I haven’t wanted to admit this, but I turned subtitles on a couple months ago on my steaming devices mostly because my wife is a light sleeper and I wanted to watch TV. Since then, I just watch subtitles of everything and honestly I catch WAY more things reading them than not. I know I am getting older, but I am contending that they are on for exploratory purposes.
Using subtitles isn’t an old person thing. I have an 18 yo daughter and her and all her friends always have them on.
Yeah I guess you are right. My Mom is old and refuses to use subtitles. Instead the TV is on volume 99. Drives me nuts when I call her and 2 minutes in I have to tell her to mute the TV.
