Wow… What a finish to the afternoon games. Argentina scored in the 86th minute to go up 2-1. Meanwhile Iceland and Croatia were level at 1-1.

An Iceland goal would have sent them through over Argentina.

I think if Iceland won 2-1 but ARG tied, ARG would have the goal differential? Or is that not the tiebreaker in that case?

If Iceland won 2-1, and Argentina drew, Iceland would have had more points and a better GD. Would have been:

Iceland, 4pts, -1 GD

Argentina, 2pts, -3 GD

Had Iceland won 2-1, along with Argentina’s 2-1 win, Iceland still would have gone through on GD. It would have been:

Iceland, 4pts, -1 GD

Argentina, 4pts, -2 GD
