So I decided to pick up Madden after a buddy of mine was raving about how improved it was. The passing game got a complete overhaul and it really adds to the game. It takes a little bit to get use to, but as the QB you can loft the ball, throw a bullet or a touch pass. You can also modify those throws by throwing them high or low (L1/L2 buttons). After you throw the ball, you can then choose to decide how the receiver will catch it. You can choose between aggressive, possession and run after catch.
They have added elements that make the game more realistic. In past versions, most QBs played the same way and it didn’t matter who the CPU was using against you, they were all as accurate as Peyton Manning. They have removed the “Robo QB” from the game so there is some variance when using different QBs. Penalties were often lacking in the game, except for the occasional facemask and offside/false start. Now you will see pass interference calls, holding, personal foul, etc.
If you haven’t played madden on the current gen systems and you have one, I would definitely give it a shot.
THIS is what I’m talking about. Way too much work for a leisurely activity.
The best football game ever made was the original NFL Blitz for N64. I will fight that fight to the death. Nothing is better than Blitz.
