As I mentioned, the dealership I bought my car from held a deposit (100 bucks, IIRC), and it was refundable even if I didn’t buy it. Just had to show up. It’s like hotel rooms/etc nowadays. I’m guessing too many no-shows, so now the deposit issue is a thing.
