Heard this documentary mentioned during a Russo podcast interview with Mike Rupp and it was fascinating. It’s about the Danbury Trashers that joined the UHL in 2004 after being bought by mobster James Galante as a present to his 17-year-old son who he makes President and GM. Imagine The Sopranos if Tony bought a hockey team and gave it to AJ and he runs it like Slap Shot. Rupp joins the team during the NHL lockout season of 2005. I didn’t know anything about this story…definitely worth the watch.
The Sopranos were allegedly based on this family, at least partially.
