FWIW Add a coat of varnish or paint every or every other year, when you can have the window open, to the sash where the ice has built up. Use a good brush and allow there to be a varnish / paint seal between the sash wood and the glazing.
My prefered painting contractor swears by this. You still need the proper humidity.
