I was struck by how young so many of them looked. I could be completely wrong but if feels like the control room for Apollo 11 was quite a bit older.
My best guess, we have a couple generations RAISED on technology, whereas Apollo, all that tech was new to them as adults….

The average age of the Mission Operations Control Room was 28, and the learning was all on the fly. After all, none of this had been done before.
I think the perception comes from seeing all men, in white shirts and black ties, many of the photos being in black and white, working inside a smoke filled room giving the overall impression.
I think it’s because we’re getting older.
