She did try and remove herself from the ballot (she said she has never done a rock album, but thanks for the idea!), but RnR HOF, being the joke that it is, refused to do it.

Is it for her more “pop” crossover hits??? She is obviously country, but “9 to 5” was a monster pop hit. “Islands in the Stream” with Kenny Rogers was big too. She wrote Whitney Houston’s biggest hit, which was number 1 for a ridiculous amount of time. There are plenty of “pop” stars in the HOF. So that must be it???

Well she didn’t write “I Will Always Love You” for Whitney. It was Dolly’s “breakup song” for her business partner/tv co-host Porter Wagoner, so she could go solo. Whitney just covered the song.

And yes, Dolly went mega-pop in the 80s. So that could be it, I guess, given the very loose standards of the RnR HOF (no rap group should be in there, as much as I love rap, for example).
