may not be looking for recognition as much as the charity.
