I was surprised to see large expanses of “white” in the SE states of Mississippi, Georgia and Alabama. Maybe that’s because a relatively large portion of the good folks down there have their own backyard breweries and/or distilleries because they can’t afford to buy their booze in the store? I’m sure there’s a better explanation…
What decade are you living in? The south is very Baptist! Very Evangelical.
I’m sure there is some moonshine in the hills, but can’t afford to buy their booze in a store?
All those Southern states, and Oklahoma, were DRY until very recently. And not dry because they were making their own, dry because culturally they are very conservatively religious. Why you’d be drowned in sweet tea before they’d offer you a beer.
